Kim Jong Un does fine and that’s all that matters. They never gave a shit about their people.  Most of the wealth belongs to the military in NK.

China uses North Korea for their own geopolitical objectives.  Why on earth would China ever allow NK to develop nuclear ICBMs? They could have shut that shit down anytime with a phone call but they didn’t.  And now the United States is capitulating with a Summit and who knows what else.

China is the big winner in this.  North Korea is only a pawn.

That is the most twisted partisan view you could possibly have.

China is losing North Korea as a buffer.  Japan and South Korea are the biggest winners.  The South now has a huge military arsenal on their north border to defend against Chinese invasions.

Can't read link without subscription.   If NK giving up their nukes is a done deal, with verification, then I'd happily give Trump all the credit he wants.

If the 2 countries are unified and democratic, it doesn't matter what NK does with their nukes.  South Korea has twice the population of the North so I don' t think we have much to worry about.

I think Kim understands that at some point, his family is going to lose control over the country.  Even if he keeps and iron grip, his sons or grandsons will eventually lose and his entire family probably ends up dead.  He was educated in the West and knows how fucked up his country is even if his people don't.  If he exits now, he's go down in history like Gorbachev instead of a Gaddafi or Saddam.

  3. It's amazing how the rhetoric has gone from nuclear war to reunification over the past 6 months.  Both the North and South Koreans are winning big here.  Kim will be making an official trip to the USA inside of 2 years.  Book it.

Not sure they would bite on a third, since they could get a 3 after he walks in free agency. They're going to want more. They've been on a fishing expedition for a bigger bite. I'm not sure they're really in that desperate to get rid of him, and the Cowboys probably aren't that anxious to pay the salary he wants. And until Witten officially retires, there's not much cap room to work with.

Thomas wants a new deal and he's threatened to hold out if he doesn't get one.

As of today Dallas is sitting at around 9 million in cap space.  That doesn't include the $3 million they are going to get for Scandrick June 1.  Hell.. if they cut Crawford, they would save 6 million post June 1.

Dallas' cap situation should improve dramatically next year too btw.  24 million in dead cap space (dez and romo made up a huge chunk this year) will only be around 1.6 million.  2019 Dallas has 64 million in cap space available.  Martin will probably eat a chunk as will Lawrence and Irving but still.. They will be able to afford Thomas if they really want him.

My guess is Dallas will give up a 3 in the 2019 draft for Earl or wait it out till he is released.

He's probably going to hold out now too.  They might get fewer than 8 games from him this year and no picks at all if they don't trade him soon.

Well, Kanye actually believed that fake Harriet Tubman quote that I posted from his Twitter.  Apparently being a "free thinker" means the truth really doesn't matter.

He wont be the first and wont be the last to retweet a fake quote.  I think his heart is in the right place and like it or not, he's getting people talking and discussing this issue differently.

Maybe there is something to the argument that lower expectations create worse outcomes.

When I was growing up I was told by my father, "If you are shooting for the moon, aim above it, not at it."  I am sure he got it from somewhere else but the message got through to me.  Shoot high so you'll be happy where you land.

Uh, he doubled down on slaves (actual slaves not the mental slaves of today) choosing to be slaves.

Obviously he's trying to tie the two periods together, but he's failing and digging himself deeper.

If you understand that, he's made his point.  He's made it in such a way that you are being forced into talking about him and what he said.

Personally I think Kanye is able to clarify if he thinks he's being taken out of context.

Which he did..  Here is Kayne's tweet storm from last night.

I'm glad Kanye has amobie to tell everyone what he really meant when he claimed slavery was a choice.

In the era of fakenews, it's a good idea to get the complete story and I don't think the video provided by the OP gives context.  I went to Kanye's twitter and he's retweeting Candace Owens on this topic left and right while talking about this subject for weeks.

Which is more likely in your mind.

    1) Kanye actually believes that slavery was a choice.

    2) He was continuing his mental prison analogy.

  10. 14 hours ago, David Dennison said:

He should do a little research about the slaves who chose to not be slaves anymore. Start with Denmark Vesey and then move on to Nat Turner.

It didn't turn out well for them.

That's where the communication broke down and a lot of that is Kanye's fault.  He's using an analogy to make his point by saying we are in a mental prison and slaves in our own minds.  That context matters.

He is saying that focusing on slavery today is a choice.    There are no individuals alive that lived through the period where blacks were slaves in the USA but we are still talking about it as if it was last week.  It's a choice whether or not we make the harm inflicted upon us become part of our cultural identity.

To Kanye, this is a psychological hurdle the black community needs to overcome.  That's what his whole Candace Owens plug was all about and it's pretty sad that they are twisting what he's saying like this.  Overall, his message is very positive and forward thinking.  Let go of the past and break free of the chains of lower expectations.

I think this sums up what angle he's going for.  He just needs to work on the delivery so it's not taken out of context.

  11. btw..  the actual quote that the OP's video omitted. “When you hear about slavery for 400 years. For 400 years?! That sounds like a choice. Like, you were there for 400 years and it’s all of you all? Like, we’re mentally in prison. Like, slavery goes too direct to the idea of blacks,”

How did the posts surface? Why is there a coordinated troll/bot army operation pushing this shit on Twitter?

It’s Hillary’s emails all over again.

What does it matter how this stuff surfaced. What’s important is the damaging content.

