  1. My first car was a beige 1983 Rabbit. My second was a 1991 Jetta. I drove both of them into the ground and had little to no maintenance problems with them.
  2. It’s always the same, it’s just a shame.
  3. Look Bud, we know what’s good for the kids!
  4. Maybe Hopfields. A little north of campus. Or grab a burger at Crown & Anchor or Dirty’s if you want something more old school UT. Arturo’s is a great breakfast spot. Downtown but just a couple blocks south of campus.
  5. “I have a better solution. You keep me on the payroll as an outside consultant and in exchange for my salary, my job will be never to tell people these things that I know. I don't even have to come into the office, I can do this job from home.”
  6. It's wild, Phillip. Always has been, always will be. Just like us.
  7. It's just like DOGE. Fire some federal workers here, gut an agency there. Oops, we fired critical staff. Okay, you're rehired. On to the next round of pink slips.
  8. Always wondered what it would be like living in Lubbock. (From my office looking across Town Lake to the southwest.)
  9. It's going to be awesome when those youths need to get a job, buy a car, and pay off their student loans over the next couple years.
  10. The fact that Johntay's not posting leads me to believe that he's either (A) not at home, (B) home, but doesn't want to post, or (C) home, desperately wants to post, but trapped under something heavy. Johntay, if it's either A or C, please post.
  11. That's good. aggy's disaster preparedness is second to none.
  12. The glass windows of my downtown office have been creaking the past few hours because of the wind. And looking from a conference room across Town Lake and to the southwest horizon, it's hazy as shit. Is that the wind blowing cedar and other pollen?
  13. "This land is your land . . . no it's not."
  14. Like a rape with lube.
  15. Sir, I'm a member of Surly. I have an abundance of time with nothing to do.
  16. How much to blow him? Asking for my governor friend.
  17. I understand this hits a nerve for Armybrat considering he fought at the Alamo. Thank you for your service, Brat.
  18. Don't listen to him. He's just being silly.
  19. We probably need to re-name the thread "Trump's Russia."
  20. Way late to this (waffle) party like a lot of shows. The wife and I finished Season 1 last night, and holy shit this is a great show. I know it borrows from other stories with plot devices like parallel alternate realities, but it's so unique. As some folks mentioned, the set design makes it difficult to pin down the time period of the show. Lumen is using some advanced technology, but the computers, cars, furniture, and other set items make it look like something from 1970s Canada. And there's a touch of dysphoria throughout. And the acting of the innies and other Lumen employees is fantastic. All four characters of the MDR Department are all so compelling. And Trammell Tillman steals the show. He plays Mr. Milichick brilliantly, with always a touch of sinister below the surface. On to Season 2.
