  1. Seven Grand or Bar Jackalope for the whiskey? Wonder if the Seven Grand in SD has a hidden bar.
  2. We’re definitely leaning more toward staying near the Louvre. My only hesitation was my parents having this view in the mornings and evenings: Now that my wife nows about the shopping on rue Saint-Honoré, there’s no question
  3. Revised our plans. Now, we’re doing Paris (5 nights)-Normandy (2-3 nights)-London (5-6 nights). I was able to reserve two different apartments in Paris (both offered free cancellation) and would like some input. Both places are equal in cost and the amenities offered (e.g., AC). One is a lot nicer and 700 yards from the Louvre and a 2 minute walk to a subway station. The other is plain (still nice) and about a 10 minute walk to a train station; however, it is across the street from Parc du Champ de Mars (Eiffel Tower) and has a large balcony with an amazing view of the Eiffel Tower. What’s the Surly preference? Other than which one has better nearby bars, which I need to research.
  4. I’ve only been to Crosby’s Tavern and Gaming. It’s ok. I think there’s a bar across the street from the hotel. The Hyatt Regency does have a sports book, if you’re looking to kill time.
  5. Wife (looking at a Bob Melvin Manager of the Year commemorative pin): That’s not very impressive. Me: Why do you say that? Wife: A team only has one manager. Me: There’s more than one team. Wife (light turning on): Don’t say anything
  6. OJ and Trump. New crime-solving duo. Thursdays on Fox.
  7. ^^^^ You don’t want/need a car if you’re exploring the city. If you like seafood, check out swan oyster depot. If the line is too long, order your food to go and eat at one of the nearby bars.
  8. You can pick up BART in the airport. May need to do a bit of navigation to get there (e.g., need to take a tram to get to actual BART station). You will most likely have to wait 15 minutes for a train. You will make every stop between the airport and downtown (no express BART). You won’t have to walk too far from the downtown station (Powell) to the hotel (two city blocks). It may be a PITA, though. I’ve lived in SF/Oakland for 16 years and have only used BART 2-3 times to get to/from the airport. I’d go with Uber/Lyft. Fewer hassles and you will most likely get to your hotel faster.
  9. My wife is laughing at me because I’m watching the game like it’s live action
  10. If you need to watch something to take your mind off the events of today. 4:58 left in the 3rd.
  11. If you’re intent on staying on Oahu, check out Kailua. Watching the sunrise while sitting on Lanikai Beach followed by coffee and a breakfast sandwich at Kalapawai Market is my typical morning routine when I’m visiting my sister. There is very cool hike to some WWII-era pillboxes with great views of the sunrise and The Mokes. Get there early and go to the last pillbox to avoid the crowds. Hawaiian BBQ at Oneawa Market. Drinks at Creekside.
  12. Torch Club is a great cocktail bar and blues club

  15. There's one store in Incline Village. Have not been to it, though.
  16. We were in North Lake Tahoe last weekend for my son's lacrosse tournament and the weather was perfect. Oh, if you ski or board, Squaw Valley has trails open until July 7.
  17. The Hyatt Regency in Incline Village has a casino and sportsbook Kings Beach is nearby and has a lot of water activities Downtown Truckee is worth a visit https://www.truckeeriverrafting.com/ if the water is not too high Dinner/drink cruise on Lake Tahoe
  18. We're going on an Alaska cruise next month with my wife's mother and sister (plus her kids and boyfriend). My wife will get quality time with her mom and sister, our kids will have a blast with their cousins, and I'll be stuck with the Trump-supporting, QAnon conspiracy theorist boyfriend.
  19. August: Weird Al September: Bob Seger October: The Who

  22. My kids and I took a moment at H-Hour to remember the brave souls who risked and gave their lives for the freedom of the world
