There's no one way to do it so that question can't really be answered. It depends on the set you're looking at.

Perfect. Great to have visual confirmation that the SEC does indeed do less with more. Or should that be:
SEC: It Just Wastes More (talent)
So the SEC took their 2-to-1 NFL combine talent advantage and went 1-3 against the Big 12 in bowl games. Interesting.

Who can forget those recent Longhorn internet campaigns such as:
Roger Clemens - He should be in the Hall of Fame, it's a conspiracy!
Lance Armstrong - Why is the media against him? He's really a great guy!
Cedric Benson - He's just misunderstood, repeatedly!
Russell Erxleben - It wasn't his fault!-

What I find interesting on this thread is that if he'd transferred to UT instead of OU (or come here originally) we'd be talking about how great he is and what a good pro QB he will be. Much like Mayfield last year -- if he'd been OUR douchebag QB we'd all have loved him....
"What I find interesting on this thread is this alternate reality I've made up in my head that actually has nothing to do with this thread."
Yes, because Texas internet boards have always done nothing but cheer on former Longhorns doing stupid things. Oh wait, no they haven't.

Our domination of State of Texas elite collegiate athletics teams in these sports is nearly unique. Here are the states with multiple schools, I've included Texas again so it's all in one spot. Warning, major data longcat ahead. The basic summary is that the only other schools showing such in-state dominance are Ohio State and LSU. Pretty much everyone would consider those two to be the only actual major college sports programs in their respective states. Hmm. Our in-state dominance over other schools is absolutely unique for places with multiple P5 schools, with Alabama and maybe Indiana being somewhat close, or at least in the same zip code. My other takeaway is that Virginia and Washington should be embarrassed.

The vision of some smartass NBA player testing this theory out in the near future at the end of a blowout game is too good to pass up. I hope someone does it.
Although I'm assuming the actual wording of the rules allows the refs to differentiate between "intentional loss of control" and actual loss of control.

Referring back to the discussion of final top 4 rankings in the main 3 sports, since my research is apparently being referenced all over the internet without getting credit today (this and the Texas 247 recruit rankings chart), the criteria were top 4 in the final AP poll or top 4 in the final coaches poll through the 2013 season. Starting with the college football playoff, of course, reaching that is the criterion.
Despite what Aggies would like you to believe, Top 4 was selected so football was on even footing with basketball and baseball, which have both obviously used postseason tournaments for decades. The Final Four was used for basketball and CWS semifinals was used for baseball (or being one of the last 4 teams back in the double elimination days).
Here is the list of most Top/Final Fours in Football, Basketball, Baseball, and Hockey:
1t. Michigan - 44 1t. Texas - 44 3. Southern Cal - 37.25 4. Oklahoma - 33.75 5. Ohio State - 32.5 6. Michigan State - 29 7t. Alabama - 26.5 7t. North Carolina - 26.5 9. Minnesota - 26 10t. St. Joseph's - 0 Hockey was added because in fairness lots of northern and midwestern schools consider that their third sport instead of baseball. St. Joe's is included at the bottom because they reached a final four but it was vacated by penalty.

Is that so?If you know Cosell’s work, you know he’s very muted in his praise of prospects. He typically throws in a “can have trouble driving ball at times” or something similar. No mentions of that here.
https://sports.yahoo.com/greg-cosells-draft-analysis-josh-allen-young-wild-stallion-needs-channeled-163817268.htmlAllen has big-time arm strength. He can make any throw at any level of the defense.
Along with multiple paragraphs about his arm strength.
I don't know why you keep arguing this. Murray is a fantastic prospect in many ways. Elite ++ arm strength relative to the NFL just isn't one of those ways, but that is almost worthless anyway. -
That dude gave Texags credit for my chart. That's some bullshit. Ha.-

He’s gonna be fascinating to watch. Midge but elite arm and legs. Got in argument on recruiting board over that but here Greg Cosell agrees.
Yeah, no. You got in an argument because you said Murray has an elite ++ arm and will immediately be one of the 5 strongest arms in the NFL. Nothing in that scouting report supports that assertion.
Again, arm strength is the most overrated aspect of a quarterback's ability, but that's what was being discussed. Pure throwing velocity.

The premise that Beck is potentially going somewhere in the draft or will even make a practice squad is odd to me. His hands were okay. His speed is okay. His size is okay. His mental approach is okay (he had multiple penalties). His injury history is putrid. Outside of Herman being a big fan of the guy, what is there to motivate a roster spot?
I think he has a shot at a practice squad simply because the NFL uses TEs at a much higher rate than colleges still, so there are fewer people for more roles.
Kind of like the reason there are so many garbage left-handed pitchers in the major leagues.

You should try reading better. I specifically said he understands his system isn't perfect and needs to evolve. What's even funnier than people's butthurt over his system is your butthurt whenever anyone criticizes him in any way. He's married with kids, man, he's not interested.

Ha, yeah. He has decided to take on a persona in his writing where he assumes his system is perfect and so any team whose results run counter to his system's expectations must be using some sort of black magic. In reality he understands that his model is evolving and that such situations are actually evidence he needs to continue tinkering, but in his writing he comes across as though he doesn't realize that.
It's understandable from the context of his content creation expectations and driving readership and engagement, but it certainly isn't a plus for engendering faith in his work.

Someone not mentioned on this thread but who was brought up on the Texas softball thread is Joan Joyce.
Perhaps the greatest softball player ever, national basketball team member, LPGA golfer.
-
Yeah, vacated wins is one of the dumbest consequences in existence. Plus most schools, like Texas, still count them as losses in the school's overall program record.
Although given our history with cheating opponents, I do think we should have our athletic department calculate a new program winning percentage based on removing vacated losses.
-
Without looking at the specific numbers in detail, being average at stuff rate but having a lot shorter than average conversion distance should lead to an above average conversion rate.
-
Seems like he's identified one of the common threads but hasn't figured out how to account for it, that being possession-based offenses like the triple option. There are of course other versions of possession-based offenses like the one Texas rolled out in 2018. Sometimes they're possession-based out of necessity rather than desire or design.
Something about his system is still underrating those teams, enough that he felt obliged to publish this article.

S&P+ rankings: Overperformance or overcorrection?
in Football
Posted
Different ways in different sets. The schedule rating on the regular ratings page (not linked in the menu right now) is just the average power rating of their opponents. The schedule rating on the EWP ratings page is the PWP rating the team would need to have in order to expect a .500 record against the schedule they faced.
