  3. Dang, that's way too soon. Going to miss his coverage, as I often have his voice and phrases in my head when I'm pushing it: he's on the rivet, throwing the cat amongst the pigeons, suitcase full of courage, etc. Yes, over the years they got a little repetitive, but for me he's been the voice of the Tour all these years. By all accounts, a really nice guy as well. RIP.
  4. Oh come on, that would assume that he's a thin-skinned vindictive...oh. Never mind.
  5. His job is "writing" those Zagat "review" digests. It can be "hard" to "make adjustments" when typing in his "free time".
  6. Triggered. edit: apologies as it was so infuriating I didn't make it through the other posts to see that I wasn't alone.
  7. How are the casitas in Chapell Hill?
  8. Even with no one in his face Patterson throws short off his back foot. Edit : it was Milton, but same problem.
  9. That’ll induce both a migraine and an esophageal spasm.
  10. Cal-Stanford cancelled. The last time that happened it was after the assassination of JFK. https://www.sfgate.com/collegesports/article/Big-Game-postponed-for-first-time-in-55-years-13399490.php
  11. Smoke. From the fires. Northern California now has the worst air quality in the world, thanks to wildfire smoke
  12. No, I think the lawsuits from last year's fire in Napa/Sonoma/Santa Rosa, which likely stemmed from poor maintenance and arc-ing power lines are the reason the stock dropped. That's a much bigger draw on revenue.
  13. You have to understand the weather out here, at least for most of these areas. The last rain we get is in April, maybe May. It's then more or less bone dry until October. Usually we see the first rains by now, but we haven't. So: dry, unseasonably warm and the weather pattern has a strong wind which is forming East to West. It doesn't take much to create a catastrophe. It's not supposed to be warm dry and windy in November. That said, the dropping stock price of PGE may tell you where the pundits at least thing the spark initiated from.
  14. Roommate freshman year was a small time drug dealer who escalated over time. At first, small amounts of weed, X, LSD, shrooms. Then tar heroin. It was the day I came in from class to find him with two sketchy dudes in our room and a brick of weed wrapped in plastic wrap - a good 2x1x1 foot block. Told him I wasn't interested in finishing my freshman year with a felony. He was cool about it, and it was stored elsewhere. He's now a successful tax attorney in Southern California.
  15. Couldn't happen to a more deserving coach and fan base.
  16. I read it was The People's Front of Judea.
  17. Florida. Of course.
  18. The buffet is really great at the casitas.
  19. I just dated myself. But you’re welcome. Popped into my head - haven’t heard it in forever.
  20. That’s a key point. 2008 was disastrous if your really needed the money right then, right now.
  21. It's all about risk tolerance. Look at 2008 - even the Four in One lost 33% (S&P was -37%). Even more conservative approaches like Fidelity Asset Manager 30% went -20% in 2008. Not knocking either choice, but if one is worried about the bottom falling out, it gets tricky. The tradeoff is those managed income funds - say BLADX. Was 7% in the black for 2008, but you have to get used to some single digit returns since. How's 1.2% for 2018?
  22. I've had no problems with Sixt - rented in Kings Cross for a driving tour of southern England and a few times in France. The checkout girl in Toulouse was a lot cuter, that's the only comparison between the two. Price was great as were the cars.
