  1. If you are doing all the work, it is only because you are trying to bootstrap an argument unrelated to my post you initially responded to, or any others that followed from me. Watching kids navigate the current college admissions process is mind blowing to me. I am not automatically offended by the mere existence of UATX. I am not automatically offended at a marketing post calling out the absurdity of the admissions process. Frankly, not sure why some of you appear to feel so threatened.
  2. No I agree completely. Academia is a very ideologically associated environment.
  3. Interdasting.
  4. I don't think that path makes sense for mine, and I don't see that happening. But I could certainly appreciate that it might be a good fit for others. And of course it's marketing. Just like the 6" high stack of .edu mailers my daughter has sitting on the kitchen counter. Would be interesting to cut through all the noise and hear directly from a few of the students though. I do agree with that.
  5. Probably talked to one of their counter guys and couldn't take it any longer.
  6. And that bar is typically professional licensure and credentialing. Which generally requires a degree from an accredited institution. The name is important, sometimes by statute. Or I guess like good luck with that PhD in plane making from the College of the Tropics and your aerospace industry career. Kinda wild watching some of the knee jerking to criticism of the college admissions and academic process. In past few years I have watched 4 nieces and nephews go through the process. Two of those admitted to UT. Engineering, Business, Law, and Medicine. This shit is fn wild. Just a bunch of ridiculous hoops to performatively jump through.
  7. I knew that you would love the BW tie in.
  8. If you are not a lawyer, and a particularly scum sucking one, I apologize profusely. I totally misread some of our prior exchanges. You are even dumber than I thought.
  9. Not a one that I would consider consequential. Tilt against whatever windmills you wish.
  10. You are particularly the most dishonest poster on this site. Figured it was a mascot/year of graduation handle. You land some, you miss others. But the fundamental assessment remains. May not endear me to the board collective, but just working on the objective truths. I do love yall individually doh.
  11. Lawyering is one of the most dishonest professions. And that is surprising to no one.
  12. I don't think we are too far off here. But if you want a traditional liberal arts education, I am not 100% sure that a place like UT Austin would be my first choice.
  13. That's a pretty basic take. If you are seeking STEM you certainly need to go through one of the name schools. Just basic credentialing dictates. If we are talking liberal arts, I think thats a totally different ball game.
  14. Can't wait till the kstate clown is triggered by the BW mention and drops it to school us on higher education.
  15. Just empty rhetoric brisket. Nothing substantive. You are not fooling anyone, except those that want to be fooled. But you got your key words in. So kudos I guess.
  16. What precisely is it that offends you? Like speak some details.
  17. I don't remember what my goals were, but quite certain that at this moment I am less in cash, more market invested, less exp[osure to SPY, and trying to move everything reasonable over to high dividend domestics and BRK.
  18. So I guess we know the answer to the question I posed. Do you find anything to disagree with in the first four paragraphs of that screen cap? I have no problem with "sometimes life is hard". To be frank, I am not worried about my "little angles". They will be quite fine and achieve on their own merits and class ranking I am extremely pro-STEM oriented. What is being undermined by the current academic system is traditional liberal arts education. Some of yall are apparently too stupid to even recognize it.
  19. Reminder that there are a lot of total lunatics that post here.
  20. That's a pretty low brow reaction. Do you have any kids applying for college in the next couple years and see the apps they are trying to build for schools like UT? This shit is crazy. Maybe you do maybe you don't. But your response doesn't particularly suggest to me that you see the current college application system with any contrast to what most of us went through in our own experiences (certainly assumptions baked in here). I don't think that reduction to standardized testing is the answer. But the system is very broken man.
  21. Posted without much comment, other than interesting to cross reference with the "my kids can't get into UT thread". With a high achieving sophomore in high school and a couple other behind, this resonates to a certain extent.
  22. I know everyone agrees with the concept until anyone actually tries to do something about it. What we need is a task force to study the issue for the next 12 months, write up a report, and issue some recommendations that everyone can ignore for the rest of the political cycle. Meanwhile the SSA database will operate on COBOL and everyone should just act like this is normal and the real risk is fixing the problem. Oh look, another interest payment due, keep rolling over those t bills until we can't anymore. Keep the carriers gassed up.
  23. Shit man, I spent time writing med recs for people in the Austin State Hospital. You are going to have to work hard to impress me.
  24. Try the time stamp maybe? Hits with GenX too unless you also hate the Illmatic Nas.
  25. Maybe try this.
