  1. The Ute fire is heartbreaking. Especially since you and your scouts have been training for a year to be able to do it. I can tell you that Northern Tier was harder physically for us compared to Philmont and you are cold / wet most of the time. Sea Base was like a vacation. We did the Coral Reef Sailing and had a blast.
  2. Well it’s been a while but I finally figured out how to post pictures. I want to say thanks to all of you for helping me pick out some great places to hike and camp. Here’s a sample. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  4. Bought my tires from TiresRack .com. They carry everything. You just have to chose a local shop to do the install and they have several local businesses that you can choose from. All in all I saved about $100 doing it this way than going to Discount Tire which I have also done. I also did some research at Consumer Research and found a Korean Brand tire that was a top 3 rated Best Buy for dirt cheep price.
  5. I did Moab a couple of years ago and it was incredible. Found out that it is the Mecca for Four Wheelers. I got to meet a father and son who's goal was to drive their Jeep on Hell's revenge. They were pumped after getting through the Hot Tub. I did the Zip line tour which was lots of fun and two hike to Delicate Arch. First was for a Sunset photo and the second was at 4 AM to get a photo of the Milky Way. Both shots were amazing. I also did Zion; Do Not hike this trail with small kids or old folks. I also recommend hiking the Narrows as it is rated as a Top 10 in the world hike. The local Brews are very good as well but the food was O.K..
  6. Members 29 87 posts Report post #51 Posted Tuesday at 02:07 PM (edited) We are planning a 2 week + summer trip from Austin to Seattle and back with the goal of camping in National Parks along the way. Has anyone made this trip already? We have been to the Grand Canyon and Yosemite multiple times, and Yellowstone/Grand Tetons once. We would like to hit Utah and others on our way up. Any suggestions? Edited Tuesday at 02:07 PM by Longhorn94 I have done the Olympic Peninsula twice with a side trip to Rainier. It is one of my favorites. The two highlights were Sul Duc waterfalls/Hot Springs and Cape Flattery. I will try to figure out how to post the pictures so you can get a feel for what is out there. Rainier was fun but I was with my relatives and they were not really wanting to do a big hike so we just did the " Grove of the Patriarchs " a very easy hike through virgin Cedars.

    Isle of Dogs

Saw it last night. I liked the opening music from the drummers a lot. The dogs were awesome especially Chief.
  8. One of my favorite books. The movie they made way back in the day suuuuuccccked. This looks very cool.
  9. Just starting my own journey down this road. Last month I moved mom into a house with my sister. Sis is single and will probably stay that way so this works out for both of them right now. Mom is 86, doing well but loses her balance and falls a lot. Her big addiction is F'n QVC. My hope is that sis can ease her off this; the good thing is mom thinks she is broke so she doesn't spend have as much as she wants to. Best of luck to you.
  10. Awesome! The time spent with my son doing BSA was some of the best times of my life. His becoming an Eagle Scout really changed his outlook on life and his role in it. Enjoy the ride and always remember to let the scouts lead.
  11. Can't wait for the cup to get here. Sucks that USA won't be there but there will still be lots of great games to watch.
  12. I've got to learn how to post pics here. My last trip out was to the Olympic Peninsula Coast. Cape Flattery is one of the most beautiful places I have ever hiked to. Thanks for the pics AI_4_ISU. Looks like a great place to hike.
