  1. I really wish they had some good upper atmosphere shots of the Gulf pre and post containment to show the true extent of Taylor's oil spill. Fuck that company. I hope they go under in a big way.
  2. I hope you learned your lesson. Don't call the cops. They're fucking worthless. Especially don't call the cops if you're in a he said/he said situation with a bunch of bouncers. Bouncers are basically cops-in-training in the eyes of a pig.
  3. So in 50-odd years or so, we could have a new wood to use for BBQ?

  5. Email from Kim Ogg's office. Looks like we might get some oversight after all. https://twitter.com/stjbs/status/1143244333631586304
  6. Gambling newb - best place to place an NFL futures bet online? I'd like to put some scratch on the Colts to win the AFCS and again as superbowl champs.
  7. Reading this thread, y'all are making me feel nostalgic for my simple childhood in rural Vermont. If you had any ambition, you could be on a team. Coaches would work with you to get your talent where it needed to be, but worse comes to worst, you just end up riding the pine pony. I don't remember ever having any umpires or referees as young as 13 either. Most were adults, many the same age as the parents. I know I refereed a couple middle school basketball games when I was in high school, but that was only as a last resort when someone was ill. Maybe our parents were just more realistic about our athletic ambitions, but afaik there were never any fights between parents or officials, even when we were playing our cross-county rivals. I think the worst that ever happened was a parent getting a technical foul from the stands in basketball, and even that only happened once or twice.
  8. Dear god, can't they kill them THEN burn them? Doesn't the military have some surplus rounds they could fire off to at least try to put them out of their misery? And if you're going to burn them, maybe make sure there is enough fuel in the hole to ensure that the job is done. Half the fuckers were still alive and kicking when the backhoe started filling in the pit. Fucking Chinese, man.
  9. I was thinking of Deadwood in response to atomheartbevo's mention of the American West as a paradise for serial killers. Mr. Wu's pigs consumed a lot of evidence of murders. Seems like a very plausible and useful tool for any would-be serial killer not wanting to be caught. While not known for feeding victims to pig, Robert Pickton is probably the most famous pig farmer turned serial killer. He ground his victims and gave the meat to his neighbors...
  10. Don't forget to use some thousand island dressing as the slather...
  11. Speaking of which, what ever came of El Vy? They had that one song and nothing else from what I've heard...
  12. Since I'm guessing a full recovery is unlikely given the severity of the injuries, I hope he develops mutant powers and becomes a real life Professor X.
  13. I just wish more people knew about it. I got to spend a few hours there with my dad and uncle who were both in the navy in the late 70's when we in town for my sister's wedding in Sisterdale. Lots of WWII vets to be found there visiting, which is a rare site these days. I need to go back and spend a whole day there. You could probably spend 2-3 days there and still not see all it has to offer.
  14. It's a hell of a museum. It's actually the National Museum of the Pacific War, not the Naval Museum. That is in DC. It's in Fredericksburg because that is the hometown of Admiral Nimitz, who commanded the US forces in the Pacific.
  15. I'd take a P Terry's burger and chocolate shake over damn near any other quick service establishment in Texas. That's one of the things I miss most from Austin, and I'm sure to stop there at least once every month or so when I stop by. The only knock on them is the drive-thru only locations. How the fuck am I supposed to eat a greasy burger in my car?
  16. It's critical to have the right ratio of icing to cake. A little bit goes a long ways. Too often nowadays cakes/cupcakes are slathered with an inch of frosting. No one over the age of 10 wants that shit, unless it's coconut pecan frosting on a German Chocolate cake.
  17. Case in point - Chase Welch... https://www.chron.com/neighborhood/eastex/news/article/Deputy-involved-in-Point-Blank-shooting-fatally-11824955.php
  18. My buddy did that in our Air BnB at my bachelor party in NOLA. He was former Coast Guard though, not a jarhead.
  19. The shitty thing about the 7 day cruise was once we returned, I still had sea legs for like a week or two later. I'd be sitting at my desk and it felt like the world was slowly listing around me. Real mind fuck.
  20. Does your wife want to go on a cruise?
  21. My .02 - book the steakhouse for dinner 2-3 times that week. It's the best meal on the boat. We did the chef's table dinner one time, and it was good, but for the price, I'd much rather spend the upcharge on 2-3 steakhouse dinners than one 10 course chef's tasting. This is best when you have the drink package so you can knock back 2-3 glasses of wine at dinner before finishing with a cocktail to go with dessert, otherwise that shit would be pretty pricey. Chef's tasting - ~10 courses, small party w. the head chef of the ship. Usually served either in the galley or some other private area, like a library.
