  1. Their church has the gall to allow a couple as co-preachers. They'll probably end up in hell with a woman preaching to them every Sunday. I did notice that when I was being raised, we were strictly a Sunday School and Sunday morning service family and that was it as far as our church lives. Now they're much more about small group meetings and skip out on Sundays. Maybe they're swingers for Jesus now or something? I try not to think about it.
  2. Anecdotal, but my parents fall into the former SBC now non-denom camp and they didn't really move for any particular theological or political reason but rather they're in their 60s and all the people at the FBC are in their 80s and their friends go to/run non-denom pop ups now so they do too. There is no real difference outside of the structure of the SBC church missing, ironically.
  3. Where my doubt really got started in REL 1310 my first semester when we got to the whole, "Well this gospel was probably first written down x hundred years after tradition states and wasn't written by this person but rather this person based upon this evidence" and all sorts of other things that were never taught in sunday school at the local FBC growing up. I wasn't really a religious person and only went to church because my parents made us go, so I was the perfect one for doubt in the text to grow with historical evidence.
  4. It has been falling for 20 years.
  5. Yeah but Uruguay shouldn't count. They're 1/72 the pop of Brazil and they can play with them pretty regularly. Similar to how Iceland with 1/220 the population of the UK is able to beat England and other cool stuff like that.
  6. Still pissed off about the 09 Confederations Cup
  7. A coach on the field, blue collar, brings his lunch pail kind of guy.
  8. If it was they would've been out of business decades ago. Is Masterpancake still going strong? I haven't been since the Ritz closed.
  9. FuboTV having 5 exclusives is bs. I want to watch some Georgia football Pawl!

  11. I've been to the Barcelo in Oaxaca and it has absolutely abysmal food (really nice staff though) so I hope for your sake that the Maya Palace location is better.
  12. UTEP always.
  13. I've peddled these from a grad school course I took on the history of religion in America, but both are fantastic and topical. American Jesus: How the Son of God Became a National Icon - Stephen Prothero Naming the Antichrist: The History of an American Obsession | Oxford Academic (oup.com)
  14. LOL we aren't going to be bowl eligible. Although give me the Alamo Bowl almost every year. They do that game up right and we're not UT where we look down upon it.
  15. POV of Tiana's Bayou Adventure that's replacing Splash Mountain was released by Disney. It seems pretty neat minus the signs looking cheap and might be missing some filler theming. The story is non-existent, but Splash Mountain's story was probably non-existent for first time riders too.
  16. Lol those Danes pretending to be Germans.
  17. "Give me even more money" - mouse
  18. NYT May 29, 2024, 3:27 p.m. ET2 minutes ago 2 minutes ago Jonah Bromwich Reporting from inside the courthouse Typically, when jurors request to hear testimony, they return to the courtroom and the relevant portions of the transcript are read aloud by the court reporters. Sometimes court reporters have a little fun with this, doing impressions and imitating accents. I’d be surprised to see that here. The court reporter is already on the witness stand, waiting for the jury.
  19. Good to see the TCU football attendance counter getting work in the offseason.
  20. Pretty good almost as good as Midnight in Chernobyl.
  21. I decided to fill in all my missing King by reading in publication order and quickly added Carrie and Rage which were both good. I'm trying to decide now if I want to read all the short stories or just stick to the novels then circle back to the short stories later. I'm guessing that would hurt my Dark Tower books 3 through whatever I haven't read yet.
  22. Los Ángeles Azules Irving Aug 31st at 8PM. It'll be the first time I've missed the opening day of BU football since I was born in the 80s. It'll be alright.
