  1. I saw this last night and it really made me realize how beat down I had felt after the debate.
  2. Oh I believe you. I'm in the same boat with family, friends, and coworkers, but I lean into that shit now. It happened again last weekend when a newer friend of mine locally made some assumptions about my politics because of what I look like and where I live. I definitely did not bite my tongue and I doubt he'll bring shit up like that around me again. I also had a really long talk with my old boss (who you know) back before Christmas and got pretty forceful with him and basically shamed him for still supporting the orange shithead. And tbh, if you compare what I (and increasingly you) believe vs what the Republican party of today stands for, I am liberal.

  4. This is kinda my whole point. Any Republican who bends the knee for Trump gets 0 respect from me. And those Republicans that haven't bent the knee for Trump get 0 respect from today's GQP. They've been cast out of the party like lepers. There was a very brief moment after 1/6 where it looked like enough Republicans were disgusted by Trump's actions that they were finally going to throw him overboard. But then they saw how much the MAGAts didn't give a fuck about 1/6 and had to recalibrate and kick the gaslighting machine into overdrive. And now 1/6 holds a March-Across-a-Bridge-in-Selma type moment for mainstream Republicans. It's fucking disgusting.
  5. Man, a lot of the people that we work with/around on a daily basis are still full-throated Trumpaloos. It's hard to understand tbh. Like I said to you on this board a long time ago, he's not even good for the energy industry and he's terrible for the country. Fucking tax cuts I guess?
  6. Insurance and bonding costs alone make it almost impossible for small independents to operate offshore. The Coast Guard's stance on Taylor Energy's oil spill and how their OPA/OSFR insurance should respond drive part of this, but it's been a tough place for smaller guys to operate since Katrina and Rita completely changed the market for Named Windstorm insurance. These were my best clients for years and years, but hurricanes and platforms don't get along very well. And now host platform issues have become a real problem too. I've got a client that has a great well that was down something like 75% of the time in 2023 because the operator of a host platform went bankrupt and they had no way to get their product to market. I think the Feds could give away the leases for free and it would still be a very tough place to make it all work. At least on the shelf. Deep water isn't as big of a problem from an insurance standpoint. Maybe if operators could get a guaranteed $80/bbl buyer for 5 years, but I can't imagine any administration would go that far to boost supply. It's just not needed until the Permian peters out. Just my $.02
  7. I'm 45 years old myself, but the word on the street (Bluesky tbh) is that there is a young black influencer on TikTok that really started pushing out information on Project 2025 and it really got some traction. Young people who weren't already aware of P2025 were mortified and energized when they got more information about it. Then Trump stepped on his own mushroom in the debate with the "Black Jobs" comment and that started to trend on TikTok. And now Kamala's old comments about falling out of the coconut tree has been given the meme treatment and is keeping the yoots fired up. But again, I don't really know anything about anything and could be talking out of my ass...
  8. I don't know shit about fuck when it comes to TikTok, but it seems like the combo of Project 2025, "Black Jobs", and now Kamala/Coconut Tree/Brat summer have hit the algo like a runaway freight train. Maybe it will be enough to overcome Elmo turning twitter into a de facto arm of Dotard's campaign.
  9. I've seen the same talk of how this late change is a "coup" from some of my red pilled family on line. These same chucklefucks hand-wave their candidate calling the Georgia SOS asking him to find 11,780 votes, participating in alternate elector schemes for which others have now been indicted, and SUMMONING A FUCKING MOB TO ATTACK THE CAPITOL DURING THE TRANSITION OF POWER! Go fuck yourself with a rusty pole you traitor supporting cunts.
  10. I live out in the sticks and we are on Deep East Texas Coop. I know we pay higher rates, but they do not fuck around with tree trimming. They are out whacking everything back off the lines at least every other year, probably more. I've seen them using a damn chopper with a long series of blades hanging down below it for areas where they can't get their ground equipment in. We were without power for a little under 24 hours last week. One of our neighbors had a snag/dead standing Pine that fell from 25 yards into the woods across the line that runs down our road and shithoused everything. The Coop was out here early on Tuesday morning and had it patched up quickly.
  11. Ladies and gentlemen, give it up for your Infectious Disease Czar!
  12. For sure. Nat gas operators pray for cold winters much more than hot summers. But that's a far cry from "no one needs nat gas during the summer." I'm bullish on long term nat gas prices too, but supply can respond pretty quickly to increased demand and higher prices. We are producing a shitload of oil and gas with very few (historically) rigs running. It's hard to imagine sustained $10+ nat gas prices without operators putting more rigs in the field.
  13. Uhhh, people don't need electricity to run their AC during the summer? 40%+of all electricity in the US is still generated by burning nat gas. I think the bigger issue is that we are swimming in nat gas and operators continue to find/drill more productive wells. Comstock's wells in the Western Haynesville in Robertson/Leon county are a good example of this. Fucking enormous wells coming on at 35 Mmcf/d+ and they are still figuring out how to best drill/complete these wells. https://investors.comstockresources.com/static-files/5a596a22-02f6-4b49-a9cc-93ecfe0179c0
  14. Furk. My father in law lives in Applby, just texted him to see if he's had issues but haven't heard back yet. We dropped our kids off at summer camp yesterday out in Shelby county. I think they are hunkered down and puckered up out there right now.
  15. Where at? I'm outside of Nac and the wind has been howling already. It was out of the NE at first and is now blowing straight out of the east like a sumbitch.
  16. Do you have any idea how many of these there are in this country? And not all of them are Trumpaloos. I'd support her and will vote for her as many times as possible, but I don't get all warm and fuzzy thinking this is the silver bullet that you do. FWIW, if Biden decides to step aside I think Kamala is the only other viable option. Any other candidate will have to pay for their campaign with fairy dust and unicorn farts.
  17. FIFY Good leadership matters in any organization, from the local Cub Scout Pack up to Fortune 500 companies - and sure as shit as the leader of the free world. Someone is steering the ship right now and things are going pretty good in my view. I can vote for a moldy cheeseburger or I can vote for a shit sandwich with bits of glass in it. Those are not the options I would choose if I was king of the world, but thems the breaks.
  18. This is something that never gets discussed at this point because of all the other fuckery going on, but Trump was a terrible leader with historically high turnover in his administration. Pretty much anyone who was competent or decent was either forced out or quit when they saw how dysfunctional it was with their own eyes. John Kelly, Rex Tillerson, Jeff Sessions, Jim Mattis, John Bolton, etc. The cabinet for a 2nd Trump term won't be chosen based on competency, it will be loyalty to Trump above all else. I hear a lot of people talk about how they can't vote for Biden because he's too old, but the job is waaaaaay too big for one person. Leadership and selecting good people to be around you is just as big or maybe even a bigger predictor of success and competency imo.
  19. Seriously. Hornsby is being Pollyanna af. If it doesn't effect me and I don't see it with my own eyes then it must not be a real thing. I think there is a bit of boy-cried-wolf effect going on with the notion that this is the most important election in our lives, but I don't know if our Democracy ever recovers from Project 2025 and whatever other authoritarian BS comes out of 2nd Trump term. The tariffs and deportation of 10-12 million people alone will be devastating to our economy. With a cabinet of nothing but yes men and grifters around this time there will be nothing to hold back the worst impulses. I don't know what the best path is towards avoiding it, but I'm pretty despondent this morning after seeing just how old and feeble Biden looked last night. He is just not equipped to confront the jetstream of BS coming out of Trump's mouth. The team that prepared him with a bunch of data instead of nailing down the best zingers to attack Trump should be tarred and feathered today. Fuck everything.
