  1. Notre Dame and Michigan actually have plausible academic standards for their student athletes. Listen to a couple of Weigman's press conferences and tell me that he's going to Notre Dame or Michigan.
  2. South Austin

    Weird Al

Man, I loved him growing up in the 80s. I played the shit out of my In 3D and Dare to be Stupid cassettes, and I loved UHF. He's always seemed like a genuinely good and humble dude.
  3. Hey, you're talking to a fellow English major, and one who barely passed his pass/fail Accounting for Non-Accounting Majors course my last semester of undergrad. In all fairness, I got early-admitted to UT Law the prior December, and by the time my Spring semester senior year rolled around, I was in full fuck-off mode. Still, to this day I can't really tell you what a balance sheet is, or why, for some reason, it always balances.
  4. Okay then, Graham faps to the thought of Paul laughing at his small penis.
  5. I've thought this should happen for a long time. But maybe the wounds are just too deep. I was never really that passionate about Applewhite over Simms or vice versa. They both had their strengths and weaknesses, and both had their great games and stinkers. Unfortunately, Chris's bad games were just in historically bad losses. But I always liked him and rooted for him, and as much as I hated that loss to Colorado, I hated even more the way a very unattractive portion of our fan base shit all over him. I remember when Sam Ehlinger was our QB, and Simms was talking about him and the Longhorns on some radio show or podcast, and they played for Chris a video of Sam playing catch with his dad when he was 4-5 years old, and little Sam Ehlinger yells out, "I'm Chris Simms!" Chris was visibly moved by that.
  6. And at least Kevin bagged Winnie Cooper. Graham faps to the thought of Winnie laughing at his small penis.
  7. When Quinn takes the snap, does he give the ball to someone else to make the pass?
  8. I know that, and I am happy for her, and she's always been an incredibly intelligent and confident old soul, so I know she'll be fine. But it's still hurting right now.
  9. Pro tip from my Breaux Bridge friend that I've offered before on this thread: If you want to add flavor aside from spices and whatever you get from however you make the roux, add a tablespoon or so of soy sauce. It's a subtle unami kick that turns it up.
  10. As an fyi, Alton Brown did a segment on gumbo a while back, and got all scientific on the darkness of roux, and the gist of it is that if you go darker, while you might get a bit more flavor, you lose its thickening properties. So it's trying to find the sweet spot between what you posted above and a light/blonde roux. For me, I usually take the roux off the heat and add the trinity when it's a dark reddish brown, as the roux will continue to darken a shade or so as it cooks the veggies.
  11. Did you tell your husband that before he bought his new grill?
  12. We've always been clear that you can have it your way. Sorry you're too afraid to tell them to hold the mayo.
  13. My daughter turned 18 in August, and she just registered to vote a few days before I fly her to Oregon to move her into her freshman dorm. She's going to vote absentee from college, and she knows that her vote in Texas won't mean much. But she wants to contribute to what we hope is a popular vote pile on, and she said she'd regret not voting, no matter the outcome. Man, I hope there are a lot more like her in November.
  14. Doctor said I should wait another week for federal, but was perfectly fine to start with state law. So, like starting against Mississippi State.
  15. I recently told my daughter my own move-in story. I'm the oldest, so the first kid my parents sent to college. They moved me into my cramped freshman dorm, my mom made my bed and helped unpack a few things, and then I recall they just left. No lunch, no stroll around campus. We parted at the elevator on my floor with a quick hug, and they were gone. I really didn't think much of it. My parents lived about 2.5 hours away, and I knew I'd see them on Labor Day weekend. Big deal, I'm in college now, and we were all looking forward to this day. So a few minutes after my parents left I decide to take a walk around campus and find a bite to eat. I see a couple about my parents age, and they're walking away from a dorm with a thousand-yard stare holding hands, and they both have tears streaming down their cheeks. Even the dad looked he was doing everything to keep it together. And I think to myself, "Oh shit, that was my parents." When I leave my daughter, I don't expect a prolonged good bye with a lot of parting wisdom. I already gave her my dump of fatherly advice and heavy discussion when I took her for a final father-daughter lunch last Saturday. And I told her that I'd be in Eugene all Friday after I move her in early that morning, and am available if she wanted to grab dinner, but I also respected the idea that it might be best to rip off the band aid and let her hang out with her new roommates or some of her high school friends who are also starting at UO. She opted for the latter, and I told her that I was perfectly okay with that. But fucking A, I've had a growing feeling of sadness this week, not just because she's going far away to college, but because in a very real sense, she's leaving me forever. She'll be back, of course, but never in the same way. It feels a little like a heartbreak.
  16. I don't see why Ewers can't play. A while ago I pulled my oblique and within a week I was back at my desk doing legal research.
  17. That's why they always stand with their hands on their knees.
  18. There's a reason why I didn't go into finance, but after operating at a loss for quite a while, how can this company even be valued at $2.5 billion. Is it the office furniture?
  19. Yeah, I haven't watched much of OU this season, but from everything I've read it seems like Arnold is done at OU like Garrett Gilbert was done at Texas early in the 2011 season.
  20. I don't photoshop, but would like to see imma among the bodies at Jonestown. Thank you in advance.
  21. Happy to see that the University of North Carolina is experiencing full-on Fuck You Pay Me mode.
