  1. This. Maybe I've missed it, but I have not seen any videos of protesters throwing rocks or tearing stuff up on UT campus. You can disagree with the message of the protesters while still acknowledging their right to protest and realizing that this level of police response is completely uncalled for. Unless you're a boot licker who jerks off at a show of force I guess.
  2. What a bunch of fucking bullshit. God damn this is infuriating. I'm just getting caught up on this thread, but I have seen absolutely no evidence that this type of response and show of force was necessary. Our "leaders" in Texas continue to fail us. Fucking pussies.
  3. I'll have to look more into the Alberto. I know I've tied it before while watching a video, but it's been a while. @Born to Run what kind of UV glue setup do you have? That sounds handy.
  4. I've used a FG knot too, but I struggle with it unless I'm in my garage out of the wind. I really prefer to have a knot tying/tie fast tool to do the uni/uni as well. I need more practice to be able to do it quickly while out on the boat.
  5. I got out to the fishing club last week. Fished with clients one day and did pretty good. I spent a lot of time re-rigging and un-boogering gear but they had a blast. Was supposed to take a different guy on Thursday but he better offered me for a sailfish trip so I went out by myself. I think I caught 38 but nothing bigger than 3 lbs. Good for the soul tho. 6. I've gone to this when fishing clear water for Bass and it does seem to make a difference. Do you use a double uni knot? The lake I live on is usually pretty stained so I just roll with 30# Power Pro. The fish all get so much pressure that I probably should use a fluoro leader, but I usually don't bother.
  7. He's a brainwashed Boomer who can no longer think critically. I love him dearly, but you're not in great company if your thought processes aligns with his.
  8. JFC, we're not sending them big brown bags with a green dollar sign on the side stuffed full of cash. You further beclown yourself when you say ignorant ass shit like we can't give them a blank check. Literally no one is suggesting that.
  9. Fucking this. I've got sons that are 14 and 10 years old. The quoted is essentially what I told my dad when he was spouting the same horseshit <animal><tobacco> is saying here. We either fight them now with our money, our old equipment, and their men OR we fight them later with our money, our new equipment, and potentially my sons. The Russians have made it very clear they don't intend to stop at Ukraine. The fact that a back bench bitch from Louisiana is holding up a vote on funding is fucking infuriating.
  10. Runyourpool.com is the site my buddy is using. They appear to group players by the Vegas odds, so all of your picks would be in group one and you could only use one of them.
  11. Probably good plays. I think I'll see how many people end up in this pool and if it's smaller I'll go with safer plays like Keegan and Charl. If it gets pretty big then I might need to swing for the fences with riskier plays like An / Dunlap. Thanks!
  12. First pass. It's hard not to take Scottie in the A group, but surely there's no way he can continue the torrid pace he's been on. Right? This article gave me ideas for the 4, 5, 6 guys. https://golf.com/lifestyle/2024-masters-sleeper-picks-break-out-augusta-national/
  13. Taking my first stab at a Masters pool and Tier 5 and 6 feel like such a crap shoot. I don't like any of these guys to make the cut. Especially if the weather is shit on Thursday and Tiger and Phil have to play 36 on Friday. Maybe Zach Johnson in 6. I feel like he's got a decent chance to make the cut.
  14. This can't be said enough. I mentioned it already, but we almost didn't leave the house because of the weather and the fact that our house was going to get 98% totality. This thread and comments like this one were the nudge I needed to insist to my wife that we were going even if it was a 50/50 shot that we could even see it. After experiencing totality, I'd drive a long way and put a lot of energy into a 10% chance to experience it again.
  15. 1000% We listened to The Daily on the way out there and "Mr Eclipse" was talking about how impactful his first total eclipse was on the rest of his life. I honestly thought it was a little much and maybe he was just a wackadoodle. Nope. I get it now. All three of my kids really enjoyed it too. My middle son is skeptical of pretty much everything and I could tell leading up to today that he was happy to get out of school and was humoring me with his interest, but that shit went out the window the moment totality hit. https://www.nytimes.com/2024/04/08/podcasts/the-daily/mr-eclipse.html
  16. Man, that was fucking incredible. We ended up on the shore of Richland-Chambers lake at a public boat ramp park and there were only 3 other cars out there to see the eclipse. The clouds started to break on the way out there and by the time we started to notice it getting darker it was pretty much clear. We had ~3:30 of totality pretty much unobscured, so I'm very glad we decided to take the kids out of school and still go for it. Thank you to the people on this thread for saying 99% isn't in the same ballpark as 100%. Taking the glasses off and observing totality withe naked eyes is one of the coolest things I've ever seen in my life. We could've stayed home and seen 98% coverage, but... ain't no fucking ballpark, ain't even the same league, it ain't even the same fucking sport. No traffic at all going or coming. Got back home around 4pm and the heavens opened up about 4:15. I'm feeling so damn lucky that everything came together like it did and that we got to experience it as a family.
  17. A pallet, some chain-link fence, car batteries, a few knockoff Pelican cases, plywood and a handful of reversed cell phone boosters - all held together with what looks like clothesline wire. I think I might be able to build one of these in my garage right now.
  18. Man, that's a random ass place to buy a house. I'm thinking somewhere around Cayuga is where we'll end up. I'm definitely overthinking this, but having 3 kids and my wife stuck in the car with me for 4 hours because the traffic was insane sounds....not fun.
