  1. We've debated if there is ever logic in folding AA pre-flop here before. For the first time in my life, I did it yesterday. And it was obviously the right play, due to weirdness of circuit play and points system. Background: WSOP satellite deal at my golf course played over like 7 events with your best 4 counting, we only play down to 3, so limping into 3rd is worth the same as dominating. Only one guy has a legitimate chance to outpoint me to earn one of the seats. Through coincidence that guy can only play a couple of hours yesterday, then has to leave and let his stack blind off. We get 5 handed, I'm in a dominating chip position (~60%) with two small stacks on my right (dead stack on my left), and I calculate that it's actually more important for his stack to blind off before anybody else busts from a points perspective. So, I switch gears to intentionally give chips away and kinda hope the two small stacks are paying enough attention to figure it out and take some from me. I wasn't colluding, but I wasn't being not obvious about it, either. They seemed to get it pretty quickly when I folded to a pretty small all-in that I had easily covered. Anyway, I get AA in the big blind...fold, fold, button raises, small blind pushes his small stack that I easily cover, buuuuuuut it's more important that the small blind stays in the game than it is for me to gain chips, through the logic of this points system. The dead stack has about 4 revolutions left, and if I don't bust this guy...everybody at the table has his stack covered. Fold. I folded a couple other monsters. It took ~two hours of really weird poker and me giving away a lot of chips, but I successfully donated enough to blind the villain's stack off in 5th and get to the end 2nd in chips to get max points for myself. I do feel like the poker gods owe me a kick in the nuts, though. Looking forward to that.
  2. We’re from Kansas. Damn, man...get your head right.
  3. So anybody guinea pigged Interstellar yet? I grabbed Taco Shack for the kids this morning, and the smoker was going. I might try it today.
  4. We did Woodyard during the Big 12 tourney a few years back, a Texas BBQ snob buddy of mine recommended it. We all had burnt ends and shared a couple racks of pork ribs, and it was all pretty solid. I am pretty strictly a burnt end and pork rib guy up there, even though I measure Texas places on brisket. I cannot state it enough, you do not order “brisket” in KC. You will hate it, because most places use the point for burnt ends and thinly slice the flat for (mostly) sandwiches. Regardless of how good it might taste (or not), you’re getting something that looks like Arby’s.
  5. Agreed on Singles. Same thing with High Fidelity for me.
  6. I think Tech wins on Saturday, but that doesn't detract from the awesomeness of that reddit post.
  7. Beans and bacon fat talk not going away. Because it shouldn’t.
  8. I preferred it. The 116600 is my favorite of the SD line (and the version I own). On the new one, I agree that the red lettering is pretty egregious, but it’s fine aesthetically.
  9. Tristan Thompson is a guy that physically could have been a poor man’s Anthony Davis, but never really put it all together until after college. *being a poor man’s Anthony Davis is neither insult or cheap shot
  10. Spreadable fruit appears to be the preferred nomenclature, dude.
  11. Everybody says they’re done at 60 when they’re 49. The target is another national title, not a conference streak that has already surpassed Wooden. Hang another big banner and the next arena in Lawrence is named after him. That’s the goal. If all the NCAA has is DeSousa, there will be a practical limit on how much they can (or will want to) punish. Preston was also bad, but he never played a minute. The dirtiest laundry in the FBI investigation was Ayton and Zion, I just don’t think they’re going to want to dig too deep, but we’ll see. All the top 100 kids are getting something. Do the people getting rich on the amateurism scam want that house of cards crumbling? I just don’t see it, and if it really came down to it there’s always the “fuck off” defense that Carolina used.
  12. Not weird enough. Go to Saxon/Hut’s/whatever it’s called now.
  13. He was also cheating before everybody was doing it and was the only even decent program west of the Rockies. He had an easier path to the championship game every year than Alabama football does right now. Insert overrated chant here.
  14. That’s a good question, E8 is the correct round to make the choice interesting. I’ll differ from Jhawk’s answer in that I would take the Elite 8. Last year’s conference championship set the streak record, so I’d have chosen it then...but that record will last until I’m dead, so I don’t care as much as extending it as I did setting it. If that makes sense.
  15. The round robin is much more fun. Losing it is the worst thing about big conferences. Basketball-wise anyway, I guess having teams you don’t even play in football is worse.
  16. For some reason Molsons and 55 yard line made this joke gawddamn perfectly executed.
  17. The divisions only existed for half the streak, and the south wasn’t “unquestionably” better for all of that half. And the south absolutely benefitted from only having to play KU once. Just as the north benefitted from only having to play Texas once during their late 00s peak. Anyway, my posting history here isn’t is a KU homer, I was actually paying K-State a compliment. They’re the only team to share in the true round robin era, and it looks like they’re the going to be the one to end it.
  18. Texas has done it twice. OU once very early in the streak (maybe the first year) and K-State most recently. Only K-State did it having to play home and home. The other three beat KU on their home floor in the north/south days and didn’t play in Lawrence.
  19. Bamba probably affected the game the most on defense, but the best defensive player was Royal Ivey.
  20. I’m not going as heavy on relief pitching this year.
  21. I tried the Action Network app, turns out I subscribe. After a little digging, looks most likely that I drunkenly chased a Chad Millman tweet one time. Found money.
  22. Detroit, Brooklyn, Washington ML parlay for a unit. Shakes out to -112 or so. Golden State fits the profile, but is such a huge favorite their ML doesn’t add much value.
  23. I would like to see the new Sea dweller in person...there’s no way I “upgrade” from my 2016 ceramic that I like better, but I want to see it. Still haven’t found a dealer with one and Bernard is still getting a couple grand over retail when they find one.
