  1. He had plenty of time to scrub that before his name was released to the public.
  2. This is far more egregious than Guyger, even if he was on the clock. No way they find an expert to say this shooting was by the books. He gets the murder wrap and goes away a minimum of 20 years. Would have been 30+ for you or me, but that is the only deference his badge will provide him.
  3. I bet his pistol isn't the only thing that shoots prematurely.
  4. My parents had to put down our family dog, Bridgette, today. She was about 14 and her health was failing. She was adopted by our family after my little sister brought her home from her Vet Tech school. She was the animal that my sister practiced all of her nursing procedures on that semester, and we were only to keep her until we found her a good home. After a brief re-housing with neighbors, Bridgette returned to us as she had already made home in our hearts. Just another in a long line of good pets for our family. Here's a video of a much younger Bridgette with our old Aussie Zack who passed on several years back. Their house is going to be hauntingly quiet. I wish I could be there to comfort them.
  5. I'm surprised anyone in SPI was worldly enough to know of Faulty (Fawlty) Towers.
  6. If you want to be even more enraged... Brailsford was fired from the force following the shooting. After he was acquitted, he was re-hired for a day then allowed to retire with disability for his PTSD. He's got a pension for the rest of his life after he killed an unarmed intoxicated man in cold blood who did nothing more than try not to let his shorts sag while losing the deadliest game ever of Simon Says. Shaver's widow and child are still fighting in civil court with Mark Geragos as their attorney. The commanding Sergeant that escalated the whole incident to the boiling point retired shortly after the murder and skipped off to live in the Philippines.
  7. Get a rope. If the cops can be judge, jury, and executioners, then John Q Public should have reciprocal rights.
  8. All that and yet still my wife would rather believe that the cops are framing 3 Louisiana black men to cover up their witness retribution murder... I guess she's never heard of loose ends. To be fair, she's a terrible liar, so maybe she just can't think like a good liar.
  9. Wife - "It's weed, for crying out loud. Not cocaine or heroin. No one dies over weed."
  10. Jesus Fuck. If this was a hit for testifying, Dallas deserves to burn.
  11. No kind of ice cream. The shooting took place around 9:50 at night and the responding officers were there about 3 minutes afterwards. I don't know where you got the idea that this occurred in the afternoon.
  12. If the prosecutor had given some actual reasoning for their sentencing recommendation other than the age Bo would have turned at his birthday the previous weekend, the jury might have been inclined to agree. As good as the state was throughout the rest of the trial, it felt like they were unprepared during their closing statement. I hate the preferential treatment of cops as much as the next ACAB protester, but I don't see this sentence as being a cop out. There were definitely mitigating circumstances in the eyes of the jury, even if they weren't mitigating to the point of "sudden passion", and they scaled their sentence accordingly. I've said it before and I'll say it again - if you expected Guyger to be punished based on the crimes of other officers that were acquitted, then you set yourself up for disappointment. Take the win and move on to the next battle and quit bitching because your team didn't run up the score.
  13. Yeah, if that one act didn't spawn at least a moment on introspection for self-identified Christians, then I don't know why they would even consider themselves Christians in the first place.
  14. Of all the posters I thought would be satisfied with this verdict, I thought you'd be near the top. Hell, she probably won't be older than 40 when she gets out. We know she has daddy issues, low self-esteem, sends nudes, and puts out to men she shouldn't. She's right in your wheelhouse, especially if she adds a few lbs while in the clink.
  15. I wish we could go back in time and inform the CBC that it was actually the CIA that was bringing in the tons and tons of cocaine to fund their guerrilla wars in Central/South America...
  16. Judge was a rockstar in all this. I don't know how she stayed composed through the father's testimony. I was a fucking mess listening to it on headphones.
  17. This is another great example of the power of humility and forgiveness against all odds for anyone looking for a good listen. We could all do better by finding a way to listen to those we would villify. https://www.wnycstudios.org/podcasts/radiolab/segments/317629-dear-hector
