  1. Rent a Lamborghini, and unless you're insured by Fred Loya, your carrier should pay no problem.
  2. Fine! It's up!!!!
  3. From downtown Austin, ready to drive the opposite way to San Antonio for a mediation . . . TEXAS!!!
  4. @huge if true.
  5. Eh, not sure of that. I just happened to pick up the mantle from someone on the other site who had started that.
  6. Get ready for imitation lobster claws.
  7. Sorry, it's been a four-alarm fire week at work, so I'm off my game. FIGHT!!!
  8. Sir, I believe the correct term is Asian Express.
  9. Hold on a sec, is Ryan Reynolds Burt’s son?
  10. Gonna need a better pic of the wife.
  11. Stanford was my safety school.
  12. Yeah, who the fuck really knows. I think some basic principals to follow are: (1) yes, some extra-curricular activity on top of your grades and SAT/ACT is needed, unless they blow the roof off with their numbers; (2) don't let your kid pile on a bunch of extra-curricular activities, as the prevailing thought seems to be that showing a focus and attention to 2-3 activities as opposed to resume padding by joining every fucking club in school is preferable; (3) if your kid wants a more competitive major like engineering, it's very helpful to have a school activity or summer-camp-like experiences that are tied to that major and show a genuine pursuit interest; (4) having a job in high school seems to be given more weight than it was years ago. Where sports fits into that if you're kid isn't going to be playing in college, I'm really not sure. I've been told that a lot of college admissions folks really like band kids, because they generally are known to work their ass off.
  13. I was a bit worried that my Texas daughter would have a rough adjustment to the Oregon climate. But so far her first year in, it does seem much more moderate than Portland and other parts of the PNW. And even during the rainy season, there are days here and there when Eugene gets some nice sunny days. I told her that the key is to force yourself to go outside in the rain and just get used to being wet (#thatswhatshesaid). The instinct for Texans by and large is to stay in when it rains because that happens so rarely. If you do that in Oregon, the seasonal affective disorder and isolation can really kick in. She's taken that to heart, and she does spend a lot of time out and about.
  14. Generally two. But after my daughter’s sophomore year of high school, she did their counselor-in-training program which is three weeks. It was a lot of work and she was exhausted when it was over, but she loved it.
  15. Both of my kids and my stepdaughter have attended Camp Champions outside of Marble Falls and love it. And my daughter was a counselor her last summer before going off to college. At this point in the year they may be full or close to full, but I highly recommend checking it out. https://campchampions.com/
  16. I assume you've been to Eugene. I've only recently become acquainted with it since my daughter started school at Oregon. It has a small town feel, and sort of what I imagine Austin 30-40 years ago--liberal, hip/weird, educated, and mostly white. It's a beautiful town, and while there are long periods of gray skies and rain, the rain is more of a tolerable mist than a steady downpour. And the summer/early fall months are gorgeous. Great if you're into outdoor activities. And the only big city around is Portland, which I've heard is a cheap train ride from Eugene. But I'm not a big fan of Portland. It would probably make my list, but the rainy season would bump it down. I think I'd need more sun throughout the year, and a decent metro area 1-2 hours away.
  17. I usually go a tad darker, but @Anastasis that's a damn nice shade of roux.
  18. What if he told you they’re not?
  19. In a way, all of us has an El Guapo to face. For some, shyness might be their El Guapo. For others, a lack of education might be their El Guapo. For us, El Guapo is a big, dangerous man who wants to kill us. But as sure as my name is Lucky Day, the people of Santa Poco can conquer their own personal El Guapo, who also happens to be the actual El Guapo!
  20. Plowing the wife first thing in the morning is also good for a hangover. Trust me, I'm a lawyer.
  21. Agree on Ruby Slipper. It's still a quality brunch stop, and the Bloody Mary is a wonderful hair of the dog to start the day. I probably posted a picture of my brunch fare several pages back. Despite being a chain and the existence of several other solid brunch spots in town, there's always a decent line when it opens, so unless you get there early, expect a bit of a wait.
  22. Look, I'd consider letting Mack take over for Rodney Terry if it would keep him away from the football team.
  23. Shit. You have more important things to tend to @Sbbruin, but keep us posted, and be safe.
