  1. That’s reasonable but I guess we’ll see what happens in China after they open and for that matter Europe/Italy/Spain. We have roadmaps so I think we’ll find out while we are in the middle of the shit if round two is only a season away.
  2. Peak (cases) is late April if we’re Really lucky, probably more like mid-May IMO. The boredom I already see affecting some people; my parents for one and already made them stop going to church and cancelled their June cruise. But if you want “excitement”, the stock market might be more your game.
  3. This looks an awful lot like someone tried to reply to their original account with a sock but failed
  4. Aren’t they rolling out drive thru tests in Colorado? Do y’all have access to any other avenue for tests? Haven’t kept up with other states’ access but I heard local clinics here in nyc have tests; although you have to have fever, cough before they will offer it. Hope y’all feel better soon, but seems like ya’ll are doing the right thing.
  5. quoting myself but looks like i was wrong. Probably due to NOT HAVING ANY FUCKING TESTS done at an appreciable level but still wrong. Have we even hit a case in every state? Almost, right? Hang in there everyone, regardless of being sick everything shutting down is posing a slew of problems.
  6. I cancelled on two separate pub crawls going on today, sucks. Stupid corona
  7. This guy and the rep who got the cdc to agree to pay for testing. She rocks
  8. Describes my parents In Austin. Sigh. Not sure how I can convince my dad to stop going to fucking church Or stations of the cross but here we are. Anyway the diocese will do the right thing and cancel services this wknd?
  9. It says they’re Not testing bc it takes a lot of resources away from the hospital so they’re focusing on the vulnerable populations only in order to prioritize care. So if you are healthy and young, And you have symptoms that are consistent With corona, then they want you to just stay home and wait it out. Lots of questions remain on how testing here could hamper care resources but I’d hope we have more capabilities than the Swedes. Who knows though. Testing still critical IMO Bc I want to know if I have allergies or this virus. I want to know that if I have to stay home bc the subway shuts down, then do I allow my gf’s sister and her man to come or get them tested first? Her parents are 60+, do they let their grandson come over and stay before being tested? Testing still helpful right now. edit: they also have around 500 infected, looked to Italy, saw the wave coming and realized that one way to get ahead of it is by focusing care. Testing still gives us an advantage for now.
  10. Ah, thanks. I have no skin in the game right now but my buddy does it professionally and throws random tips here and there. However, I am trying to see where I can get some liquidity and planning on jumping in once we hit peak virus, so .. late April? Dunno.
  11. Gonna say I checked at 931am and it said 7.06% down. So first breaker kicked, right? News all slowly updating
  12. Ha, thought the same. Mine is comparatively the same amount. Couple new faces, couple regulars haven’t been there but generally the same number. Tune might change next week though. at my gym they have the little wipe stations All over and I always use them after I am done but might start before too. I get why they would shut it down but if I’m stuck at home for two weeks with no gym or bars, things will get interesting real soon.
  13. Really really hope we don’t get there if only bc for whatever reason, the NYC or NY government really step it up in times of crisis IMO. They obviously have their normal graft, idiots, etc but looking at 9/11, the blackout, the fuckhead uhual driver, they got their shit together and helped keep the rest of us calm when shit hit the fan. Not sure what the containment center in New Rochelle is supposed to do since it looks like people can voluntarily leave it (but are they strongly “advised” not to? Honestly have no idea) but it’s something. They might still shit the bed but still think they’ll try to do anything they can before shutting down the city Milan style.
  14. @GRHorn had a good post on the other thread, sorry forgot to respond, that living in nyc I’ve probably been exposed. I agree, just find it impossible to not have been considering bars, international travelers, the subway, dirty slothful co-workers, etc. I resigned myself to the fact I’ll probably get it but I’m banking on being in that 80%. bad thing is that my allergy season just started on Sunday night; usually lasts 2-4 weeks. Itchy swollen eyes, runny nose, slight congestion headache, and sneezing. Gonna be a fucking blast worrying if I’m sick or just allergic, AND then explaining that to people if it is just allergies.
  15. I just like calling it the Wuhan cause I’ve always liked gallows humor and it sounds “funnier” that way. On the other hand, I think it depends on who is saying it. If you watch rick and morty, some people can’t say “squantch” cause it just sounds ... gross. Same here, if a hard core trumper “Build the wall” fucko says it, I’m assuming the worst. But a normal looking person? I’m cool with it.
  16. That’s it. There are other similar products on amazon, no clue if they are just as good though.
  17. The Salbree microwave popper. I suck at posting pics otherwise I would. Easy to clean, no oil needed, Cheap, no worries about bag chemicals, and I usually have less than 3 or 4 unpopped kernels. Also found that the kernels I can buy (Goya is the best I’ve found) at a normal supermarket “look” better than almost all the bag varieties. my family loved popcorn growing up so I have it often, once a week at least. I try to make it “healthier” by using 1tablespoon of olive oil per 2 oz of kernels and less salt but it still tastes bad ass.
  18. My initial worry was That they’d lock down the MTA, but now I don’t think they will unless absolutely positively have to and there is literally no other option. They’ll cancel schools, work remotely, force people to not ride at rush hour, anything before the MTA goes down. I’m all for protecting people over the economy but if you shut down nyc you close the stock market and not sure that will be better in the long run. Or that we can climb out of that hole for a very long time.
