  1. Man, some of the people on this thread eat those gross non pasture raised eggs.
  2. I think it’s a reflection that the election is close. Across the board tariffs and mass deportations are going to induce Argentina style inflation, and you are seeing a Trump trade developing as a hedge. That’s just smart business sense. If he loses, it’s just a transaction fee loss.
  3. I’m going to keep hammering this with credit to Huckleberry: we don’t know shit about fuck, when it comes to EVs and mail returns. And we won’t know shit about fuck until they start counting. Independent voters make up a 1/3 of the electorate and you can’t reasonably predict how they are going to vote. Just like a few points in either direction among your party faithful can have a huge impact in the final total. Each election year, beyond an outlier like 1956, 1984, 1996, is a unique snowflake and you can’t really digest all that much at a meta level from it. Vote, knock doors, cope however you need to.
  4. Also, the revisions to the Electoral Reform Count Act makes it very hard for Congress to reject electors, and if they do, rather than triggering the disputed elections clause (and thus throwing the election into the House), it just reduces the total number of electoral votes and thus the threshold for gaining a majority. Now that could cause some fuckery, but again, it is very unlikely now that two sets of electors could be presented and cause a dispute. For once, Congress did something right.
  5. This is correct. In fact, The first thing you do after you swear in a new Speaker is pass the rules package for the new Congress. The reforms also make it impossible for state legislatures to appoint electors after the election.
  6. Yeah man. I had to visit Hanford a couple of times. Eastern WA fucking sucks.
  7. One thing that is clear, in all this Jon Ralston and other state copycats, is that because 2020 relied so much on mail in ballots, everyone got very into ballotology and reading tea leaves from updated totals. But the thing is, party faithful rarely decide elections, it's independent voters that ultimately will choose. While there are some mildly encourage signs in the gender splits of EV, the truth is, until those get counted, no body really has any idea what is going on. Which brings us back to:
  8. Yeah, man. I might follow the Longhorns and be a native Austinite, but I didn't eat shit through 4 Maine winters to be lumped in with you elitist assholes. I get to be lumped in with a bunch of East Coast Elitist Assholes.
  9. That's kinda the only other thing I can come up with, and if it's true, then our democracy will be burned to the ground.
  10. Look, there could be a well of new voters who are upset about inflation and have chosen right now, in 2024, to finally participate in our democracy and express their frustration about egg prices, because they have some rose tinged memory of Trump's pre covid economy (which was solid, but it wasn't like it was the first couple of years of Kennedy's presidency).....and if that's the case, then Trump's going to win, maybe bigly. But those voters, when inflation was actually really bad in 2022 (I do the shopping in my house, and I had plenty of WTF moments while standing in Wegman's during that fall), didn't feel the need to show up at the polls during a mid terms. So I'm sorta struggling, from a subjective stand point of how now they now are ready to vote for Trump, with even more Facism, when they've sat out of the political system most of their adult lives. To qoute Huckleberry: None of us know shit about fuck, but the logic here is very confusing.
  11. So I walked out of my condo freaking out, and now I'm at work an hour later and maybe I don't need to freak out? Can y'all explain it to me like I'm a golden retriever, since maffs are not my strong suit?
  12. The risk/reward for the GOP on his being elected is almost incalculable. Given that no one has shown even an iota of being able to grasp his mantle, the party is going to fall into squabbling that we haven’t seen since the dissolution of the Whigs. I honestly have no idea what follows him if he loses.
  13. You going to post a pic of the burrito or just fuck the rules? Srsly, tho, drive safe.
  14. Ironically we make Pennie’s because nobody uses them and instead throws them in a jar on their nightstand, which means they fall out of circulation, necessitating the production of more pennies. It’s the dumbest self perpetuating cycle.
  15. Before everyone jumps on you: the markets are a bit of a self selecting investor pool. Mostly male and young. It’s like if you asked your fantasy football group.
  16. I can’t believe we are still on the Rohan thing, but I wouldn’t be surprised if part of the issue is scheduling, especially if she’s gonna do an in studio. Taking half a day to go to Austin this late in the campaign is not a good use of valuable campaign time. Look at how w bad it fubar-d Trump’s schedule yesterday.
  17. It’s funny: treasury rates spiked earlier in the week when everyone had their melt down about early voting and Trump winning. As people have more data and come to their senses, they’ve come back down.
