  1. When his replacement overrides the reviewers and ad boards that are all saying "No" and approves novel biologicals based on thin outcomes and safety data, some of which end up killing people, I'll be here to comment. The process has been extremely politicized at FDA a while now. But esp during the initial covid vax approval, during the booster roll outs, the extension to young children, and the examples given wrt other biologics. I hope that Makary is able to turn some of that around. If he doesn't or if it goes off the rails, I will be here to talk about it. BTW, here is that aduhelm thread that was mentioned. Surly was pretty uniform in its criticism.
  2. Bluster more brisket. Marks shit the bed and shit on the process on far more than the COVID vax (the process for which he did fuck up as well). Marks was at the top of the chain for the aduhelm and elevidys fiascos. There is a longish thread discussing the former on this board. There were ample reasons to turn him over with new FDA leadership.
  3. I'm pushing cash into this thing. Gonna let uncle warren do the heavy lifting on finding the deals.
  4. "Anastasis, you should really hate UATX because it was founded by the (((joos))) and ackshully it is an intelligence community psyop." I got to admire y'all's creativity and dedication to the craft sometimes.
  5. Maybe they should put that in the UATX online FAQ.
  6. Marks ran off multiple top FDA reviewers with his politicization of the vax approval process during COVID under the Biden admin.
  7. Certainly there are multiple factors involved. And I would be the last to minimize the role of social media. I think that the factors being kicked around here are loading on some of the same domains, e.g. perceptions of societal expectations. Our children, and in particular our adolescent children are in an absolute pressure cooker. I think it would be foolish to minimize the role of the educational environment. Well we can at least agree on that. I don't find what ATX is trying to do particularly offensive. Maybe they are successful, maybe they fail. Either way it is a process and everything will be ok. Given the resources and backing, I think that they will pass accreditation soon after they are eligible. But that is really here nor there and like 2030 or beyond. Any student enrolling in one of the initial cohorts is taking a big risk, imo, and needs to go into that totally eyes open in terms of the potential implications. Esp if they intend to go to grad or a professional school. This isn't that pathway. Again, not the right fit for my kids as we sit here today, but I can understand why others may land in a different place.
  8. Pretty good description of his resignation letter in the context of his tenure at CBER.
  9. I am not sure why you are surprised. The entire process is fucking ridiculous. We are pressure cooking these kids, distorting the educational system, significantly harming adolescent well being and mental health, and the process is being gamed by the institutions. UATX is not the first to observe this, and certainly won't be the last. I actually love the simplicity of "list three verifiable achievements, each described in a single sentence." Package that up with some scores and get on with making some decisions. Maybe some of y'all just need to hear it from other sources to avoid the reflex. https://www.theatlantic.com/education/archive/2016/03/where-admissions-went-wrong/475575/ https://www.newyorker.com/news/our-columnists/the-particular-misery-of-college-admissions-tiktok https://www.nytimes.com/2024/05/01/opinion/college-admissions-applications.html https://www.forbes.com/sites/scottwhite/2025/02/18/the-college-admissions-crisis-how-scarcity-economics-is-failing-our-students/ Oh gee, look at that...
  10. This is a good thing.
  11. If you are doing all the work, it is only because you are trying to bootstrap an argument unrelated to my post you initially responded to, or any others that followed from me. Watching kids navigate the current college admissions process is mind blowing to me. I am not automatically offended by the mere existence of UATX. I am not automatically offended at a marketing post calling out the absurdity of the admissions process. Frankly, not sure why some of you appear to feel so threatened.
  12. No I agree completely. Academia is a very ideologically associated environment.
  13. Interdasting.
  14. I don't think that path makes sense for mine, and I don't see that happening. But I could certainly appreciate that it might be a good fit for others. And of course it's marketing. Just like the 6" high stack of .edu mailers my daughter has sitting on the kitchen counter. Would be interesting to cut through all the noise and hear directly from a few of the students though. I do agree with that.
  15. Probably talked to one of their counter guys and couldn't take it any longer.
  16. And that bar is typically professional licensure and credentialing. Which generally requires a degree from an accredited institution. The name is important, sometimes by statute. Or I guess like good luck with that PhD in plane making from the College of the Tropics and your aerospace industry career. Kinda wild watching some of the knee jerking to criticism of the college admissions and academic process. In past few years I have watched 4 nieces and nephews go through the process. Two of those admitted to UT. Engineering, Business, Law, and Medicine. This shit is fn wild. Just a bunch of ridiculous hoops to performatively jump through.
  17. I knew that you would love the BW tie in.
  18. If you are not a lawyer, and a particularly scum sucking one, I apologize profusely. I totally misread some of our prior exchanges. You are even dumber than I thought.
  19. Not a one that I would consider consequential. Tilt against whatever windmills you wish.
  20. You are particularly the most dishonest poster on this site. Figured it was a mascot/year of graduation handle. You land some, you miss others. But the fundamental assessment remains. May not endear me to the board collective, but just working on the objective truths. I do love yall individually doh.
  21. Lawyering is one of the most dishonest professions. And that is surprising to no one.
  22. I don't think we are too far off here. But if you want a traditional liberal arts education, I am not 100% sure that a place like UT Austin would be my first choice.
  23. That's a pretty basic take. If you are seeking STEM you certainly need to go through one of the name schools. Just basic credentialing dictates. If we are talking liberal arts, I think thats a totally different ball game.
  24. Can't wait till the kstate clown is triggered by the BW mention and drops it to school us on higher education.
