  1. Impossible, look how close he gets to touching an SEC WEST receiver on this play: In a normal conference that's obviously a strip and score for Leon.
  2. Sort of. He seems happy with his OSU commitment and will very likely end up there but this isn't exactly predicting a Waddle transfer, signing Rashan Gary, or any of the other message board fantasies over the years. 9.95ers and posters in the know here have indicated that there is communication between the Ewers family and Texas coaches. If something changes with his OSU commitment Sarkisian seems to be making sure that Texas is his first option. Maybe that is just necessary due diligence because of his talent level or maybe the staff feels like it's a real possibility. I don't know shit about fuck but I'm feeling pretty good about our chances with Manning in 2023 in the likely event we miss on Ewers.
  3. Wait, how is he going to prove to everyone that he's the smartest person in the room if he doesn't stubbornly impose his system on everyone no matter the context? I'm beginning to question whether Sark is even driven by his own insecurities.
  4. Yeah, 1st round TEs haven't exactly hit recently: 2020: none 2019: Hockenson (8), Fant (20) 2018: Hurst (25) 2017: OJ Howard (19), Evan Engram (23), David Njoku (29) 2016: none 2014: Ebron (10) 2013: Eifert (21) 2012: none 2011: none None of those guys were really talked about as quite as breathlessly as Pitts is, last guy like that was probably Vernon Davis picked 6th in 2006. He had a nice career but it took him a while to really make much of an impact and he didn't really live up to his pre draft hype. Certainly didn't revolutionize the position or anything.
  5. Other posters here know OL play better than I do but I think this is right, especially for what Flood prefers in his units. Which is why I'm a little skeptical that he ends up taking Okafor's spot at guard.
  6. No doubt, but they have the advantage of his current commitment and Day's success there. If their qbs struggle this season it's easy to just sell that it's on the players and things will take off again once Ewers enrolls. Sarkisian at Texas is more of an unknown. Not that I think Sarkisian will have a particularly tough time selling his ability to develop the qb position.
  7. I've been wondering, is there a Catch-22 situation with Ewers? If you're still holding out hope that he's a possibility the assumption is he wants to see our offense in action because if he flips again he wants to make damn sure it's the last time and he needs to see progress being made. Seems reasonable enough. He's also a guy who probably expects to play right away. If Card wins the job and lights it up that's a great data point that Sark will be able to work his same magic at Texas, but will Ewers be hesitant to come in behind a guy who has several more years of eligibility? Conversely If the qbs struggle Ewers would be confidant that he would win the job but unwilling to sign up for the uncertainty of playing in an offense that has yet to truly turn things around. TLDR: we need our qbs to play well to convince Ewers we will be a high powered offense, but if our qbs play well he may unwilling to risk being a backup qb for a few years.
  8. Christ...just took a look and this is not an exaggeration. There will only be 2 ranked teams on their schedule when the season starts and one of them is LSU who will get the benefit of the doubt but is coming of a 5-5 season.
  9. Certainly possible but if you believe Sark's comments Okafor was our best lineman in the spring (yeah I know). There is probably some coach speak there for a veteran who is consistent and works hard but he's he's strong as hell and played a lot of college football. Mostly poorly but still. With good coaching and keeping him the hell away from tackle maybe he's finally ready to be a thing. If that's the case I guess Karic goes to the bench and is the first guy called at G or T as needed. He was the most common OL splitting their first team reps according to the 9.95ers.
  10. I'd take Banks on defense for sure but seems like he could kill it with Sark as a H-Back/move TE. Guess that is a spot where we don't really need numbers though. It's pretty frustrating that we have so much room under the 85 but the 25 cap is limiting us (if it actually is). Seems guys are going to keep entering the portal that would be legit options for us.
  11. Haha, maybe just shut the fuck up Leon?
  12. Another class of 2016 guy too. Between, Dunn, Thornton, Davis, and Schooler the average age of our defensive 2-deep would make BYU blush.
  13. Everyone except the a&m propaganda ministers have Harris as a Bama-Texas battle but a large portion of their roster bagging on his buddy can't be a bad thing for us.
  14. Yeah we don't need to go full aggy and pretend Leal isn't good. He's performed up to his ranking and will be a first round pick. He's also a little bitch who drank the koolaid so he can fuck right off.
  15. Damn, I expect it from Leon but not sure why Leal decided to subtweet a guy who wasn't even on campus for 6 months.
  16. Man, this might not be the right place for this but I just saw Jonathan Tjarks has cancer, doesn't sound good at all. Mavs fan/Texan that writes for the Ringer, used to write DMN. Fuck cancer
  17. Agreed, this is a good point. I think of Sandler that way too even though he’s obviously a really different type of actor. I’ve seen some god awful Sander movies but I’ve never thought while watching them that his acting was the problem or wondered who thought he could pull that off. And when he’s stretched himself like in Uncut Gems he’s been good. I guess she’s mostly retired now but how about Cameron Diaz? She was fine in lighter rom-com stuff but then in Gangs of New York, surrounded by incredible actors, she’s so distractingly bad. She just clearly wasn’t on the level for that part.
  18. Joaquin Phoenix too. His characters in Gladiator, HER, the Master, Inherent Vice, and You Were Never Really Here are all pretty wildly different in what he’s asked to do and he’s always great. He’s also done the “play a really famous person in a biopic” thing and was great in that as well.
  19. How sad does your life have to be to write an OpEd that one of your favorite things in the world, puns on a child's ride, can no longer be enjoyed because now all you can think about is the racist Native American character that is missing. This shit is bleak: Poor bastard. I know there is a thread on the site about Disney World, I haven't read it so I don't know the vibe. No offense to anyone but grown adults who make Disney a huge part of their identity are weird as shit to me. My daughter is just getting old enough where she would enjoy a theme park and I'm dreading it. I'll value seeing her face light up and her excitement whenever we go but as soon as she grows into being old enough to enjoy real travel we are never going back. I can't imagine an annual trip with teenagers to Disney World or thinking that trip was actually about me and not my kid.
  20. That would be pretty funny. I didn't realize they were still looking for a permanent guy, figured they would give Jones a tryout interim year and then reevaluate in December given the weird timing. I bet Elko could do better than that after another strong season though.
  21. Ha, well you conveniently cut off the part where I said he is an amazing actor. I was just speaking to his range and how it's not necessary to being great. Think of your top 3 or 5 favorite Denzel performances. No matter what you choose I bet you can describe the character he plays using adjectives like "intense, confidant, charming, determined, hypercompetent...". He kind of does what he does and he's literally the best at it. You can't really do the same exercise with someone like Philip Seymour Hoffman. He has way more range than Denzel but that doesn't necessarily make him a better actor, it's just different. Any list of the best actors in the last 30 years would have to include them both.
  22. J. Thompson got banged up in the last scrimmage and they shut him down for the rest of spring. I haven't heard anything about Crawford being hurt, I bet it was just an oversight in that writeup.
  23. I think you could argue somebody like Denzel doesn't really have a huge range but he's obviously an amazing actor. His force of personality kind of makes every character he plays a Denzel-type placed in whatever genre the movie is. Also I think the "range" discussion for real movie stars kind of misses the point of what movie stars are. Or at least what they used to be. In older Hollywood during the studio heyday the biggest stars were cast in the same type of part over and over again because audiences wanted to show up and see them do the thing they loved. Range was for character actors that aren't in the center of the frame and aren't responsible for the box office returns.
