  1. Looch keeps pushing that narrative hard . "We are a different team than 10 years ago and the horns are going to find out". It's so funny to me, the best SEC team they ever had was their first one where they were most like a Big12 team. Roster full of players recruited to the Big12, Kilff Kingsbury air raid offense and they managed to beat Alabama and smoke OU in the bowl. They had another high water mark last year aided by a joke of a schedule. Aside from those bookends what evidence is there that they are any different at all? They lost to a middle of the road K-State in 2016. Oh, well that was pre-Jimbo. They needed Jimbo to barely beat a short-handed Oke-State (who Texas also beat) team one season ago. The other common opponent that season was LSU who they lost to by 43 points. Deep down they know it's bullshit though, which is why they are fighting this so hard.
  2. Pretty clear posturing that I guess has to be done. Nobody saying it believes it but you go through the motions with these things.
  3. Think the trivial shit that drives you nuts thread is in a different forum. How could you possibly give a shit about this
  4. Weird, no way they would take that pay cut willingly. Doubt there is anything to that (yet).
  5. Athletic article https://theathletic.com/2724083/2021/07/22/sources-oklahoma-and-texas-might-declare-their-intent-to-leave-soon-but-it-could-take-an-awkward-long-time-from-there/?source=user_shared_article Some good info here about timing but it kind ignores the incentive the remaining 8 will have to jump at any chance to join another conference. Sure they want to fuck us but they aren’t going to risk missing out on a chair when the music stops to do so.
  6. Funny that the Big12 admins were apparently blindsided, have no idea why the move is happening, and have been unable to talk to officials at OU or Texas but they do have an opinion on whether a move is imminent or not.
  7. Disagree, but also McMurphy’s source was saying they don’t think it’s a done deal that Texas and OU are leaving the Big12. Immediately after a call about the conference’s future that we didn’t even bother to join.
  8. Ha, I guess Baizer posts here, I didn't realize that. What about Bryan Curtis, you must be lurking around here somewhere. Tap into those old ESPN sources you have and give us something.
  9. He's probably just taking in all of the same data points as we are but it's becoming pretty clear which way the wind is blowing.
  10. If this happens quickly one lame duck season will be more than enough. I don't expect to get a call all season in conference play, it's gonna be a free-for-all out there. Can you imagine how funny it would be if we made the conference championship game and played OU? The Big12 half heartedly hyping a game between the teams that killed it, basically paying for a showcase for another conference? Bowlsby gritting his teeth while (good willing) handing the trophy to Sark? It would be fucking incredible.
  11. Haha, yeah sure. Everything about their behavior in the last 24 hours just screams their confidence in the ability to squash this whenever they please.
  12. There is a lot of truth here, but with aggy that's not enough and never has been. They want to badly to be the Texas flagship and one of the college football blue bloods. Sleeping giant and all that. In their heads they always have been, they just didn't have any of those pesky results to back it up. The mean media refused to acknowledge just how super special they are. They thought being the lone SEC school from Texas was their ticket. That conference continued to take a bigger piece of the pie (money and attention) in the college landscape while they naively thought Texas would slowly slide into obscurity because of the Big 12. You heard Bjork say it yesterday, they want their own identity and to them that only comes if they are the state of Texas' SEC school. Once Texas has that magic patch on their shoulder as well all of a sudden they lose the entirety of what they convinced themselves was their ticket to the big-time.
  13. I'm sure the SEC will allow the Ags to advocate for their own interests to a certain extent, but I wonder how much public fuckery they will have the patience for if the majority of the schools feel like this is a big win for them. I thought a big thing for the SEC was presenting a unified alliance on things. Also curious just how far the ags will push things if they are looking at long odds of blocking the move.
  14. We've blown through "Denial" and "Anger" and, now we're entered "Bargaining" I guess. I just hope they don't rush "Depression".
  15. So if this is real, the absolute earliest it would go into effect (and most likely time?) would be the 2023-2024 season, right? So you are pitching Stewart/Perkins et al on starting SEC play after their first season on campus. Arch headlines the '23 class that would go right into the new conference schedule.
  16. You may be right with regards to what's best for cfb, but it's just not Texas' responsibility to prop up college football or any other program. The SEC move is the best move for Texas. I don't think an SEC move does anything to hurt West Coast recruiting, and probably helps. Austin and the University of Texas sure makes a lot sense for a recruit from SoCal who wants to play in the SEC.
  17. The SEC outmaneuvered everyone for the last 15 years or so. They branded themselves as the only conference that really mattered, made strategic additions and their success in winning most of the National Championships during that span (propped up mostly by Bama) made perception reality. Fortunately for Texas we were always too big to be left behind if the Big 12 didn't work out. Sucks for the rest of the non-OU programs but that's the way it goes.
  18. Fun because he's insane and generally good for content, but not scary anymore. Pretty sure PK has his balls in the back of one of his trophy cases somewhere.
  19. Ha, you just negged me for a pretty innocuous joke on the recruiting board and you’re pissy over here for some reason? Seems like you’re in a bad mood, did you just order a shit load of Big12 branded Surly merch or something?
  20. Well shit...do I have to be the first one to say it? Fine. Not SEC good.
  21. Yeah, leaking it today before it’s official made it pretty imperative to actually get the thing done. We got $9.95ers calling recruits asking them what “Texas to the SEC” would mean to them. Texas’ time with the Big12 probably died today, one way or another.
