  1. Disheartened? Poor body language? That’s all pretty subjective. Objectively...Scottie Pippen quite literally quit on his team and refused to go back into a game. Allen Iverson is more famous for skipped practices than he is for dragging a dogshit team to the finals. I think you underestimate the sacrifices modern NBA players make in the name of winning, and you have more nostalgia for the 90s era competitiveness than those guys deserve. It reminds me of the Kobe apologists who tried to hang their hat on how clutch he was until we figured out how to measure “close and late” performance and LeBron’s numbers murdered the argument.
  2. I think we’re talking about different things, because his model still has TTU projected at 12-6. That’s a calculation based on all the win probabilities and not simply adding up losses for games where they’re less than 50% to win. KU currently projected at 13-5 even with only one predicted specific game loss. That sounds pretty accurate to me...I think 13 wins gets the league title outright, so that’s probably what the race is to.
  3. Austin driving is a reflection of the demographic...we have a mix of bad driving habits from all over.
  4. UT fans have shown that they’ll go if they have a reason. The Durant year and Shaka year 1 were both pretty well attended. And there are ~4000 seats in the Drum you couldn’t pay me to sit in. They won’t watch bad teams through thick and thin or anything, but basically nobody does that outside of Iowa State.
  5. Yeah. And we haven’t advance at all toward the flying car utopia advertised to us in Back to the Future 2. We’re spending our science all wrong.
  6. That seems a very weird game to beat the KU Gets All The Calls drum.
  7. Because we don’t know what they are. The burn cards are the easiest to wrap your mind around...a burn card is exactly as likely to be an A, 2, 9, etc. since we don’t know which of this it is, we must still count that card as both a possible out and as a remaining card for odds calculations. Mucked cards get the same treatment mathematically. Edit for an example...if you took 1/3 of the deck away, you take 1/3 of the outs but also 1/3 of the blanks, so you’re not changing the odds. Let’s take a hypothetical where you have 12 outs with 45 unknown cards on the river. If you reshuffle all cards out of play, I’ll draw my winner 12/45 (26.6%). If you take or we started with 1/3 of the deck gone I catch my winner 8/30 (also 26.6%). So any card that is unknown to us, whether folded, burned, or still in the deck gets identical treatment.
  8. Lost that bet (in OT), going back to the KU fade tonight...first true road game, good team, Jayhawks been sluggish but surviving. Bad spot. Arizona State +3 1/2
  9. Think of it like shitty paint colors...easy fix that’s suppressing the price because it’s a shitty aesthetic.
  10. Yeah, this is kinda me. I’ll eat some left overs, especially stuff that gets better, but I grew up eating horrid leftovers of shit that wasn’t good the first time. I resolved that if/when I ever had money, I was never eating terrible generic versions of stuff to save a dime (mustard, cereal) and I was only eating leftovers I liked after the first day (chili, BBQ).
  11. My 4th grader is responsible for getting himself to the bus stop (like I was), but the flip side is I didn’t attend a giant schools district with staggered start times for bus re-use. My pickup time was never 6-fucking-fifty.
  12. The nearest I’ve ever come to a fight with an Aggie was me laughing at their nose tackle dancing after making a play for a one yard loss on their own 5. It was the 4th quarter of 77-0 and OU was just falling down to avoid making it worse.
  13. Both teams struggling to run good offense. At least 5 too many fouls called so far to ruin any flow.
  14. Meh, there is truth to it. College basketball is the exact opposite, since everybody that matters and about 40 teams that don't are getting into the tournament anyway. This means casual fans don't give a flying fuck about 99% of games until about March 15th.

Had dinner with the wife at Mouton's Bistro last night. I was pleasantly surprised, but you're driving to Leanderpark to eat at one. It WAS filled with hipster douches (oxymoron in the middle of suburbia I would have thought) playing trivia that kept yelling "Balls" after the host would say "Sports" as a category, because you know...being too cool for sports is a thing now.
  16. You bought her a RR Sport and let her take it to the dealership. This is partly to mostly on you. If the service manager has any sense of humor at all, your detailed bill will show up as...
  17. Started 0-5 in one league, rattle off 8 straight to fight into the playoffs, currently at my lowest point total of the season by 30 with the Seahawks defense left. Exit stage left.
  18. Bubba Starling is very possibly why he chose to play football. That guy did everything possible to commit to baseball, and it still doesn’t look like it’s going to work.
  19. Think I would have gone Zuckermuskzos here.
  20. Not much of one, really. He's still a liability in all the same ways you remember from last year...especially the foul line and defending away from the basket. We've also added the wrinkle of forcing the ball into him repeatedly on offense, which tends to bog the offense down. I expect us to play smaller and look subjectively better, but we'll take a step backward on the glass.
  21. Udoka Azubuike with an ankle injury against Wofford, out indefinitely.
  22. Run better and you won’t lose so many hands.
