  1. Smoked marinated wings with garlic soy glaze Served with that kale salad mix from Costco.
  2. Let's not forget the narrative that the mom of the deceased Nicholas supposedly had called in a wellness check (about her daughter's supposed rampant drug use) that prompted this whole investigation. Meanwhile, the mom denies ever making such a call.
  3. Cedar planked salmon with roasted veggie mash and southern style green beans with hatch bacon Bagels and lox as requested by the wife this morning
  4. Initial speculation was 7815 Hardy St., which is definitely fits the stereotype for a drug house, but I don't think anything came of that hypothesis. There is no Hardin St. in Houston.
  5. "It's not stealing; it's civil forfeiture." - fucking thieving cops, probably.
  6. I talked to someone more intimately informed on this case. I asked why it took so long to bring the charges, and was told that there were behind the scenes negotiations with two other officers from the raid to secure their immunity in exchange for testimony. Supposedly, they knew the warrant was BS but still went along with it anyway. I was told to hold steady, there will be more bombshells dropping about this in the news as soon as the end of this week.
  7. I didn't, but I'd still put down at hundo on the colts to win the division at the new odds (*+500, iirc). Superbowl is a bridge too far without Luck though *per Bovada
  8. Yeah, I'll take the stairs. -lady waiting in lobby
  9. Is it too late to take Gerald Goines in the death pool?
  10. $250k bond seems pretty light given the nature of the charges. Goines should have to sit in jail and wait for his day in court like all of the other poor people he wrongfully arrested for manufactured crimes.
  11. HPD 4:30 press conference is scheduled.
  12. Damn, y'all are making me happy I have EZ Tag instead of TX Tag. HCTRA's website is actually decent and makes it easy to print my toll receipts for my expense reports.
  13. Holy shit, is this for real? Did she piggy-back in behind another resident on the wrong floor?
  14. Little man had a big day while the wife and I were at work yesterday... The scene: The guilty party (caught red handed with the sticker still stuck to his paw): Snoop needs to wise up and learn how to hide the evidence of he ever wants to get away with it. *He filled up on 1.5 blueberry muffins. Didn’t have room to eat any chips.
  15. Starter = yeast culture maintained by regular feedings of water and flour Discard = a portion of the starter that is removed several hours after the yeast have been fed. By that time most of the edible starches/sugars have been consumed by the yeast culture leaving a sour smelling/tasting flour mixture. This can be used as as a mild leavening action and flavoring agent if added to some other flour-based dough (like waffles, english muffins, etc). Naan = Indian flatbread Barley Malt Syrup = a sweet malty syrup made from roasted barley, typically used in brewing applications
  16. This is Snoop Dog, our 18lb poodle-mix rescue. Our friend found him as a matted mess on the streets of Fifth Ward w/ heart worms in January. She worked with a rescue as the foster until he was through his treatments and healthy enough for adoption. Such a chill dog. I have no idea how we go so lucky.
  17. I was baking sourdough on an off for about a year before I let my starter die. I re-started with some of my friend's a couple weeks ago. These were my first actual bread loaves from that starter. I've also made the naan and sourdough waffles from discard. Next week I'm thinking I want to try my hand at sourdough bagels (if I can get some barley malt syrup from the brewer's supply store this week).
  18. We have more guac, bacon, and bread. I'll make some more tonight and photograph it this time. I'd probably post it in the Steelshank thread, but I feel like posting something avocado-based there would get me permabanned.
  19. We're at the 4th day of 100+F heat in a row, with 2 more on the way in The Woodlands. Hatch chilis are my only solace.
  20. I didn't take a picture, but for lunch I toasted some slices of sourdough. We had some hatch guacamole and hatch smoked bacon from HEB that I cooked in the air fryer with a healthy dusting of Montana Mex sweet seasoning and put on top of the toast. They had similar samples yesterday calling it hatch BLT. Not really a BLT, but a solid lunch food for sure
  21. The Woodlands. I think I went through the car wash twice since that happened, which may have expedited the oxidation. I'll take it by the body shop next week to have them touch up the paint. NM, just found a Subaru touch up pen thingy for $20 online in my color. Comes with a slightly abrasive side to clean it up before touching it up. Should do the trick. Fingers crossed.
  22. Adventures in sourdough. Sourdough garlic naan with Mediterranean chicken and salad Sourdough boules
  23. I was driving to work a couple weeks ago and when passing by a roadside mower, I heard a very loud bang on the side of my car. When I got to work, I inspected my car for damage but couldn't identify any. Last night after going through the car wash, I found the impact area. It was near the edge of a window, so it was difficult to notice except for the fact that the metal under the exposed chip has started superficial rusting. Am I fucked or would my insurance be able to make a claim against the state (presuming it was their mowing crew)? From a quick online search, it sounds like it wouldn't be covered under uninsured motorist coverage as the damage wasn't caused by another vehicle. In that case, it would likely be a comprehensive claim... Any insight into this?
