  1. That menu looks awesome. I’ll definitely check it out.
  2. My balls haven’t dropped back down since yesterday around 7pm.
  3. How subtle of you. Nothing along the lines of, “I’m ______, nice to meet you in real life.” Or, “How do you know the host?” Just right out of the gate: “How’s your mom?”
  4. When you think of garbage, think of Hakeem.
  5. Wait, are we getting Gotch Yarbrough’d?
  6. I'm a child of the 80s, in some ways a child of Ronald Reagan, who grew up viewing Russia as the enemy of America and its ideals of democracy and freedom, with Reagan as the figurehead of America's use of global power and influence to keep Russia in check. And that pro-America/anti-Russia sentiment permeated throughout our film culture -- Red Dawn, Rocky IV, Firefox, Hunt for Red October, The Day After, Spies Like Us, etc. . . . . Shit, I ate it up as a kid, and before I had any sense of political awareness and intellect, I identified as Republican until somewhere in the middle of college in the 90s. And it wasn't just my generation and the 80s. This was prevalent in the 60s and 70s as well. Think the Cuban Missile Crisis that many of our parents experienced in high school or college. So it's utterly fucking mystifying how that same party of Reagan, those conservatives who grew up with anti-Russian policies and attitudes, knowing that you just cannot get into bed with those communist oppressive oligarch mother fuckers, seem to have no problem whatsoever with (1) Putin's unprovoked, unjustified, and reprehensible invasion of Ukraine, and (2) Trump's gargling of Putin's balls seeking "peace" and an end to the war that doesn't appear at this point to accept any input from THE COUNTRY THAT WAS FUCKING INVADED and may be all or mostly on Putin's terms. This is fucking unreal.
  7. Just because I know it’s coming, you assholes.
  8. According to this NPR article (I heard it on the radio earlier this week), the University of Alabama at Birmingham is the state's largest employer. Link Maybe they were referring to the University of Alabama system, but UAB alone apparently does a shitton of biomedical research, and last year alone it received $330 million in funding from NIH. And guess what? UAB could lose millions from Trump/Musk's NIH funding cuts, which would result in loss of several jobs at UAB, not to mention the ripple effects on the local economy. FAAFO, you dipshits.
  9. They should hire him as an analyst. He has a decent winning record at Kyle Field.
  10. Most political science professors have a shitload of time on their hands.
  11. Right. A political movement against mediocrity.
  12. Maybe the vouchers can be used for that child care. Yeah, I know, that's a stupid idea the Republicans will never buy . . . .
  13. If my memory is correct, Chance Mock was a Parade All-American QB (back when that publication and it's AA list was a thing), and it was a huge deal for Texas to have signed back-to-back Parade AA QB's (Simms the year before).
  14. That may be right. I recall that Martin sustained a bad knee injury his senior year and never really recovered and/or never put in the effort. He's listed on the 2005 roster, but I don't remember him hanging around that long. https://texaslonghorns.com/sports/2013/6/28/FB_2005_Roster He reportedly played in six games at Texas, and in 2008 signed with the Odessa Roughnecks. 15. My wife, born and raised in Texas by Texan parents, insists that she grew up with beans in chili because that's what middle class Texans did to stretch a pot of chili for an additional meal or two. I tell her, "Fine, but I'm still calling it stew." She is not amused.
  16. Good point. I have a friend in Breaux Bridge whose son attended the local Catholic school his whole life. Seems like those are scattered around rural Louisiana.
  17. Not sure. NPR said that Fridays may be faculty planning days where teachers can have "free" time to catch up on educational planning. The only savings I caught were the need for substitute teachers, as Fridays are typically the days when substitutes are used most. I suppose you're also saving on cafeteria and janitorial staff, and bus drivers. Nothing was mentioned about how parents who don't get Fridays off from work can accommodate the 4-day school week.
  18. True. And he also went to Nebraska, and was 0-2 against Texas, so I can understand some of the source of his rage and emotional shortcomings.
  19. Same. Even in very cold weather he usually likes to explore for a bit in the backyard after doing his pre-dawn business, but today he pissed, looked around and said "nope," and came back to the door.
  20. Some of you may have heard that Liberty Hill ISD just announced that it's moving to a hybrid schedule that will include 4-day school weeks for much of school year as a way to trim the budget, which currently is facing a $7million+ deficit. KVUE.com Two obvious points: 1. I'm sure most of the parents, faculty, and administrators in Liberty Hill ISD voted for Trump, Abbott, and all the other Republicans. 2. Liberty ISD is going to be fucked even more once vouchers pass, because I'm guessing there's not a private school in the vicinity, and certainly not one that will admit all of the kids who are looking to attend area public schools heading for an underfunding spiral.
  21. He probably thinks Trump was only talking about a limited number of veterans that don't include him. He's also going on 81 and losing his mental faculties.
  22. I wouldn't put him on the list of "biggest" busts. And I don't think he was the highest rated DL in his class -- that may have been Rodrique Wright. But it definitely took Dibbles a while before he worked himself into the DL rotation, and I recall by his senior year on the championship team he was a solid contributor. And he might have been in on the 4th down stop of Lendale White. Googled Larry Dibbles and found this in a Tom Lemming recruiting write up: "As a junior he recorded 142 tackles, 21 QB sacks, and 30 tackles for losses, and he caused eight fumbles, batted down eight passes and made one INT." https://www.espn.com/recruiting/s/dibbles.html
