  1. There have been homeless pissing and shitting in the parking garage (First United Methodist I think) at 13th and Lavaca for years. It isn't new. The amount of tents out in the open are new.
  2. Yeah, definitely aware of that. On our visit it wasn’t as in your face as I expected, UT it is definitely there.
  3. Campus is gorgeous. I was pretty impressed with the academic program they have. But yes, pretty sure it is on to grad school after that.
  4. Posted this elsewhere, so sorry for the repost, but I didn’t see this thread at the time. I have twins who are about to be seniors at Anderson, and they got their class rank earlier this month that determines top 10%. Son is an auto admit to UT and hopefully will get into Cockrell (just outside top 1%). Daughter is top 6.48% so missed auto admit by 3 spots. She is more than likely going to s smaller liberal arts school, but that auto admit would have been nice to have in the back pocket, as UT is probably the only school that they will both apply to. Right now his favorite/big reach is MIT I would think UT is next followed by a big pile of Rice, Michigan, Carnegie Mellon, Purdue, Georgia Tech and others. Applying to Stanford as well and maybe a few more. Daughter’s favorites at the morning from ones we have seen are Reed and Trinity. I’m flying with her to Minneapolis on Wednesday to see Carleton, St Olaf, Macalester and UM. Going to look at some other small liberal arts schools as well.
  5. Even better I have another daughter about to be a sophomore in high school. I look forward to three kids in college at the same time.
  6. Thanks. He has taken Algebra I and II, Geometry, AP Stats (got a 5), Pre-AP Pre Cal and is taking AP Calculus B/C this year (technically it is IB, so he won't take the AP test). She will be a Liberal Arts major, so that should help. And I apologize for the not so humble brag, but I am really proud of both of them. They have busted their asses through the IB program at Anderson.

  8. 1-0 Post Oak wins. Kid strikes out looking with tying run on 3rd. That would suck. Poor kid.
  9. Does Lake Travis even have LL? Figured it was pony or other. Never noticed them in LL.
  10. Played it many years ago. Really cool and in incredibly good condition. Think @longhorn10 played it last year.
  11. No, African American. 4 tables of 1/2 running in addition to Big O. Just flopped 2 pair with small blind special. Guy called my flop bet with K6 (top pair) to hit three outer on turn. In other words, it’s a good game.
  12. Shit he just moved to Big O. I may need to do that.
  13. Playing 1/2 at APP right now. Guy to my right is making it 15-25 preflop every hand. This could be awesome or a disaster.
  14. That show is greatness.
  15. Any word on the WH Lufkin game? In 11U Northwest beat Washington County last night to advance to state.
  16. End of each leg driving all my wife and I wanted to do was get a Redbreast and a Guinness.
  17. So two years ago my wife and I went to Ireland for the first time. Flew into Shannon and drove through Killarney National Park, did some hikes and spent the night in Kenmare. Drove Ring of Kerry the next day to Dingle and spent three nights in Dingle. Drove the next day through Cliffs of Moher and the Burren to Galway and spent a night there. Next day drove through the Connemara and spent the night in Westport. Next day back to Shannon and spent the night at hotel next to the airport for flight out next morning (all these days driving involved stops and checking out ruins, etc.) Loved the trip, but felt it was too much driving. Even though the distances aren't that much, it is definitely slower driving and mentally tiring, but not impossible. Last month we went back, again flew into Shannon and drove directly to Dingle. Spent three nights there, then three nights in Ballyferriter, a village of about 200 people 5 miles from Dingle. Trip was incredible. Got to know many people in the pubs, particularly in Ballyferriter, explored all of the Dingle Peninsula, played a few rounds of golf at Ceann Sibeal, and just had a great relaxing time. Talked to people about Gaelic football in the pub--so cool how these tiny villages have their own team. Mentioned that I wanted to get a jersey from the local Ballyferriter team (Gallarus), and a young guy at the pub said he would drop off one of his game-worn jerseys at our hotel. The trip was incredible.
  18. Incorrect, Huck (unless you are talking about more than 10-15 years ago. They only used Blue and Red for the D11 city tourney, not all stars. WH and Northwest had the same issue with two charters. They used to be able to split up the majors and minors into two "separate" leagues, a higher and lower level, but can't do that anymore. Related note, the Northwest 11 YOs play Washington County tonight for Texas East Section 1 title. Northwest is hosting, so that is a benefit.
  19. Played at Shuffle for the first time Friday early afternoon. Nice place.
  20. So given that I am on the 18th floor of the building in the picture above Gloria's looking north, does that mean I will be lucky enough to stare into the window of another building 50 feet away instead of the Capitol and UT Tower?
