  1. So he could play with Jakob's ladder and Keldon Johnson? I'm sure he'd be thrilled by that reality. Our best chance was when he was leaving OKC. He doesn't seem to like small markets..... although Phoenix isn't huge.
  2. Pretty sure when he signed his extension, there was a gentlemen's agreement that if it ever didn't work out or he wanted to move on, the Nets front office would take care of him. I think you can blame him for wanting Kyrie as his Robin, but so did the Nets. I also think Kyrie opted in only because he couldn't see getting what he wanted on the open market this summer but he still wants to go somewhere else. Time to blow it up. They were a big toe away from probably the Finals and probably a title. Sucks for them, but they took their shot..... just don't arm yourself with crazy Kyrie. Your way is how you piss off agents and other players. It would feel good, but it's not going to make your organization better.
  3. 1. Somewhat. We only want to take on contracts which will help the end goal. We can be facilitators too, getting into deals and taking bad contracts, who we buy out, for draft capital. Have to make use of the all the cap room. 2. I don't really care. Good for them. They're going to move a couple more pieces so I wouldn't worry what they look like now. But how they do isn't really of concern. 3. A top 3 pick should garner a very good player. Look at the Rockets, they were at 3 and may have gotten the best player in the draft. But yes, #1 in a strong year would be just the thing that keeps the Spurs in SA, NBA..... are you seeing? 4. You trade them.... maybe together, maybe not. Maybe before the season, maybe not. Poeltl could easily garner a late first by himself. And yea, a couple of vets who are transitioning into coaching would be fine. All these young guys can't play all the minutes. Richardson is probably the starting SG if he sticks around. Now..... let's go!
  4. Not exactly. He could extend next summer but said he wasn't going to because he'd be due for a bigger extension coming out of his contract year. The Spurs asked about extending now or next summer and were told he wasn't going to, therefore there's more risk for the franchise and the player. If the player blows out his knee in calamity then his contract won't max out but if the franchise doesn't do a good job of convincing the player they're on the right path, then they could lose them...... I haven't read or heard anything where Rich Paul was killing a partnership between Murray and the Spurs, just playing the hand he had. Frankly, if I'm in his spot with Murray, I don't advise him to sign an extension next year either unless major injury, suspension looming, or a huge drop off in play.
  5. He's French, thank you very much. The Spurs are the pure cautionary example of not knowing oneself and not having a plan. You're either building or your sinking. I think the shock of Kawhi hit them so hard they couldn't figure anything out and it took them 3 years to get their shit together, which is a rebuild. It's a shame because they burned 3 years of capital with the fans, but they just couldn't admit the run was over...... They need a superstar draft pick and it's easier from the top 5. Not guaranteed but easier. Maybe they'll finally tank correctly.
  6. Exactly.... or over Londale. Resurrect his career in the state he went to college in. C'mon Mo, that's the narrative you want in two years as a free agent.
  7. So..... Mo Bamba anyone in UFA???? I'd like to sign him to something mid tier and see if he can put it together as a bench big.
  8. Shots maybe. Yes, there is a lot of uncertainty.... But what is certain is this team was going nowhere as currently constructed. Upside is a play in game win and then a gentlemen's first round sweep to the 1 seed. Yea. Maybe next year we win win 2 in the first round. There wasn't a real great likelihood of real success the next two year or on any team whereby Murray is your best player. And then are you going to max him out next summer or the summer after? You want to pay Murray about 30% of your cap space? Again, the only real hope for a major jump would have been for one of these non-top 5 picks to become a Kawhi, which we've shown is clearly the outlier. So from and odds perspective, we took the sell high and try our chances by playing young, playing hard, and ultimately learning to win by having to lose. Nothing is certain in sports, but we took a step last year by clearing out the olds. We took another by selling a guy at the height of his trade value for future assets because his contract wasn't going to be productive for our timeline. It's short-term pain (I hate losing Murray) for potential long-term gains, but yes, every draft pick we make could suck or die. Every free agent could laugh at us and Pop could die with the most losses in NBA history. These are all possibilities..... but the known was pretty shitty too.
  9. Reportedly looking to trade Collins, Capela and maybe Bogdan. Not sure what the Hawks will ultimately look like.
  10. It was an incredible waste. At every level. This was Pop’s decision and he failed us the last 3 years. Waste of time and resources. Now…. The tank is on and the real work begins.
  11. I believe it has protections for the lottery. Could be wrong.
  12. May not be quite at 25m, but more like 22 or 23m AAV. It's still going to be more than he's probably worth. He's a nice little player. He really is, but he's not a guy who can carry you persay. Reportedly, his father is pretty tight with the Knicks front office.
  13. Going to guess with a couple first rounders. Maybe a pick swap. Hawks probably rather have Okongwu on his cheap rookie contract than Collins on his pricey one. Regardless, it appears that PATFO finally understands this is a rebuild and sucking may be required for another year or two.
  14. Their last couple of picks have been 16 and 20. Doubt they get any worse the next couple of years. Not sure how valuable those picks will be. Maybe Charlottes but it has protections. They'd need some injury help by Atlanta. I don't mind trading Murray but for a mid to back end first rounders..... idk. That's a big risk.
  15. On the basketball court, Kyrie is a far superior player.... I don't think the Nets would be satisfied in overpaying for Brunson when other deals are probably available..... even with Kyrie being a selfish prick.
  16. Cousins is at least an interesting debate although you probably come out behind in the majority opinion. Carr? Hmmm. That's a no, dawg. Not much statistical case can be made. And he just signed an extension for 40.5m AAV so that wouldn't support your thought process Dak is overpaid, but now.... seems like about market or a little less. Interesting, Cousins has made 140m the last 5 years. AAV. Dak has made around 52m AAV. Dak doesn't get insanely expensive until next year.
  17. Doesn't have to involve Murray. Doubt the Hawks want to give up the 3 firsts....
