  1. For those looking for a stroll down memory lane, I'm pretty sure the FDA made Planter's stop making these because they were literally crack.
  2. If a DC10 is good enough for Xenu, it's good enough for me.
  3. You'd be surprised how many tests are done as terms of probation. I think it's probably more like 50% pre-employment, 40% court mandated, 10% medical use.
  4. Yeah. Don't get me wrong, I hate LabCorp and Quest because they tend to treat every "patient" as if they were some shithead there for court-mandated drug testing. But I was more uncomfortable watching the repeated phlebotomy scenes than I am actually getting a blood draw. Also, lancet finger pricks hurt about as much as an actual venous draw. I would know; I have both done to me when I donate platelets every 5ish weeks. If they want to actually lower the cost of blood tests to increase accessibility, then maybe they should work on dismantling our bullshit health insurance industry that does nothing more than bloat costs and obfuscate pricing. Wouldn't hurt for congress to address the essential monopoly that two companies have over an entire industry as well. I'd think so anti-trust laws might be in breach.
  5. UVM over FSU. Write it in pen.
  6. He shows one of several billboard leased by the HPOU asking to "Support the HPD 5" aka, the 5 officers injured in the botched Pecan Park raid. Refers to some eyewitness testimony from the day of the shooting. Supposedly Mr. Tuttle lay screaming for help for 10 minutes after the shooting, asking for help and screaming for his wife. Supposedly at least one uniformed officer asked about going in to render aid, but was told by another to "let the m***** f***** die." Cops waited 2 hours while a robot was sent in to clear the house, a house that had been under surveillance for 24 hours prior to the raid. They knew there were no other people there and used the robot as justification for their delay which allowed the homeowners to die without medical attention. Re-iterated the claim that after the delay, a SWAT officer fired 1-3 shots into Mr. Tuttle from the kitchen window to ensure he was dead. Autopsy reports haven't been produced yet. Their results should tell us a lot about what happened. Supposedly at least one officer outside the home had a Go-Pro camera on. If recording (which it should have been after shots were fired), it should have captured the cries for help from Mr. Tuttle. Cops have denied such video footage exists. Briefly alluded to his own legal troubles as though they are a result of him pressing the issue, but didn't address anything specifically.
  7. Finished a diet bet on Friday. It was 9 weeks long. I dropped from 269.6lbs to 241.6lbs, which was good enough for 2nd place among the men (and 1st overall in total weight lost). That was entirely from logging calories and restricting my diet. I feel so much better already, but I'm due to start going back to the gym to increase my daily calorie burn. Being strapped to a desk 8+ hours a day feels like death sentence.
  8. I bought 2 corned beefs yesterday. I'll cook one on Wednesday for some late corned beef and cabbage (w/ plenty of leftover for hash). The other will get a dry rub and rest in the fridge for 1-2 days next week before I smoke it into a pastrami. Homemade pastrami kicks all kinds of ass.
  9. Right time period, but not exactly. Apparently there was a Dr. from Vermont that was pushing "honegar" as a cure-all in the 70s. Yep, apple cider vinegar and honey. Apparently this caught on in Japan, so when an apple and honey flavored curry product was made, Vermont curry seemed an appropriate name. Either way, it was pretty tasty, but a little too mild for my taste. I'll cook it again, but I'll try the med-hot variety next time. Tasted great for lunch today too. A serving plus some cooked brown rice only ran about 440 calories too, which is very diet friendly while still being filling.
  10. You're a braver man than me. I'm actually surprised it works and the glass survived the high heat and point loads.
  11. Do my eyes deceive me, or are you using a cast iron pot with legs on top of a glass top stove?
  12. Be sure to toast them in a dry pan first. It softens them up and gives them a great flavor.
  13. I would pretty much co-sign anything Brisketexan writes at this point. I'm assuming he's just an older, wiser version of myself at this point.
  14. Anyone ever try Japanese curry? My curiousity got the better of me and I bought a box of Vermont Curry. I'm trying it tonight for dinner w/ chicken thighs and brown rice.
  15. God, the sounds of the psychological warfare they used (dolphin chirps and the screams of dying rabbits) was fucking haunting. I hope Janet Reno is rotting in hell now.
  16. Yeah, if you listen to the Reasonable Doubt podcast with Adam Corolla and Mark Geragos, they talked about Roger Stone and similar situations. In most of these cases, the defense's legal counsel has already let the prosecutor know that they would surrender themselves in the event of a warrant. This is a case of the DA/SA/etc. wanting to send a political message, unleashing the dogs when their use of force is entirely unnecessary. It's especially true when they tip off a news agency so they can be there to film the arrest raid, even though it was a sealed indictment. Apparently proper rules and etiquette don't apply if you work for the State.
  17. There's usually just enough queso left to do just that as the tacos arrive.
  18. Yeah, but all Torchy's should be dine-in only. I can't imagine eating any of their food after a car ride home. I've got a method: Step 1 - Go directly to bar. Order beer/pegleg/Mexican Martini (based on whatever is on HH special that day). Order queso at the same time. Step 2 - Once queso arrives, order your tacos (and another drink if needed). Step 3 - You should be just about finished with your chips and queso by the time the tacos arrive. Step 4 - profit
  19. I got shingles last summer. Worst part was no pool for like 4-6 weeks until the symptoms subsided. For me, it was a few small patches on my back, but was like a 1/10 on the pain/itchiness scale. My wife actually popped like 2-3 of the blisters thinking it was some sort of acne before I convinced her that it wasn't zits. That crazy woman will pop any skin abnormality if you let her. I was put on Valtrex and some steroids and that's about it. I was born in '85 and remember getting chickenpox as a young kid (1st grade I think), before the vaccine was available.
  20. Missionary style green chile pork is the best taco they make. 1 of those bad boys is enough. Wife likes the Mad Cow, but the consistency in fajita serving varies wildly location to location.
  21. I agree completely. The only reason it isn't happening is because Art is afraid of the findings and the political ramifications. I hope his ass is run out of town on a rail never to be elected even a fucking dog catcher ever again.
  22. I've got an acquaintance who is retired HPD. I asked him about this case and he was very much of the "wait until the facts come out before rendering judgement" mentality, which I can understand given his background and history. I asked about the words of the union rep, and he said he understands why the guy said what he did, because that is the same feeling among a lot of the rank and file. He basically blamed the rhetoric of BML, "Hands up, don't shoot", "fry like bacon" shit for driving the cops to be so defensive, which sounds like Fox News spin all day long to me. He didn't really respond to my proposition that words like this from a union rep only exacerbate the divide. To me, that rep sounds more like a Teamster mob boss from the 60's than anything else. I asked about Art, and he said "Acevedo is a politician, not a good chief" and that he is essentially trying to CYA for future political reasons by opting for an internal investigation vs. bringing in the Texas Rangers to do an honest 3rd party investigation. I've got to believe that the Ranger will be brought in eventually if shit goes awry, which I suspect it will.
  23. I'd like to know how they managed to make the leap from drug user to drug dealer to get a warrant for a no-knock raid. My guess is that the CI's name is Fuzzy Dunlop.
  24. https://abc13.com/what-was-found-in-home-after-deadly-drug-raid-hpd-warrant/5127653/ The entire investigation began after the concerned mother of the now-dead 50-something year old woman called 911 concerned about the welfare of her daughter doing drugs in her (now raided) home. "Oh, you're concerned she's doing drugs? We'll send someone right over and make sure you never have to be concerned about her well-being ever again."
