  1. It's a big deal in the museum world and is only going to get bigger. There's also issues here in the States where someone from X tribe will sell a museum a piece only to realize that they didn't have authorization to do so and now 2 or 3 generations the tribe wants it back. I met this dude in grad school during a museums course and it's a good read for anyone interested.
  2. I would 100% be in but apparently it'll be here. Boo Also we signed another >30 striker today so all is normal. Austin FC Signs Striker Diego Rubio | Austin FC
  3. Is there a solution to this issue at UT? The state is going to continue to grow, and UT-Austin can't/shouldn't be a 100K+ student institution to match how it was in the 80s or 90s or whatever. The only thing the state can do is to increase the prestige of some of the other schools so that we have a system that isn't UT or bust. Yes, schools like UT-D are doing great compared to their historical average, but these things take time and attracting top faculty is a tough process that requires money, time, and skill.
  4. I did (ages 32-35), but I went to a small directional state school and not anything anywhere near UT's pedigree. I also finished Baylor undergrad with a 2.3 so I didn't even bother with any school that anyone would consider decent. Grad school was great as an adult that actually cared about the material and wasn't trying to get blackout drunk every night. I took it slow at first with a class a semester then took 6 hours after that and usually read/wrote while my wife was watching tv, so I had plenty of time to do it right.
  5. I keep on waiting for UH to take the leap. They have the benefit of the big ass city, flagship of the system, and are ranked higher in USNews than Arkansas, Alabama, Ole Miss, Texas Tech, LSU, and Oklahoma State. They just have to get more kids to live on campus and get rid of that commuter vibe (which they are I think), but it'll take time.
  6. Hey guys I know we have a spot for selling things but this is urgent. Unfortunately something came up and I'm not going to be able to attend FatCamp 2024 this summer in Kansas after all. I'm hoping to unload my King Bed in a shared room just for the *checks notes* $2,200 that I paid for the weekend of June 27-30. https://www.fatcampretreat.com/ https://www.instagram.com/fatcampretreat/ We had a great time last year Yes, I know that our leader did recently stir up some controversy with "Bootygate 2024" when she commented that being able to wipe yourself is thin privilege, but she's 100% right when you think about it. https://youtu.be/Fsf1luMQjXI?si=qWxijgr_wuvLWLN4
  7. I'm excited to see a Valley team grow. It looks like it'll be a rough few years to start though.
  8. I'm thinking about a trip the first week of June, prices are looking <$200/night which is good enough for me. I'll be sure and watch next year for that deal.
  9. I tried to book a trip for April last month (not santa semana) and it was already sold out. The word must be getting out about Privilege Aluxes.
  10. My wife got a new student from Guatemala yesterday that speaks zero English. Her class is all bilingual with the exception of the new kid and the kids immediately responded by speaking Spanish amongst themselves all day to make him feel comfortable without my wife having to do anything at all. If only adults could be that generous and supportive. Oh, and by the end of 1:00PM recess he had already come to love American Football, Murica!
  11. How long until Aggie gets him enrolled at Blinn?
  12. Not ideal, but imagine us complaining 10 years ago that one of our guys was going to the Premier League. The future is so damn bright.
  13. Good news is that there's another NFL season starting September. Though we are talking about a celebrity relationship here and from what my tells me they don't always seem the most stable.
  14. Fuck, I'm 34! We're fucking screwed if we think we can roll out Taylor Swift while they get the youth vote with Ted Nuggent.
  15. Is there a consensus on proper sunfish panfrying techniques? 1.) filleting and removing skin? seems like too much work for such little meat and losing some flavor? 2.) filleting and keeping skin? Is this the sweet spot for flavor and easy of eating? 3.) descale and remove guts? Best tasting but bones are small and annoying to eat around?

  17. I have my MA in history and would like to teach a class or two at a community college if profs haven't been replaced by AI by then.
  18. Time to see what's happening at the National Aquarium
  19. Lamar's deep ball looks the backup trying to impress at a spring game.
