  1. On ALPP, I’m not seeing any volume numbers since I’m on my phone, but I’m guessing retail who were thinking we moon this morning are dumping their positions to lock in the gains they have. I’m gonna continue to hold what I have and maybe snag a little more on dips until something more appealing catches my eye.
  2. Anyone else enjoying the OBMP spike today? I'm trying to figure out what is driving it, but it just looks like a lot of speculation on Twitter?
  3. Yes, My understanding is that we'll pour concrete underneath as a base to lay it on. Either we'll pour footings and stretch weed barrier between, or we'll pour it all the way across then lay the boards on top. It sounds like we are leaning toward the latter with drainage channels down the centers. That way water can flow below the deck out to the curb and doesn't collect under the deck and make mosquito-ville USA
  4. The guy at the lumber yard seemed pretty surprised when I called him to get a quote on how many board feet of teak I was needing. I'm waiting for a price, but if my google searches are close to right, it's still price competitive with the all-in cost of the peacock pavers.
  5. I took some profits here, just in case this is a red herring. I'm holding the rest to see if there's anything to this

I'm glad to hear you are getting into it . I am over 100 classes into the year and I regret nothing about it. In fact I went both this morning and yesterday. I too am 42 years old and I thought the days of trying to stand on my hands or on my head were behind me, but I have done both each of the last two days.
  7. Okay, I finally go a formal proposal from the peacock paver people. And holy fuck it's expensive. The pavers themselves actually aren't that bad, but shipping is adding 40% to the cost. Plus the labor to put them down looks like it's going to be quite high. So now the wife wants to do Teak decking instead of having the hardscape everywhere. Something like this picture that she found on the internet: Does anyone have anything like this at their pool? Do you love/hate it? Are we crazy?
  8. Two feet of dirt, then it’s been limestone the rest of the way.
  9. They took the direct flight away within a year of me moving from Austin to Midland. I have been hoping for this day for a long, long time.
  10. The metric actually has nothing to do with the price of either item. Instead, one barrel of oil has about the same energy content as 6,000 cubic feet of natural gas. In the last 10-15 years, large volumes of natural gas have been relatively easier to extract than barrels of oil, so the price differential has diverged from the energy content differential. So to return to that metric from a price standpoint, either demand for natty has to skyrocket, we have to get WAY better at getting oil out of the ground, or something along those lines.
  11. A few weeks ago, I got sent a pitch deck from a group that is setting up mobile crypto-mining operations inside shipping containers and running them off electricity generated from flare gas out in the field using satellite internet as a datalink.
  12. So I don't need my LTC any more?

    Tennis Thread

Any 107/105 players here? It's just about all that gets played where we are. For the uninitiated: - a point starts by either a player or the pro feeding a ball into play (no serving) - you can play doubles or singes - scoring systems vary depending on local rules, but generally you receive 2 points for an opponent hitting out of bounds or failing to get the ball over the net. You get 5 points if the ball bounces twice without the opponent touching it with their racquet (a "clean winner"). You get 10 points for an overhead "winner". We play to 107 points. It's fast paced and keeps the HR up without the lulls of changing sides to serve, doing second serves, etc.
  14. We have our club's two man tourney starting on Thursday. It's 54 holes over three days of 2-man low ball. The amount of rain we've had this summer (Midland) has made the gunch/native areas grow to ridiculous levels. Normally, if a shot goes out there, you have about a 50% chance of finding your ball and another 50% chance of having a swing if you do find it. Now ... you have about a 5% chance of finding your ball and a 1% chance of having a swing if you do. There are going to be some big ass numbers posted this weekend ... I'm looking forward to it.
  15. Someone talk to me about coping/decking ... We got some samples dropped off yesterday. The most popular one seems to be a fairly porous Mexican travertine that I would describe as cream colored. That shit is not gonna fly with the Mrs. One, because it looks too "every 1980s pool I've ever seen" and 2) because it being a more earth tone, won't jive with our white/gray color scheme (see photos in previous post). The other option in Travertine is indeed white/gray but almost looks like marble and is too "busy". So it looks like we are either looking at going with just plain concrete, or a manufactured stone/tile to give the clean/modern look she is looking for. Onto the questions: Does anyone have anything like that around their pool? Does it get really hot in the sunlight? Do you love it, or wish it was something different? Has anyone heard of peacock pavers and do you have them around your pool? TIA
  16. Agreed, two hungover steps out of the bedroom door and I'm floating in the pool.
  17. That’s the servant’s quarters. The man cave is out of frame in this photo.
  18. Paid my deposit today. He already came out and drew the outline He claims they will start in mid-September
  19. I've never been to summer NAPE, but I imagine this one will be kinda rowdy considering how long it's been
  20. There’s another thread for this … but it could be just another sign of inflation [emoji2371]
  21. I’m in Midland, so we get that “West Texas Premium” added to pretty much everything. Our bid is just under $150k
  22. This is pretty interesting … based on my handicap I should be playing the up tees. But this chart says I should be playing from the tips.
