  1. They’ll always be the Washington Football Club to me.
  2. Imagine not being told you shouldn’t occasionally vocalize this internal monologue, or have it quietly under your breath, until a serious significant other finally points out you talk to yourself. Welcome to being an only child.
  3. I’m sure when that gets resolved in 2033 after years of litigation for a 15K fine, Lorne Michaels is gonna be real torn up.
  4. This is the only anecdotal story I have: A bunch of my wife’s colleagues are up in PA doing GOTV. They ran out of walk and call sheets yesterday so they went to the bar. They are actively turning away volunteers in the Philly suburbs because they don’t have anything for them to do.
  5. Boom. Haven’t missed a national election since I became eligible in 1992. Granted, is DC, but I take my democracy seriously.
  6. I think the extended version of my wife’s line is: If I didn’t like duck, I would have gone to Smith and ditched y’all decades ago.
  7. My wife’s version, when she’s particularly torqued off, is: ”Heterosexuality is a curse on woman.”
  8. Some sort of race. The CGA ran away with it. I yelled “Go Coast Guard, Go Maine” as we cruised by after the finish, which got me a few fist pumps from the boat and my host admonished me for talking to a competitor boat. Like I said: I didn’t eat shit through 4 Maine winters to not give some love to any school from Vacationland. Except Colby. Fuck those guys.
  9. @Js1 Just got back from a day of boating in Annapolis.
  10. I like Charlie Cooke, Amy Walter, and Wasserman. They are good people and are honest. I think Dave is showing the dissonance of this race: Dems are overperforming down ballot across the board, and even have small, but not impossible chance of holding on to the Senate. But here we are pissing down our legs about the Presidential. American's haven't ticket split like that since the 80s.
  11. I don't want to get my hopes up, because we don't know shit about fuck, but this fits my theory of what is happening in the election: Undecideds were generally uncomfortable with Trump, but are grumpsy about the economy and weren't sold on Harris (but also hadn't ruled her out the way a bunch of indies just could not bring themselves to vote for Clinton). They remained Trump curious because of rosey memories of his economy, and his low grade flood the zone with shit created white noise that allowed indies to start living with the idea of another Trump term (I'm not sure if people really remember, but Trump got relatively quiet towards the end of the 2016 campaign, which really amplified the Comey memo and created the impression Trump could be just a buffonish but normal republican.) It meant late deciders who were trying to stomach Clinton in 2016 the incentive they needed to YOLO into Trump. I know there are people on this board who qualified for that. The last two weeks have absolutely shattered that status qou, with Trump storming around the country as a facist and giving late breakers the incentive they need to YOLO into Harris.
  12. I'm posting with a note at screen bottom that @Js1 has replied, so I'm sure this is duplicative, but a narrow-ish trump lead in Iowa means she's doing well in the rest of the midwest. Selzer doesn't put her thumb on the poll to try and get a reasonable result. She just asks people who their going to vote for, weights for demographics, and fires. She's been quite accurate for Iowa for multiple elections. To be clear: Dems ain't winning in Iowa.
  13. IS SOMEBODY GOING TO TELL THE FUCKING PLANE STORY OR WHAT?
  14. Happy Halloween, you absolute degnerates:
  15. In the battle of the Chris’s, my wife is a Chris Pine stan. But Chris Evans will forever be my Chris:
  16. Well, in all fairness the ones that like him loathe themselves
  17. For any young's here, I can not begin to express how good these 80s looks were. This is elder Gen X smoke.
  18. Man, for the sake of a lot of posters here, I hope Hank Scorpio doesn’t start posting in this thread. Some you guys need to drop a gummy or a Xanax.
  19. This is my regular reminder that prior to 2007, DST started three weeks later in the spring and ended a week earlier in the fall. That’s why it feels so much more painful: the transitions were much less dramatic from a light perspective. You can thank Ed Markey for the change, it was his big idea to save energy.
  20. That’s a serious conversation in our family rn.
