  1. The safety from Duke's full name is Michael Carter II. Makes sense that he would be the second Michael Carter taken by the Jets.
  2. Leopold! Leopold! haha Nice reference for the Buffalo/Kansas situation. For a Philly guy, there is also the Philly connection-- Leopold Stowkowski was famous for spurning the baton and conducting simply with his hand gestures...and he did that during his long association with the Philly Orchestra as its music director (made most famous for recording the score of Disney's Fantasia, and also appearing in some Hollywood movies on screen, famously in Deanna Durbin-starrer 1937 hit One Hundred Men and a Girl. He must have been a major cultural icon of that time for him to be featured like that in Looney Tunes.
  3. I'd love to move to the PA 'burbs (Paoli, Media, Swarthmore, etc) but the gf insists on staying put in town, except not in South Philly but West Philly (more green, more space, still city, still super-easy commute, and better neighborhood)
  4. wonder whether Chuckie is related to Howard... :D https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Howard_Finster Finster came to widespread notice in the 1980s with his album cover designs for R.E.M. and Talking Heads.
  5. dang, i felt the burn. even though i'm right now in Houston visiting fam, I'd have felt it even all the way in Philly.
  6. several folks in this thread not getting adequate REM sleep, causing them to post about everything else other than football recruiting in a football recruiting thread? just a guess.
  7. Elko supposedly turned down offers closer to his mid-Atlantic roots, so it would be a dumb move to then pick up and move to Kansas of all places... zero momentum, zero local recruiting, perennial bottom dweller program. I suppose it can also be a good move to go where nobody has any expectations, and then turn heads... and then quickly move on to better opportunity elsewhere. If he left now, he surely would hand a full cupboard to the next DC at A&M, rather than making use of that potential himself.
  8. Oh, and while I'm visiting briefly, Leon O'Neal is probably going to be a better preacher or speaker on a talking circuit that an NFL player. He is probably setting things up for that career move. lol. He should nonetheless not get into tweet battles with anybody, obviously. I guess he just can't help himself, or he loves getting a rise out of people. hah
  9. I'm still holding out hope for Demas to turn it on in between his ears this upcoming season. Of course, that will only matter so much if he has a QB worth a damn to throw him the ball... and that is TBD, it seems, but not looking great, tbh.
  10. A. Smith isn't a RB in true sense; that workhorse position is really belonging to I. Spiller. Smith is a gadget guy and I wouldn't hold that against him nor against Jimbo for moving him around all over the field to get him the ball. I think Sark probably does something similar with any super-fact guys on your team who have good hands and good feel for the game. I give you the pass catching TE as "problematic" if you're a WR, since that does vulture off the passing game. But as you can see, still decent passing yardage per game. It's a balanced attack.
  11. could be; i just copied from Yahoo Sports data, and double checked just now to see whether I made the mistake in copying; nope. https://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/stats/individual/?selectedTable=2&leagueStructure=ncaaf.struct.div.1.conf.71
  12. I thought I read somewhere today that Sark is going to be feeding the ball to Bijan quite a bit. Maybe that's a wishful thinking on the part of someone.
  13. "Top WR signees" means what, exactly? It's not like WRs don't get to show off their talent at all. The recruiting stars fall by the wayside and players must show their stuff in practice and such. It's a different system, but seems it allows adequate opportunity to shine for those willing to put in the work. Chase Lane was a 3-star out of high school. Prima Donnas probably don't do well, blue collar receivers that block, and do everything else, probably get to play more. Top 3 receivers and receiving yards from last season at A&M vs at UT: Ainias Smith: 564 yards, 6 TDs Jalen Wydermyer: 506 yards, 6 TDs Chase Lane: 409 yards, 2 TDs. Joshua Moore: 472 yards, 9 TDs Brennan Eagles: 469 yards, 5 TDs Jake Smith: 294 yards, 3 TDs. Even total receiving yards for each team isn't that far off, nor receiving yards/game.
  14. props to @closetojumping for kavorka reference. That's gold, Jerry. Gold!
  15. what is it they say about a man with two first names? ;) but jimbo trusts in him, and we trust in jimbo... ;) lol
  16. First up: Which in-state school is the most overrated and why? some kid: oklahoma state, just because. I suppose the kid must live in Okla-fucking-homa, although I figured this was a Texan sports magazine polling in-state (meaning, Texans) 'cruits. Or is this an a-ok signtal for TX to annex OK?!
  17. Maybe College Station is a version of Lake Wobegon, where all the women are strong, all the men are good-looking, and all the children are above average.
  18. Broad hump, more like it. amirite?! ;) :D
  19. When Herb Hand was hired away from Auburn, I remember folks here generally very gruntled. He was coming over as a savior and was going to turn boys into men. After all, his Auburn OL had just won a bunch of awards and was graded out as one of the best in all of college football. He was highly regarded. So what happened? I guess he was highly "regarded" and not regarded...? just sucked at recruiting? or became lazy upon landing the coveted job in Austin?
  20. that amount of crab legs qualifies as "getting a fix", I think. But I'm not Jameis so I wouldn't know.
  21. His 247 scouting report compares him to fameis Jameis. So, checks off all boxes for Jimbo right there.
  22. TBH, his highlights made me think of Johnny Football, especially his penchant for escaping the rush in the pocket and weirdly finding an open receiver after making crazy passes. I wonder how much of that will Jimbo allow. I'm afraid Jimbo will drill more thinking and standing in the pocket into this guy and therefore make him less fun to watch, gain slightly on his passing efficiency, but at the loss of his running/scrambling abilities. He seems like a better match for someone like Sumlin lol. But I hope I'm wrong. It would also be great to take both the QBs in this class...different styles, although Klubnik also scrambles. Probably less than 1% chance of landing both, though, I'm guessing. That's not how Dickey and Jimbo operate.
