This is starting to look like shopping for the new family dog after the old one died. Shopping rescues hoping you get something close to what you are looking for, paying less. Sometimes you find a cute one that only has 3 legs and a name so you can't rename it tripod which defeats the purpose of having a 3 legged dog. Rich people go out and find a breeder with great championship bloodlines of the exact breed they want. They overpay but usually get a damn good dog. Why can't we go get a damn good dog.

Great avatar, but I gotta call you out on the rescue dog analogy.  Rescues are awesome! Woof.

he did initiate contact, it's like no one here owns a DVR.

nope.  Watch the video here, helmet taken off at 24:12, play over at 24:16.  Coburn runs toward the play, but does not initiate any contact unless you want to count the little shove that occurred after the play was over.

maybe it depends on the actual wording.  he never got involved in the play after his helmet came off.  IMO, If they are going to say a player has to stop in place and take himself out of the play then that penalty needs to be reviewable to see what caused the helmet to come off.  the OL caused the "safety issue" to occur.  he is the one that should be penalized.

This.  Rule needs to be amended to penalize the player only if he initiates contact after his helmet comes off.

Yurcich and Ash both have the chops to be successful at Texas if Herman is capable of making sure they do. The question is whether Herman's introspection went any deeper than the problems with his coaching staff.

Herman has said on many occasions that he wants to be more of a CEO-type coach, not involved in the detailed game planning.  If he is true to his word, I think we improve under both these guys.  He realized early that Beck was a poor choice and had to get more involved in the offense.  The I think the Orlando shit-fest caught him off guard, and he isn't capable of helping on that side of the ball.  Ultimately I think having both sides of the ball go sideways overwhelmed Herman this year (and as head coach he couldn't find a stealthy way to do some blow off a stripper's ass to clear his head).
