  1. For those looking for a stroll down memory lane, I'm pretty sure the FDA made Planter's stop making these because they were literally crack.
  2. If a DC10 is good enough for Xenu, it's good enough for me.
  3. You'd be surprised how many tests are done as terms of probation. I think it's probably more like 50% pre-employment, 40% court mandated, 10% medical use.
  4. Yeah. Don't get me wrong, I hate LabCorp and Quest because they tend to treat every "patient" as if they were some shithead there for court-mandated drug testing. But I was more uncomfortable watching the repeated phlebotomy scenes than I am actually getting a blood draw. Also, lancet finger pricks hurt about as much as an actual venous draw. I would know; I have both done to me when I donate platelets every 5ish weeks. If they want to actually lower the cost of blood tests to increase accessibility, then maybe they should work on dismantling our bullshit health insurance industry that does nothing more than bloat costs and obfuscate pricing. Wouldn't hurt for congress to address the essential monopoly that two companies have over an entire industry as well. I'd think so anti-trust laws might be in breach.
  5. He shows one of several billboard leased by the HPOU asking to "Support the HPD 5" aka, the 5 officers injured in the botched Pecan Park raid. Refers to some eyewitness testimony from the day of the shooting. Supposedly Mr. Tuttle lay screaming for help for 10 minutes after the shooting, asking for help and screaming for his wife. Supposedly at least one uniformed officer asked about going in to render aid, but was told by another to "let the m***** f***** die." Cops waited 2 hours while a robot was sent in to clear the house, a house that had been under surveillance for 24 hours prior to the raid. They knew there were no other people there and used the robot as justification for their delay which allowed the homeowners to die without medical attention. Re-iterated the claim that after the delay, a SWAT officer fired 1-3 shots into Mr. Tuttle from the kitchen window to ensure he was dead. Autopsy reports haven't been produced yet. Their results should tell us a lot about what happened. Supposedly at least one officer outside the home had a Go-Pro camera on. If recording (which it should have been after shots were fired), it should have captured the cries for help from Mr. Tuttle. Cops have denied such video footage exists. Briefly alluded to his own legal troubles as though they are a result of him pressing the issue, but didn't address anything specifically.
  6. Finished a diet bet on Friday. It was 9 weeks long. I dropped from 269.6lbs to 241.6lbs, which was good enough for 2nd place among the men (and 1st overall in total weight lost). That was entirely from logging calories and restricting my diet. I feel so much better already, but I'm due to start going back to the gym to increase my daily calorie burn. Being strapped to a desk 8+ hours a day feels like death sentence.
  7. I bought 2 corned beefs yesterday. I'll cook one on Wednesday for some late corned beef and cabbage (w/ plenty of leftover for hash). The other will get a dry rub and rest in the fridge for 1-2 days next week before I smoke it into a pastrami. Homemade pastrami kicks all kinds of ass.
  8. You're very quick to accept the story-line as presented by the only living witnesses (i.e. the police). I'd love to see bodycam footage of the event immediately leading up to the firing upon an unarmed civilian, car thief or otherwise, in front of an occupied motor home before I start waxing philosphical on the true nature of the losses of life. As we've seen time and again, a cop's loyalty to truth is almost always trumped by their instinctual self-preservation.
  9. Yeah. I'm not saying my wife didn't miss it. I'm just having a hard time wrapping my head around how that all could have gone down in the way that it did. I wish we had the video from the intersection.
  10. For anyone on a diet, they sell frozen chili lime chicken burgers that are 150 calories each with a ton of protein. That was an easy low-cal dinner when I went a little to heavy on calories at breakfast or lunch. Even though my diet bet is done, they'll still be a staple ingredient in our house going forward. Same goes for their assorted macarons. 120 calories for 3 macarons, which was a perfect way to satiate a sweet tooth without breaking the bank. Lastly, for those not dieting, they have kringles from O&H Bakery in Racine, WI seasonally throughout the year. These are probably a top 3 breakfast pastry in my book, and one of the things I miss most from my time living in southeast Wisconsin. Of all the bakeries that make them, O&H are the best, so you're getting a regional delicacy at a great price when you find these at T-Joes. Their flavors change seasonally. I believe now they have raspberry. Pecan or Almond are my absolute favorites, but all varieties are fantastic.
  11. Yeah, my wife was in the 2nd lane from the right in a 6 lane feeder and hit the rear quarter panel of the vehicle the would have already crossed the previous 4 lanes. So either that person got a hell of a jump off the light and/or my wife was WAY too late for the light, but in the second circumstance, it seems that there likely would have been someone else in that busy street who would have been on the accident without a chance to avoid it. It's just too busy of an intersection for someone to run a red light and only cause a 2 car accident at that time of the day (i.e. lunch time).
  12. Sicilian, with rampant ADHD. Plus period brain fog. She thinks I'm being an ass by guilting her, but this could have been much, much worse for both parties. Driving is a priviledge, and she needs to treat her time operating that vehicle with the appropriate level of attention and awareness.
  13. No, the cop didn't witness the action. No bystanders hung around and gave statements either. None of it makes sense to me, given that it was 11:45ish during the day at a busy intersection. I don't know how only 2 cars could have met in that intersection at that time; there should be enough traffic that it would have likely caused a bigger pile-up. The lawyer we hired is a former prosecutor for Mont. County. He said that once we have a letter from our insurance stating that they are covering all of the damages, that is often enough to get the court to dismiss the charges. I hope he's right.
  14. Wife supposedly ran a red light and collided with another vehicle. She can't say for certain whether she did; she was still sort of in shock when I got to the scene and even afterwards can't remember any of the detail prior to her braking before impact. She had a speeding ticket dismissed through deferred adjudication w/ defensive driving in Magnolia back in December, so I'm pretty sure she's still in her probationary period. I'm guessing we'd need a lawyer to try to move the court dates back and/or get the charges reduced to a non-moving violation to prevent her from getting points on her license. She'd gone about 10 years without an accident or moving violation before this shit happened. Anyone have someone they would recommend in this case? I've previously had a bs failure to yield to emergency vehicle charged dropped through my own representation at JP3, but it's a new judge now and this charge is much more likely to cause continued financial suffering. TIA
  15. No such luck. iirc, it was Jeff and Pete.
  16. lulz. You're screwed. Also, lots of fraternizing between the crew teams. Maybe it's best for you that she not join crew.
  17. Yeah, and pacman was right about there being a lot of crossover in ideal body composition between female volleyball stars and female rowing athletes. My short ass would have been better off trying to lose 70 lbs and become a coxswain than to actually survive on an 8-man crew.
  18. Now that you mention it, there were a couple of very wealthy guys on the freshman crew team at Johns Hopkins when I was on it. One was part of the Heinz family, another of the Vlasic family as well. They actually attended practices and participated on the team, but I wouldn't be surprised if that was part of their admissions decision. They seemed more into Greek life than academics anyway.
  19. It does raise a question of where the line is drawn between just shaming and unjust bullying.
  20. Well, the DA is the one that presents the evidence. If they want a no-bill, they can do a shitty enough job to ensure that they get a no-bill. Let's not pretend that the Grand Jury is the real power in the courtroom during the indictment. *TwiceHorn beat me to it.
