  1. Cignetti had them well prepared but they made some critical mistakes and now talent is taking over. They're a #15 team or so but will probably host a first round playoff game so that's awesome for them.
  2. Well that's not guaranteed yet.
  3. That won't change any of the extreme points for Texas. Miami is west of Boston and north of Hawaii. We've played the Orange Bowl, for the record.
  4. Ah I actually had them reversed in my head but you are correct (assuming stadiums haven't moved). That makes 1931 @ Harvard the farthest east for Texas.
  5. For Texas - North: @Washington 1975 East: @Harvard 1931 South: @Hawaii 1995 West: @Hawaii 1995 Next thread derail.
  6. Agree with the left behind guys, Big 12 football is still fun to watch and a quality product.
  7. If it's the same place then it's still the farthest west they've ever played. It's just not the first time.
  8. It's possible for there to be a 3-way tie of undefeated teams in conference play with these super conferences if they don't use pods to rotate divisions. Imagine that situation. One team will be left out because of a schedule they don't control and will be an undefeated power conference team that doesn't get a bye. And the team that loses the CCG will be rated even lower than the undefeated team that missed it because now they have a loss. Obviously this is unlikely to ever actually happen but if your structure makes it a possibility then your structure sucks.
  9. Time makes things fuzzy but Missouri didn't have their SEC years until the second and third seasons in the SEC. Their first season they missed a bowl game. But yeah, I don't see that happening for Oklahoma.
  10. Perhaps but he enabled me to shit talk Oklahoma and that's both my birthright and my responsibility as a Texas alumnus and fan.
  11. That is a terrible idea. The Big 12 has been a better football conference than the ACC for decades and is still a better football conference than the ACC this year even without Texas and Oklahoma (not that Oklahoma would be that helpful this year, man it warms my heart to have to add this parenthetical).
  12. Hahaha that thread is full of people suggesting things that computer ratings systems have been doing for 30 years. Particularly hilarious is where they say you could use SOR but then consider MOV but not straight MOV because there should be diminishing returns on blowouts. ESPN's Strength of Record but with MOV considered but not straight MOV is exactly what FPI is. Idiots.
  13. Not sure what rock you've been living under but that is wildly inaccurate. And besides, your Indiana/Texas comparison is missing a whole lot of other key points like Texas having throttled Michigan while Indiana struggled and Texas having a schedule 40-50 spots tougher overall.
  14. That wouldn't matter to the morons who are arguing against Texas right now. Losses to unranked teams don't count, just wins over ranked teams.
  15. Lol that you think the MWC and AAC pull attendance numbers like the legacy Big 12 teams. AAC is averaging 24k with ECU leading at just under 38k MWC is averaging 25k with Fresno State leading at 40k Big 12 is averaging 48k. Legacy Big 12 programs (were there before Texas and OU announced their departure) are averaging 50k with Baylor the lowest at 43k. Literally the worst legacy Big 12 team has a bigger following than the best from the conference you named.* The Big 12 is averaging a higher attendance than the ACC. SEC - 80,168 Big Ten - 65,725 Big 12 - 48,205 ACC - 46,031 Independent - 38,549 Pac-12 - 29,455 Mountain West - 24,962 American - 24,323 Sun Belt - 21,833 C-USA - 15,471 MAC - 14,865 * - need to correct this, I forgot about Kansas, they're at 36k
  16. 2024 Texas is much more talented than 2011 Texas. 2011 Texas A&M was similarly talented to 2024 Texas A&M.
  17. Losses to unranked teams don't matter you should only count wins against ranked teams. /2024 Ole Miss apologists
  18. Some real insightful analysis in here. If everything goes as badly as it could possibly go we could lose. Y'all make Desmond Howard seem like a football savant. And all this pants-wetting about the toughest environment in the history of the world. Give me a break. As if 2011 when a much less talented Texas team beat a similarly talented A&M team when those yokels thought they were playing us for the last time ever didn't happen. Their stadium gets pretty loud. Ooh, scary.
  19. Yeah that was my first thought. I can only imagine the conversations after the firing. "Hey Coach, we would like you to be interim head coach beginning this week." "Hahaha fuck you."
  20. So Herman has sunk his career to the point that coaches aren't just getting fired for losing to him, they are getting fired for only beating him by 3.
  21. He's talking shit on the internet and shit is getting talked back to him on the internet. Who gives a shit?
  22. On conversion attempts touchdowns are 2 points and safeties are 1 point. Safeties are worth less than touchdowns at all times but they're still a score so that makes sense.
  23. Yes, games played so far and Ole Miss's remaining schedule (Florida and Mississippi State) is worse than ours (Kentucky and A&M) so it will only help us in that measure.
  24. Ole Miss has a lower full season strength of schedule than Texas.
  25. Ole Miss lost to two teams that are currently unranked.
