  1. I'll need to check it out, but he has one in LA if he's trying to get stuff that he doesn't have at home. Edit: NVM the LA one closed.
  2. Back to the racist shit, did anyone else have a parent that cheered for sports teams based on the "BYU rule"? The more white kids on the team the more they liked them. It was meant in a half joke half serious way. Boomers from the South are much better than their parents or grandparents, but they're still a transitional generation on race relations.
  3. Oct. 15, 2024, 1:14 p.m. ET8 minutes ago Michael Gold Asked directly to respond to a recent report that he had spoken with President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia as many as seven times since leaving office in 2021, Trump said he would not “comment on that,” but that it would be a “smart thing” if he did it. “I’m trying to deal with people,” he said. “If I have a relationship with people, that’s a good thing.” Oct. 15, 2024, 1:12 p.m. ET11 minutes ago Ana Swanson Trump is clashing with John Micklethwait, the editor in chief of Bloomberg, over the economic impact of tariffs. Trump insists that they will encourage companies to move factories back to the United States without raising costs for consumers — which is an argument many economists disagree with. But Trump counters that if you make tariffs “so high, so horrible, so obnoxious,” factories will come right away.

  5. Oct. 15, 2024, 11:54 a.m. ET1 hour ago Theodore Schleifer One of the main pro-Trump field operations has not raised as much money as it set out to, per new campaign-finance filings. The super PAC Turnout for America aimed to raise $45 million for a ground game, but it raised only $18.5 million through the end of September. The group was set up by allies of Senator JD Vance of Ohio.

  18. Twitter was cool when I followed a bunch of historians and museums to keep up with historiographical trends. That kind of curated experience is really what it was best at doing for people. When that kind of thing ended due to algorithm changes and people leaving the platform it made it pointless.
  19. I thought I was on the hurricane thread and got really excited thinking that he was going to play a round in the Tampa area on Wednesday.
