  1. Oregon State had them on the ropes and for some unfathomable reason put it in Uiagaleli's hands right at the end when all they needed was a field goal.
  2. Fuck I miss shopping the Westlake HEB as a fresh divorcee in the spring after church. Sundresses for miles.
  3. Agreed about Alabama, that SECSECSEC bias is real and bullshit. Washington and FSU are still undefeated. They get the benefit of the doubt at this stage in the season. And Washington has a ton of underwhelming wins. To your larger point: prolly time for me to step back on this thing.
  4. Texas, for better or worse, has lots of games where they’ve let opponents stay within a score or two most of the game. Ultimately, a W is a W. But when you are surfing channels on a Saturday, Texas, post Alabama, is the top ten team most likely to be in a dog fight when other big top ten names are sitting 4 TD leads middle 3rd quarter. And a lot of voters, for better or worse, take an impression off that. When it took tOSU 4 quarters to get a handle on Maryland, people noticed. Texas has multiple games like that.
  5. They also see middling Texas victories against KSU, ISU, TCU, and Houston where the Longhorns allowed overmatched opponents to stubbornly hang around. The committee isn’t going to consider injuries. And yes that’s exactly bullshit beauty contest stuff. I don’t disagree with any of your metrics, but I’m just saying that there is a very strong chance that if UO beats Washington bad on Friday, they won’t care and the Ducks will make the playoffs. Particularly if Texas doesn’t blow the doors off the pokes. And several of us on this thread are trying to prepare the fan base for that. But I’ve already been told to stfu. So here we are.
  6. I suppose it’s more about the nostalgia of games That Matter on January 1 and the wildness of that day instead of a mid January Monday night. Point Taken.
  7. In a sense, we are still, to some degree, at the whims of a beauty contest. I totally agree we need to expand the playoffs, but short of giving the P5 conference champs auto bids and then some sort of ranked wild card system (which still creates a beauty contest issue), I don’t know how you don’t end up with somebody complaining that “We did x, y, and z, and it’s total bullshit that this other team is in and we aren’t”
  8. While I don’t disagree with the gist of this post, I’m not sure hanging your hat on underwhelming victories over *checks notes* Penn State and Notre Dame is where I’d build the foundation for my thesis.
  9. SECSECSEC and all that puke. I do think Texas might be the most dangerous team in a playoff with that defense. And that is probably the best argument for Texas jumping any and all 1 loss teams, including Oregon. I just don’t think the Committee goes to that level of 3D chess.
  10. I understand why you negged me. You want go full Aggie, that’s a choice. Squeeze those nuts, Sallie.
  11. To a degree, the PAC 12 championship game sorta doesn’t apply to Texas. If the Huskies win, they are in the playoffs. If Oregon wins, they are probably in (barring an uninspiring performance and a monster Texas win).
  12. Throwing positive rep to you for being a dim, but loving fan of your team. Rage all you want, I didn’t design the system. I’d have left it the way it was 25 years ago and just let the writers pick after all the dust of the New Years Bowl’s settled.
  13. I have a kid at Oregon. I watch a lot of PAC-12 games. I also grew up a Horn fan. If Oregon does what I think they are going to do on Friday, which is put the wood to a Washington team that had every break go their way in the first game, plus Dan Lanning unnecessarily going for it on 4th down and not doing th easy football thing (something Texas fans also have suffered under Sarkisian), and they win by 2+ TDs, y’all will need to absolute demolish Ok. St. to be in the conversation (barring a Michigan, FSU, or Georgia loss). A low scoring single digit win isn’t going to do the trick. It just isn’t. The committee is not going to jump you over an Oregon team that definitively beats an undefeated top 5 team in the CCG. Rage about it all you want. I will completely give you that the beauty contest is unfair and bullshit. It’s an excellent argument for going to 8 teams. Lanning has been anticipating this and has been very slow to pull starters in blowouts. But be realistic. If it comes down to a beauty contest, your win against Ok. St has to look like Tech and not Iowa State. Now maybe Penix will go ham and Lanning will shit the bed, but we are different from A&M in being rational about who we are and what we are looking at
  14. I think the only team with a weaker schedule than Oregon, might be Meatchicken. Idgaf what pedo state is ranked. I also tend to have recency bias on losses as well.
  15. I think that would open some eyes for sure. Oregon’s weak SOS is a problem for the ducks, for sure. Lanning has tried to account for that by putting the screws to all their opponents, but the PAC 12s paper ranking out side of UW are thin.
  16. I have a kid at Oregon and I’m a life long Horns fan. As I stated: the SEC is going to get a team in the playoffs, short of Georgia losing to Tech, and Bama losing to Auburn today. It’s sorta bullshit, but SECSECSEC and all that crap. OSU-Michigan will take care of it self. If FSU beats Louisville, they will be in, but I don’t think they will without their best player. So it will likely come down to a beauty contest between Oregon and Texas. If you guys want to believe common opponent is definitive, then Texas is looking good. But Oregon is also possibly going to get a chance to finish the season against a top 5 opponent. And that may not augur well for the Horns. Really what both teams want is for Florida State to lose, that will solve much of the issue.
  17. Yet they beat TCU like a rented mule and TCU took you to the wire. why wErEn’T yOu dOmINaTE? Beauty contest are all eye of the beholder shit. Yes Oregon and Texas share a similar opponent. Two months apart. That’s a life time in football, and everyone can pick nuts with every one else’s schedule. I guess we should discount the fact Oregon just blew the wheels off a ranked opponent that took the #5 team to the fucking wire last week.
  18. Texas also only beat TCU by 3 two weeks ago and Oklahoma beat them by a gazillon. How far are we going to play this game? It really comes down to FSU, Alabama and Georgia: there is zero chance that the SEC is getting shut out. And I find FSU suddenly very non compelling. From there both Texas and Oregon control their own fates . But Oregon more so than Texas.
  19. The funny thing about this topic is how small Dealey Plaza is in person. I thought that it would be this giant thing and Oswald made some crazy 1000 yard shot and that's why all the conspiracy theories are true. Standing on the X on the road where the killing shot hit, it's not even 75 yards to the window in the book depository. It immediately made me realize that anybody with a gun rest and a scope who didn't have Parkinson's would have a solid chance of hitting a target in steady, slow moving vehicle.
  20. The Chiefs at this point need to be trying out any free agent they can get in the building.
  21. Same. The bullet he dodged was massive. I’ve seen similar scenes on other teams years later and the deep snapper or holder is usually fighting his own teammates to not tackle the kicker.
  22. Two red zone turnovers and a dropped on the hands TD. Generally I hate “you didn’t win, we lost” narratives, but if you are the Eagles, you are just happy to be here right now.
  23. Come on now, It's no time to be shy and remember it in all it's glory:
  24. I'm Sure DeBeor could make it work for a Fisher level deal, but I can not over emphasize how amazing the UW campus is. The main library hall is legitimately one of the most beautiful rooms I've ever been:
