From aggy Mike on Texags:
If you look at the top 6 teams of the sec (all who have 1 or 2 conference losses and are in contention for the SEC conference title game - note there will be at least one two loss team), A&M has not played a single premier team (we remain the only team not to have played a top SEC team). Honestly, outside of losses to two currently ranked teams (south Carolina, Notre Dame), we may not have a played (no wins) a currently ranked team when the polls update (LSU & Missouri May both become unranked).
TU has a weak schedule but they have played UGA (1 loss). So it looks like the SEC conference ranking is really based on who you play. TU has the 2nd easiest conference schedule after A&M.
This will definitely hurt A&Ms conference championahip aspirations (if we get another regular season loss) and playoff chances.
The only team that we played in the SEC with a winning conference record was South Carolina and that was a blowout.
We need to think of our resume and how marketable we are to the playoffs committee, recruits, etc. The TU game is what we need more than anything as it would provide justification to our ranking (or alternatively support naysayers pointed to our weak schedule as the only reason why we have a good record).
