The furlough and layoff angle will be a thing for like 0.5 seconds before people forget about it and shouldn't affect anything.

    +1

If anything, an argument could be made that not making a move is going to hurt revenue even more, resulting in more furloughs/layoffs.  Is trotting out the same garbage product going to produce the necessary income to fund the athletic department budget?

Maybe one of the reasons I'm hopeful on Urban is it feels like he's been dropping little hints that suggest he'd have interest here. Even just in the past few weeks he is on record saying he thinks Chris Ash was the best coaching upgrade made this off-season and that Texas has recruited well and has a strong roster but coaches are failing at development. Both of those comments seem to hint that he sees a ton of opportunity at Texas that is not being managed well.

Then again, I'm probably just reading into this what I want to hear.

That's my read too, but maybe I'm drinking the same Kool-aid.

  3. If the rest of the team has a problem with Sam, it's probably because the heart he plays with and love of the university he shows contrasts show sharply with theirs. If everyone played with half the heart Sam does, this team would be 4-0.

I've followed Urban's career from Bowling Green to Utah to Florida to Ohio State and there's never been a whisper of paying for players. I don't recall any major NCAA infractions, either.

His "No guns" rule might be an obstacle to taking the UT job. I mean, it's nice to hear you're willing to cheat to win but wouldn't a ban on guns be crossing some sort of line?

Herman has the same thing.  Actually, his is "No Weapons," which would seem to be more exclusive.  Given how much of a pussy Herman is, he probably didn't think of it on his own and got it from Urban.  Herman sure likes to say, "When we won a national championship..." about his time at Ohio State.

Re: the holding call, in 45+ years of being an avid football fan, I've never seen a OL holding flag get picked up. Been asking around ever since Saturday, and nobody I've asked has ever seen one either.

I'd love to know what kind of legit justification could even be made for picking one up.

I'm a high school official. If I throw a flag for holding, it's because I saw a hold and it was relevant to the play.  If I have doubt, I don't throw a flag.  I'd be pretty perturbed if another official came in and tried to overrule my flag.  It's not like an incomplete pass or something where a different angle makes a huge difference.

I want a coach that doesn't make me pucker my asshole to play unranked Tech, TCU, ISU and fucking K-state.

No kidding.  With Herman, our assholes are more puckered than a teenager's snapchat account.

And at least when Mack got steamrolled by OU or put up another shitty loss to someone else, you knew we were about to win 7 in a row to get to ten wins.

With coach Mensa, you just brace for the next loss on his way to 4 or 5.

Ugh. We took those 10 win seasons for granted.  I remember all the complaining about those seasons.  Damn.  Herman really makes you put things into perspective.

Wish we had a coach who was not actively engaged in on the job learning.

I think the problem is that Herman isn't actually learning anything.  He keeps making the same mistakes followed up by the same lame excuses.

  9. Every time I see a job listing that looks good, but I don't quite meeting the requirements for, I think of Tom and go ahead and apply. If he can get paid millions for faking it, we all can. Of course, once I get a job, I work my ass off proving I can do the work and help out anywhere I can. Can't just pat yourself on the back thinking the starting line is the same as the finish line.

First off, I didn't proclaim that it is inevitable that Collins' career will turn into Suh's.

Secondly, Suh didn't do shit until his third year in Lincoln. Barring injury, Collins will be a monster force his junior year. Whether he is Suh is yet to be seen.

How did he play 5 years before the 4 game redshirt rule?  Did he have a medical redshirt?

I don't know why I'm LOLing at the fact that Sarodorick is a Jr. Guess his pops really wanted to keep that name going.

I heard his name said watching the Tech/HBU highlights. In my mind I pictured it as Sir Roderick. That would be a name worthy of passing along to one's children.
