  1. Why is it assumed hospitals are going to get overwhelmed? The percentage of those that have been diagnosed and sent to the hospital is infantile. Unless there's an underlying condition, they are sent home to self quarantine. If people want to take the chance going out, they have that right. If people dont want to, then dont. I'm not going to stop living. The typical Friday hour long wait at Matt's was only 15 minutes last night. Very nice.
  2. The head of infectious diseases at Dell Medical has interviewed with every news station in town at their request. They aren't airing the interviews because he is saying it's overblown and the numbers dont add up. But no, let's just cancel everything because the government says to. Does anyone actually use their brain anymore, or just follow the crowd? The doctors at Dell thinks this is wrong. Are any of the local stations airing interviews with them?
  3. Well, other than to be the one group that didn't panic and react. They could have tried that.
  4. The board voted to keep in on last night. Commissioner's Court is meeting this afternoon, with the rodeo one of the agenda items. Based on everything else happening, it would be a surprise if they didn't cancel it.
  5. 2% is world wide, not the states. Estimated to be similar to the flu here. There are tens of thousands that have had it and didn't know it per the head of infectious diseases at Dell medical. Who also told the city that cancelling SXSW's was unnecessary. The panic is unreal and unwarranted. And as numbers continue to come out, the mortality rate continues to drop.
  6. That's why it's overblown. No one knows anything about it, but everything is being cancelled. The measles - we know what that can do. It hasn't been in this country for decades. Yet people are electing not to get vaccinated, and now it's back. Polio - we know what that can do. Yet people are electing not to get vaccinated. Wait and see what happens when this comes back. The flu - vaccination is optional, so people catch it every year, partly by choice if they don't get the vaccination. (and I get the vaccination doesn't always work). But now, we can't decide for ourselves whether or not we want to take a risk of exposure by attending events, etc. It's being decided for us in a panic.
  7. Emergency meeting tonight with the board of Rodeo Austin. So likely heading down the same path. I thought AISD was really stupid for cancelling school last year for bad weather that never happened. But this coronavirus panic takes the cake.
  8. Houston Rodeo just cancelled apparently.
  9. Travis County Commissioner may join them. They are discussing today what to do about the Rodeo, Luck, etc. The lunatics are running the asylum.
  10. So that now puts the rodeo in question. Getting more ridiculous everyday.
  11. The average American spends how many hours having close interaction (say being within 3-5 feet) with another on a daily basis - 6 ,7 hours? At 7 hours, that's 894 billion a year. And that's also likely low. Start with sleeping with your spouse for 8 hours, throw in being around the kids in the morning and night, and the average husband/wife is probably in the 12 hour range. Without ever leaving the house. Now leave the house for work etc., and add everyone else in.
  12. 300 people have been killed on Texas roads so far this year. Maybe we should cancel cars as well.
  13. The city does not have immunity to legal claims. They have been sued, and lost or settled, many times. Circle C, police actions, etc.
  14. Because it is the flu. Or a variation of it. The panic over this is getting ridiculous. And from a lot of the same people that have no problem letting measles make a come back.
  15. Seems 95% of the people on this thread like to pass and cut the line...
  16. I remember the special shoes for the Miami Cotton Bowl. That worked out just great.
  17. No it's not. It's pointing something out. True or not, dumb or not is debatable. But it wasn't racist.
  18. I see nothing good coming from a bowl game this season. Assuming we lose to Tech, which is very likely, then we are 2-5 in our last seven games. And the 2 wins could just as easily be losses. There is nothing to play for and a loss in bowl game is both likely and further hurts the program. Decline the bowl game - it's not deserved and continuing to practice under the current coaching staff is only further detrimental. Clean house in the off-season, try to salvage recruiting, and go from there.
  19. Well, this is true if you ignore the repeated mistakes on defense, fielding punts, fielding kickoffs, passes in the flat, no imagination on offense, inept play calling on 4th down...
  20. And his (Bevo VIII) avatar kicks ass.
  21. From my office chowing down on a T-Man TEXAS!!
  22. Agreed. Atchafalaya or Stanley are two options.
  23. General admission last year had multiple entrances. Not so much this year, with just one entrance on Saturday.
