I'll admit, I find liberals pretty annoying but fucking conservatives are worse than a busted hemorrhoid. They are like that fat person perpetually talking about their latest fad diet but can't seem to just eat less food and exercise.

As I've said, this is basically where I've been for a long time. The nonstop rank hypocrisy of the GOP when they claim to care about fiscal responsibility and wanting small government is just stomach-turning. And that's the nicest way to put it that I could come up with.

But it's important to note that there are some principled and actual conservatives out there. Not many but some.

I believe that liberal fiscal policy ideas will inevitably fail, but I also recognize that many if not most of them are arguing for them because they believe that they will help people not just because they think they won't fail. I can have a respectful policy disagreement with someone who thinks they will work as long as I know that person is arguing from a position of wanting to help society and people be as happy and taken care of as possible.

Exactly what about tariffs, a massive trade war, and government handouts to those affected by the terrible policy is actually supposed to help people? Even the farmers getting bailed out are only going to be brought back to a level maybe even with where they started out. And even that's up in the air.

need to learn you can not go around assaulting people

It's quite possible the shooter committed assault first. But then you'd have to understand the law to know that.

An “assault” is an intentional, unlawful threat by word or act to do violence to the person of another, coupled with an apparent ability to do so, and doing some act which creates a well-founded fear in such other person that such violence is imminent.

Someone needs to tell Congressman DeSantis that socialism works in plenty of places, including the United States.

I wonder if he's in favor of eliminating Social Security benefits being paid out in his home state of Florida. I mean, he hates entitlement programs right? That should be popular in his run for governor of Florida.

  4. What a completely predictable maneuver.

Once again the Republican Party proves it LOVES big government when big government is buying off its voters. Bunch of spineless and gutless bullshit artists.

I did not miss your post.  I had to go to the airport to pick up the missus.  Sorry for the delay.

Yes, I think Puerto Ricans are Americans.

Then your initial post in this sequence made zero sense, which was the only thing everyone else was saying.

  6. Being born in the USA does make you an American.  Being born in PR makes you Prican and a US citizen.
That's a nice trick you've set up for yourself there where being American and being a US citizen are different.

Seems like you're claiming that Puerto Ricans aren't American. Is that your claim?
  7. What are you talking about. AOC defaulted to race in her tweet. Are we on the same planet right now?
Rep DeSantis, it seems you‘re confused as to “whatever I am.”

I am a Puerto Rican woman. It‘s strange you don’t know what that is, given that ~75,000 Puerto Ricans have relocated to Florida in the 10 mos since María.

But I’m sure these new FL voters appreciate your comments!
You asked why people were defaulting. People weren't. AOC responded by saying she's a Puerto Rican woman. You'll note, assuming you're capable, that this includes the word woman in order to address DeSantis's idiotic comment. She also prefaced it with Puerto Rican in order to proceed to tie it in to DeSantis's upcoming election.

Now that I've explained it to you go be a moron somewhere else.

    How am I wrong?

Because you believe that being born in NYC makes her an American instead of a Puerto Rican.

Meanwhile, reality says that being born in Puerto Rico would also make her an American. You weren't "wrong" in the sense that she's not American, you were wrong in the sense that you believed being Puerto Rican was a different option.

The more confusing part to me is why people are defaulting to race and not gender. The guy says "Woman or whatever you are", so wouldn't the natural assumption and faux political outrage be "ASSUMING GENDER! Implying sh'es a woman or dismissively a TRANSPERSON!". He didn't say "PRican or Mexican or whatever you are".

Nobody is defaulting to race you idiot, the target of the comment responded that she's a Puerto Rican woman for a cynical attempt at scoring political points out of the other guy's stupid comment. Like I told you earlier, every time you click on Submit Reply you just show everyone how ignorant you are.

  10. lulz

I tell people I'm a Texan, but I was born in Austin so I guess I'm an American. This is obviously more complicated than that as she's referencing PR as an ethnicity, but it's always funny to see another person who doesn't realize Puerto Ricans are American.

    lol just stahp, hucklebarry.

The problem with posting in a forum like this is that people will read your posts. Sometimes people will call you out for telling lies, other times they'll call you out for making pointless and irrelevant posts, and they'll even call you out for using terrible logic. You hit the trifecta with that post and it's probably the right move to start waving the white flag like you are now.

I think you'll find that your bigger issue is that the more you post the more people realize how ignorant you are.

I didn't just make something up. It's funny you think I did and that I ought to have a cited reference in ALA format for every interaction or conversation that ever takes place. You are a weird autist pedant who probably does notate every interaction, down to wardrobe detail, but that isn't normal and you are gross.

So you cited a random Austin person with whom you had contact in your personal life that has no relevance to the conversation on this forum? That's the story you're going with?

The strange hand-waving digression at the end of this post didn't work, by the way. Everyone still realizes what a weird, irrelevant, and pointless post you made.

  13. lol. I think I just got "Were you even there'd?"
No, you just got called out for making something up, or possibly not understanding the difference between different people having different opinions on one hand and hypocrisy on the other.

Austin guy: Wear your BETO shirt to not only outwardly and visibly share your political affiliations and desires, but also to identify with others and help them know it's okay to think and feel like you do

Austin guy, 2 weeks ago: if you wear a MAGA shirt in public, then it is HATE SPEECH and you deserve to have a DR. Pepper DUMPED on your SKULL!1111

    Which Austin guy is that?

Sure thing man. Are you still saying that these other meetings did not take place? In 2015? Before the election of Trump? Perhaps you should calm down a bit. Read the story and comment on the story that showed her meeting with people in 2015. That's all.

Your question is pointless. I'm sure the meetings took place, mostly because I'm not an idiot that ignores issues because I think it might make my team look bad.

So, do you think that Russian agents meeting with and manipulating campaign and/or government officials is a problem? Yes or no.

  16. 1 minute ago, PittsburghTiger said:

Nah, I posted it more because of the date, 2015, when she had meetings with other folks here. The date leading itself to the fact that she, and her friends, were cultivating links for a while, not just since the 2016 election.

So you are saying she did not have these other meetings?

Go ahead with your thread policing.

That's not thread policing, dipshit, that's calling you out for being a hypocritical team playing moron.

She also came and met with some officials in 2015 so I don't thin k this is some new development.

    https://uk.reuters.com/article/uk-usa-russia-butina-exclusive/exclusive-alleged-russian-agent-butina-met-with-u-s-treasury-fed-officials-idUKKBN1KC0DE

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Maria Butina, accused in the United States of spying for Russia, had wider high-level contacts in Washington than previously known, taking part in 2015 meetings between a visiting Russian official and two senior U.S. officials.

The meetings, disclosed by several people familiar with the sessions and a report prepared by a Washington think tank that arranged them, involved Stanley Fischer, then Federal Reserve vice chairman, and Nathan Sheets, then Treasury undersecretary for international affairs.

Butina traveled to the United States in April 2015 with Alexander Torshin, then the Russian Central Bank deputy governor, and they took part in separate meetings with Fischer and Sheets to discuss U.S.-Russian economic relations during Democratic former President Barack Obama’s administration.

The two meetings, which have not been previously reported, reveal a wider circle of high-powered connections that Butina sought with American political leaders and special interest groups.

    L O Fucking L.

You have been completely missing from either thread discussing this situation for weeks but suddenly pop up now that there's a link to a Democrat administration. Forgive us if we realize you don't actually give a shit about our national security but only care about Democrats looking bad in comparison to Republicans.

    Transparent as hell.
