  1. Media deal would have still expired when it did and Texas would have still left for the SEC, IMO.
  2. We're all going to be left behind eventually, except for the top 20 or so teams, IMO.
  3. Texas wanted preferential treatment and the conference said no. Larry Scott was an idiot but not about that. Oh, no! I'm a pussy? How will I recover from an insult like that?
  4. Texas to the PAC was never going to happen because they wouldn't let go of LHN and they would not agree to equal revenue sharing. Both were deal killers.
  5. My dad mentioned the same 'trade imbalance' bullshit when I called him out on the tariffs. That must be the Fox talking point on the issue. These people are lost forever (at least my dad is).
  6. If you run into an asshole in the morning, you ran into an asshole. If you run into assholes all day, you're the asshole.
  7. Every conference Texas has been in since forever has broken up. I'm sure that's completely coincidental and has nothing to do with Texas.
  8. So I should invest a bunch of time and money to hope my team can be a spoiler? That's not gonna happen. BTW, I'm a CU fan. My team has the same number of NCs in my lifetime (50 years) as Texas does. But their trajectories are going to be very different going forward.
  9. Between NIL, the portal and the way all the money and power in CFB has been amassed by the B1G and SEC, I'm just not as interested in CFB as I used to be. Only a select few teams can afford the top players and you never know who will even be on the team from year to year. Lower tier teams are now being used as farm teams for the top teams because players can leave at any time. The ironic thing is I don't have a problem with NIL. The players deserve a cut of all the money they make the schools. But when combined with the portal, it has guaranteed that only maybe 10 teams ever have a real shot at winning it all. If your team is one of them (and UT is), I can see how you like it. For the rest of us, it's not good. And as our interest wanes, so will profits and payouts to all teams.
  10. Meh. 10 years ago I would have really cared and really wanted CU in the B1G. Don't care anymore. College football is unrecognizable from what it used to be. I'll still watch and I'll still pull for the Buffs, but I hate where CFB is and where it is going.
  11. lizard people need special ventilation, too.
  12. It has always looked like that. The gazillion dollars was spent on the inside. New security is much better, though.
  13. Meh, there's little difference between B and C at DIA. And you have to ride the train to A now as well.
  14. I finally cut cable and did YTTV and will add on Altitude + for Nuggets/Avs. I have Prime separately. Hopefully I don't need to add anything else.
  15. Yep. Almost all of my business flights are DEN - IAH/DFW/AUS. United is the way to go.
  16. I have no idea how spendy it is for out of state, but it's really reasonable for in state. Total cost for this year including room and board is less than 20k after his scholarship is applied. The going to class thing is gonna be real, though.
  17. Dropped off little Chewy in Durango at Ft Lewis yesterday. He wasn't at all interested in big schools, nor did he want to leave CO. I think it's going to be a great fit for him, even though it's very different than what his parents chose ( both Trinity grads). He's on a float trip down the San Juan right now through the outdoor rec program at the school. They do all kinds of hiking, biking, rafting and ski trips. I think I might have been the one to choose poorly.
  18. Completely anecdotal, but I've never met a CC grad that wasn't a douchebag.
  19. Campus is easy to navigate. 1997 grad
  20. And diddling kids. To be clear, they are the diddlers, not the protectors they want to envision they are.
  21. He lives in an apartment an hour away from me. I haven't been inside it in probably 6 years.
  22. I wish I could say the same thing. My dad has gone from a never Trumper in 2020 to a full blown supporter. In the last few weeks he has told me that he thinks Trump is a good man, that tariffs are a good thing for the economy and that gas in CA is $8/gallon because Newsome shut down the refineries. They believe so many things that are objectively false and easily disprovable with 2 min of Google searches. But he sits at home, mainlining Fox News all day long and believes them over anything else. Had dinner with him 2 nights ago because my youngest is going off to college. It was such a strained conversation because all he wants to talk about is his dumb Fox News shit but he knows that I won't abide that. So we had several long, awkward silences as I tried to think of safe topics to discuss. And even then, he tried to slip some bullshit into the conversation a couple of times but stopped when it was immediately refuted. I want the man who raised me back and I know he's gone forever. He's 85 and has been fully consumed by the right wing propaganda machine.
  23. Depends on what kind of dog you have. When we got our current dog (9 year old purebred Newfie), the cheapest pet insurance policy I could find was $200/mo. For an 8 week old puppy. And we know it just goes up every year from there. Even with all the money we've spent on him (probably 15k), we are well ahead of where we would be with pet insurance.
