  1. Maybe he can take his asshat friends with him and we can have Centex back. Damn, I miss Marathon:
  2. The Texas High Plains is easily one of the most beautiful and compelling places I've ever been. Despite being an Austin boy to the core my entire life, I get why people are so drawn to West Texas.
  3. When I went to Big Bend, I flew out of El Paso at the end of the trip. I really, really liked it, but it felt like an entirely different place than the Texas I know in the Dallas, Austin, SAT, Houston box. Doesn't surprise me at all that most people in El Paso give zero fucks about contemporary events in the rest of the state.
  4. It's an own goal in the sense it didn't have to happen and Biden remains a gaffe machine, as he has been his entire life. This is why Harris has kept him off the campaign trail. But it won 't mean shit in the grand scheme of things.
  5. Well, I watched it from my Condo and went and got another glass of wine, so you may be on to something.
  6. I believe in credit where credit is due.
  7. Of this deep cut, I approve
  8. I want to remind everyone that the only ironclad rule of cloakroom is to not Football the sub.
  9. Do you guys spin up Immamac just for the sport of it?
  10. You can drink whatever you want, brother. I’m not gonna judge. It’s all about the friends we make along the way.
  11. Also it’s almost fucking impossible to gain residency in Canada. We can all hang out at the Taco stand wherever we end up in Mexico. First round of Bohemia is on me.
  12. I’m convinced people in 100 years will look back on @dril as one of the greatest artists of our generation.
  13. Man, some of the people on this thread eat those gross non pasture raised eggs.
  14. I think it’s a reflection that the election is close. Across the board tariffs and mass deportations are going to induce Argentina style inflation, and you are seeing a Trump trade developing as a hedge. That’s just smart business sense. If he loses, it’s just a transaction fee loss.
  15. I’m going to keep hammering this with credit to Huckleberry: we don’t know shit about fuck, when it comes to EVs and mail returns. And we won’t know shit about fuck until they start counting. Independent voters make up a 1/3 of the electorate and you can’t reasonably predict how they are going to vote. Just like a few points in either direction among your party faithful can have a huge impact in the final total. Each election year, beyond an outlier like 1956, 1984, 1996, is a unique snowflake and you can’t really digest all that much at a meta level from it. Vote, knock doors, cope however you need to.
  16. I want to like this... but also: Hanford.
  17. Also, the revisions to the Electoral Reform Count Act makes it very hard for Congress to reject electors, and if they do, rather than triggering the disputed elections clause (and thus throwing the election into the House), it just reduces the total number of electoral votes and thus the threshold for gaining a majority. Now that could cause some fuckery, but again, it is very unlikely now that two sets of electors could be presented and cause a dispute. For once, Congress did something right.
  18. This is correct. In fact, The first thing you do after you swear in a new Speaker is pass the rules package for the new Congress. The reforms also make it impossible for state legislatures to appoint electors after the election.
  19. Yeah man. I had to visit Hanford a couple of times. Eastern WA fucking sucks.
  20. One thing that is clear, in all this Jon Ralston and other state copycats, is that because 2020 relied so much on mail in ballots, everyone got very into ballotology and reading tea leaves from updated totals. But the thing is, party faithful rarely decide elections, it's independent voters that ultimately will choose. While there are some mildly encourage signs in the gender splits of EV, the truth is, until those get counted, no body really has any idea what is going on. Which brings us back to:
  21. Yeah, man. I might follow the Longhorns and be a native Austinite, but I didn't eat shit through 4 Maine winters to be lumped in with you elitist assholes. I get to be lumped in with a bunch of East Coast Elitist Assholes.
