  1. Just another example of our current disinformation climate. We've received quite a few lump sums from backpay for social security from the Social Security Fairness Act that was a bipartisan bill passed in December 2024 and signed by Biden on January 5th. We received a message from the operations department to let our customers questioning their deposits know that they're deposits that resulted from the "Trump Administration making changes" and nobody questioned shit about it.
  2. Do I pay the markup to buy Rioja at 200% or do I drink some shitty California Tempranillo? I guess the future tariffs on wine from California will make the decision easier.
  3. Common Brown Snake (Pseudonaja textilis) Good to start the year off with an easy id of a snake, a bit out of their traditional range though.
  4. We'll have a lot smug "told you so" moments at the work camp in Alaska.
  5. Reading being 8th in League One is a joke anyway. That should be a Championship squad and they seem to be playing pretty well as of late.
  6. How many Americans are willing to shoot Anglophone commonwealth troops vs how many Canadians are willing to protect their homeland? I'd wager there are more in the Canadian column and they'd certainly have higher morale.
  7. Half? Who would be cheering on the US? Maybe half of Americans and some Quebecois assholes. That's about it.
  8. I feel like they'd "Philippines" Canada. We're bringing back the insulars!
  9. What kind? I'm on year 3 with a Santa Rosa and it's looking the same as yours right now.
  10. I have a hard time controlling the dewberry and blackberry. They're damn near indestructible. I didn't get a lot of fruit last year from them though but the birds sure as shit did.
  11. Smells like Jalapeno time outside. Blackberries, dewberries, peaches, and plums are starting to wake up too. Also my mint from last year is back and by back, I mean it is everywhere. In the flower pots, in the garden, in the lawn. Everywhere.
  12. VTI is similar at around -8.83%, but still +7% on the full year (-6.37 YTD).
  13. I've heard this from some podcasts and I think it would be great to get universities involved with the tree even if that isn't the best path to creating pro soccer players.
  14. The 2nd one was probably my favorite. I absolutely love it when SK sets his novel in a bookstore or writer setting.
  15. I just read Bag of Bones with knowing nothing about it going into it. It was a pleasant Needful Thingsish/Revivalish type read if that makes sense. I only have like 15 more SK novels to go which is tragic. On the "how many does he have left?" argument. Supposedly he has some novels ready to go for when he passes.
  16. Hey I saw this one in the wild this weekend. You'll be shocked to know it as a 55–65-year-old balding white dude wearing sunglass on an overcast day.
  17. Have we talked about the Walburg Travel Center outside of Georgetown? That place is low key a Mexican chip mecca with about 100 options. I have no idea how or why but it's a goldmine. Got some basics yesterday on the way home from the Austin FC game.
  18. Weird enough I feel much better after the match than after Portland. I wanna see what the team looks like after a couple more matches because I think the talent is really there to make the playoffs (not saying much in MLS). Also I'm really ready for a warm game.
  19. Oh hey free scarves for the first 10k tomorrow. Did anyone get a chance to try La Barbecue for the first game? I meant to but I was too cold to move.
  20. Port the Cow, TX Palace, TX Screw, TX The Bully, TX The Field, TX Hidalgo is now named after Viggo Mortensen
  21. Edit: NVM already posted
  22. Matagorda has many fun options for translation
  23. Surely its Svatok with Leo as the back-up to both right?
