  1. Opting out and enrolling is a pretty good deal for Ewers but I can’t see this being an especially positive development for OSU really.
  2. Haha, yeah this is dumb. While it's probably generally true that the presidents won't want to testify, this thing is a LONG fucking way from that being a real concern for anyone. Both Universities have a ton of outs to avoid it before it gets anywhere close.
  3. Just sit back and watch those mouth breathers try and change the narrative that they allowed UT to enter the SEC because they kindly decided to save little brother from obscurity.
  4. I was actually lumping Looch, the administration, and the athletic department all together when I said "they". Functionally there is very little separation between TexAgs and the institution.
  5. Once you saw the shift in real-time where the Looch and the others started posting positively about the move and how it was actually a good thing this was clear. They got their marching orders and were told to shut the fuck up about it.
  6. Bowlsby's entire vibe here reminds me of that Office episode where Creed fucks up some quality control responsibility he has and bad paper goes out. - "and of course, the one year I blow it off, this happens..."
  7. IT confirmed that Perkins won't be visiting and will be at aggy on Saturday. A week ago Gerry was on the same site saying if Texas moves to the SEC they would be tough to beat. Now the SEC move looks inevitable and we can't even hold on to the scheduled visit. Life comes at you fast I guess.
  8. Ohio State is scheduled to open their Fall camp on Tuesday. I guess this move doesn't really have much to do with him getting into the mix to play in 2021, but I wonder if he will enroll and join the team right away. Assuming he'll go to the NFL as soon as possible OSU also gets one less year of eligibility from him given it's a stretch they would get much on the field from him this season. I'm sure this is the the easy part but also funny he can just decide to quit high school and enroll in college. Is there another summer session of Southlake for him to knock out the rest of his requirements or does he just get to inform them that he'd like his high school diploma now please.
  9. Yeah maybe so. My memory is that Colt was the presumed starter for game 1 because he had the year head start in the program and back then it was pretty rare for qbs to start from the jump as a true freshman, even big-time prospects. I sort of remember thinking Snead would get time and gradually take the role during the course of the season as the highly rated guy but that was 15 years ago so I could be wrong.
  10. Thanks, I forgot we had a dedicated thread for qb talk. I'll say, this feels like more of a true tossup than any qb battle at UT I can remember. We've had some hotly contested ones, especially by fans, but you usually had a pretty strong idea who would take the first snap in the first game. Even when dipshit reporters were running with obviously bad information. I have no idea who starts vs. ULaLa, it will really will come down to performance in the August practices. I don't think there is a wrong answer though, they can both be really successful in Sark's offense.
  11. IT QB battle talk: Nahlin sticking with his Hudson prediction but feels like like he's hedging a bit from earlier in the offseason.
  12. Bringing back aggy on Thanksgiving is my preference. Most of my best childhood memories of Thanksgiving is the ags in the family talking shit all day, everyone watching the first half together, then the the aggy family standing up down at halftime and saying some version of: “welp, I guess if the refs are just gonna give this thing to you sips we may as well git’on home then. Gett’in late anyway” Followed by my dad’s sarcastic, “well happy Thanksgiving to y’all. I’m sure next year is the year for you guys”
  13. Howell played. Their top two rbs, top wr, and best defensive player all opted out.
  14. Welp, that's that then. It's official. The thought of the Manning clan dealing with Leach is pretty hilarious though. Eli seems pretty involved in his nephew's recruitment really. Must be bored.
  15. So what are we going to do tomorrow with no news expected, work or something? I guess I am a little curious to find out if I'm still employed.
  16. Hahaha. More elite recruits will stay in Texas because more elite recruits will go to UT. As for the overall number of Texas high schoolers that play college football? I'm not sure, who gives a shit. So now in addition to financially floating these schools for all these years and being responsible for the economic ruin of their cities, we also have to feel guilty for putting them in a tougher position when they are in a recruiting battle against Kentucky and Vanderbilt for Texas 2 and 3 stars?
  17. Zack the Ag with an impressive Helobious-like read of the situation. Really locked in.
  18. To me the most annoying thing Leach ever did was not have the decency to lose in a single other conference game that 2008 season. They were a good team and we drew them in Lubbock, at night, on Halloween weekend. Lost a close game that we should have won, shit happens. But somehow that is the one season where they didn't drop at least 2 conference games. Shit, in 8 out of 10 Leach seasons they lost at least 3. Just one more loss and we win head to head tiebreaker against OU, kick the shit out of Missouri again and play Florida for the National Title. One more conference championship and a damn good shot at another crystal football. Or maybe Gideon could have just caught the ball. God fucking dammit.
  19. Some good connections between the various coaches in the new league. Feels like half the coaches in the league have been on a Saban staff, but just from the new additions: Sark goes way back with Lane. Most recently was Saban's OC. Former Texas OC in Harsin and there is a ton history with Leach from the Tech days. Little Briles from his Baylor tenure and brief Texas playing career. I'm sure Muschamp will pop up as someone's (Georgia's) DC sooner rather than later as well. Lincoln joins a conference with his mentor Leach at MSU. Thousands of cheeseburgers ago Josh Heupel was a player at OU and more recently a fired coach. Should all make for some fun matchups and storylines over the next few years.
  20. I guess this thread is as good as any for this, Billy keeps throwing a hissy fit about how we just aren't ready for the meat grinder that we are entering. Their joke schedule last year is a mirage, check the bowl results: Well...about that. The SEC was an impressive 7-2. Of course 2 of those wins were Alabama (lost 52-24). One of them was aggy over UNC. 3 of the SEC bowl wins were by teams a&m didn't even play (Georgia, Kentucky, Ole Miss). The ags did play both SEC programs who lost their bowl however (Florida lost by 35 to OU & Auburn lost by 16 to Northwestern). Those two also happen to represent their two most impressive regular season wins. That leaves 1 SEC team that won their bowl who the ags actually beat during the season: Miss St. They won an all-timer of an Armed Forces Bowl against Tulsa by 2 points. TLDR: The closer you look at it, A&M's big coronation season becomes even more of a mirage. So thank you for pointing that out Billy.
  21. Call me a cynic, but I have my doubts Looch was propping up the Big12 for their undefeated bowl record last year or OU’s dismantling of Florida (aggy’s single notable win)
  22. Yeah, the cross division rivalry games have been their main scheduling problem. Adding two teams and reorganizing gives them a great chance to solve it.
  23. No kidding. Not even on anyone’s radar last Wednesday morning and they are running through the legal formalities by Monday and Tuesday. Crazy they set this whole thing up with no leaks.