The content of her posts were offensive and not inline with the current party politics, but they weren't at the time they were written.  I can assure you that many of the people within the democratic party still share those views.  Some democrats are still against gay marriage. There are also still racists in the democratic party too.   The idea that everyone in the party has to agree on every single issue when the party platform is constantly evolving is a recipe for disaster.  You can't have ideological purity coexist in a progressive platform a they are mutually exclusive concepts.

Joy Reid has the freedom of thought and we shouldn't be trying to take that away.  She should be allowed to make mistakes and evolve like everyone else.  However, the atmosphere created during the election was such that if anyone disagreed with any platform issue, they were labeled immoral and viciously attacked.  The attacks on Joy Reid are the result of that.

She was left with 2 choices:  Own her mistake or lie.

Why do you think she chose to lie?

I don't believe she lied because she was worried about the attacks from conservatives and Republicans in general because so many of them would probably agree with her statements. She's used to being attacked by them.  Her real fear was the backlash from her own party that she knows wouldn't forgive that mistake.  That her career would be destroyed.  So she threw up a Daniel Figurelli hail mary and hoped that hacking claims would cause just enough doubt that she could escape the scandal's initial wave until the next story turned the public's attention elsewhere.

The real question we need to ask ourselves is if we want to live in this environment where everyone who doesn't 100% fit into the party platform is viewed as the enemy and attacked for it.  People need to be able to share ideas and different perspectives and have the war be over ideas, not personalities.

    Nope, I wouldn’t.

I approach the opinion/political shapers with the expectation that they’ve all done some deplorable shit in their past.

I don’t feel the need to disregard their current message simply because they said some awful things in the past.

It’s the same kinda thing with people that boycott Susan Sarandone/Sean Penn movies because they disagree with their politics.  Get over yourself.

Just curious... what awful opinions did you have in the past that you are ashamed of?  You seem to be really hammering on this point for some reason.

In my own experience, I was duped into thinking the war in Iraq was necessary.  I was young and didn't understand what was going on behind the scenes.

People evolve and grow as they get older.  Being able to admit that you were wrong and move past that isn't something to be ashamed of.  If someone like Joy Reid doesn't come clean though and goes about lying about it, why should we trust her?  How do we know she doesn't still have those feelings?

I don't think those stats would be the definition of fumble prone...... Of course, they're not Tavon Austin's so who the fuck knows what you're looking at, but if you simply were asking a hypothetical, there you are.

They've been looking for a Lance Dunbar replacement (for whatever reason) ever since we lost Lance.  Tavon ran the ball 59 times last year for 270yrds (no fumbles) and he's immediately better than Switzer in the return game.

I'm not confident we could've grabbed more value in the 6th than what we got in return for Jihad.  We drafted 2 DTs in the 7th last year and neither are still with the team.   I'll take a chance on a guy who's at least part of the rotation.

Clearly it was a wasted pick because we didn't get Adrian Peterson in his prime for a 6th rounder.

Exactly. It's not the trade itself that looks bad. It's the fact you gave up a 2017 4th rounder and a 2018 6th rounder for one year of a guy you nailed to the bench, a bust ass tiny receiver who fumbles a lot you say you actually want to use as a RB (lulz), and a bust ass DT who you're hoping a change of scenery causes to not be practically worthless.

    Bad use of assets.

So the new definition of fumble prone is 4 fumbles out of 184 runs, 158 returns and 194 catches..  So less than 1 fumble per 100 touches.

Zeke fumbled 6 times out of 564 runs and 58 receptions..   Is he fumble prone?

    I seriously doubt you've followed much of Tavon's career if you don't think he's worth a 6th.

So more injured players we want on this team?

Injuries are part of the game.

Oakland reached on a pick and he didn't live up to expectation.  Maybe he is a better fit here.

Since we are revamping the passing game and special teams, Switzer wasn't going to make the team.  It's a good thing we got something for him.

I read the Raiders drafted Ward about 3 rounds too early as well according to most draft experts. And hasn't did shit at all. I think we gave up on Switzer too early. Now with Witten/Dez gone, we could have tried to get him more involved along with others. Trade didn't make much sense at all unless they wanted to tell us they are trying to address the DT need.

Injuries and moving him all over the line are the main problems he had to face.  Cowboys have seen him in the shared practices over the past couple years so the staff is familiar with him.

Based on what happened in the draft, it's a safe bet to assume they are going to be watching the June 1 cuts.

I don't know what Dunbar could do that Austin can't do. That's the role they were looking to fill. With that being said, we need to stop fucking around and just throw Zeke the ball more out of the backfield. Just off the top of my head, the play against the Steelers his rookie year that went for 80 yards, and the play against the 49ers last year that went for 50+. Both dump offs that he just took the distance.

Austin being on the field doesn't kick Zeke off.  You can still have Zeke run those routes but it's probably best if we don't 100% rely on Zeke on every down.

Go watch New Orleans and KC last year.  How they used Hill and Kamara is going to be the blueprint of how we are going to use Austin.  It creates huge matchup problems.

If Zeke and Austin are on the field at the same time, what kind of defense do you run?  If they go Nickel, shift to the empty set..  Zeke and/or Austin are being covered by a safety or a linebacker.  Or they can just run it against the nickel.  Having a RB that is a threat to the edge of the defense and can play WR causes a lot of problems.
