  1. I will agree that kids will watch anything and not GAF. The amount of total trash direct to dvd/streaming content for children is unbelievable. Just unwatchable dreck and littles will eat that shit up.
  2. DC’s traffic issues are 3 fold: 1. DC it self has very few freeways running through the city. That’s both a good and bad thing: the cities has very distinct urban neighborhoods, and that’s cool. But literally everything is side streets to get anywhere. The traffic circles designed my L’Enfant make it even worse. 2. VA is really where the growth is and there aren’t nearly enough bridges across the Potomac. 5 total. PDX is half the size and has like a dozen. 4. MD has a strong anti growth movement and its side of the DMV is in desperate need of more road and transit construction. Toss in the fact that 95 between DC and Fredericksburg is probably the worst stretch on that highway on the Eastern Seaboard. Just a hot mess all around.
  3. In DC, pre-Covid, it routinely took me 50-60 minutes to drive 8 miles.
  4. @henrygandorfThat’s my point: I don’t personally find her a lead. If she’s got the financing to showrun herself, good for her, but it doesn’t change the fact, imho, she’s not a particularly compelling star. Not bad, just not must see either. The Mindy Project is hit or miss. As you point out, she works a lot, so I guess that’s to be expected, but I think her strength is behind the camera.
  5. @henrygandorfNever have I ever is fucking excellent. Very, very funny.
  6. I haven’t watched the cowboys all season, except here and there on Red Zone. Is this their normal bit? How did y’all win 12 games?
  7. This. Harley Quinn is the gold standard of reimagining a well known and beloved universe in a hilarious, innovative way. It’s worth it Lake Bell’s Poison Ivy alone. She has some next tier cursing rants. The violence is first rate, the female characters are hot, the story lines clever AF. Kaley Chico voices Harley and is the executive producer, which is the inverse of our current debate: I don’t find her live acting to be particularly compelling, but that’s mostly because Big Bang Theory is a meh show for dumb people to feel smart. Maybe that’s what Kaling was going for here, but it sounds like it didn’t land. I’ve already got too much to stream and I don’t give a fuck enough about Scooby Doo to put this in the que, unless it were getting Andor level reviews.
  8. I’m not sure I 100% agree with your police work there, Lou. She probably had the single best line in This Is The End. I don’t hate Rogan, he just needs to be used in an ensemble cast. Knocked Up and Pineapple Express both had about 50% too much Rogan.
  9. Re: Kaling. She’s an interesting producer, and like many show runners, she’s hit or miss. As an on screen talent, she’s like Seth Rogan: if you are centering a project on her, that’s usually not a good thing. She’s a second or third, not a lead. Sometimes actors don’t have “it.”
  10. Yes. I want to be able to discuss this without you nerds revealing spoilers.
  11. Haven’t played the game. Enjoyed the hell out of that first episode.
  12. The 3% would be at least one Shagster saying “Seen hotter on campus”
  13. I think once you one way to Thailand, your field of fucks to give is officially barren.
  14. Yeah: think esophageal , stomach, and colon cancer, not lung cancer. I love bbq, but from a toxicology perspective, it should be enjoyed in moderation. Gas is also terrible for your air quality and most homes don’t have the necessary venting.
  15. Tar. Hella Good. Cate Blanchett is pretty much a lock to win the Best Actress.
  16. It often is in the court of public opinion in politics.
  17. Garland appointed a special counsel. Not seeing a link yet, but it's in my alerts.
  18. Well, it allows Garland to say "You can subpoena me all you want, but I can't legally talk about it, and I also don't know shit since it's a special counsel and I'm firewalled" as an out.
  19. Mostly Este. I'm not sure how big a deal it is until we know more about the process, nature of the documents, whatever. Biden has already acquitted himself better than Trump by cooperating, but still, Garland should probably appoint a Special Counsel. Which will also have the effect of keeping House Judiciary off his back. Because Trump did it first, regardless of seriousness, it takes away the breathless "IS THIS THE NEXT WATERGATE?!!!!" media coverage that Lewinsky, Benghazi, Clinton Servers, any 100 Trump scandals, creates. Instead, most people are probably going to file this in "Politicians gonna politician" folder.
  20. I'm not sure William Munny is an anti-hero. I've always interpreted Unforgiven that all the characters, beyond possibly the cut up prostitute, are villain's at some level. His actions in the bar are absolutely morally wrong, even if they are deeply satisfying to watch. He's engaged in murder, and should be pursued. Shooting up the posse before they can track him down is not the action of an anti-hero, it's the behavior of a man unable to control his temper when drunk. Eastwood's point with Unforgiven is nobody was noble in the west, even as the wild part of it faded into the modern era. There were no good guys. Eastwood's career is all about the anti-hero. Unforgiven is his way of burying it.
