  1. For some reason I just never had a desire to eat at Olamaie, and didn't go until January of 2023 for my wife's birthday, and it was fantastic. But by comparison, I went to a restaurant in Reims, France several years ago that had a Bib rating and it blows Olamaie out of the water. I'm not sure if that's because of the level of competition in France, or I just don't know shit about fuck when it comes to Michelin ratings. But happy that Austin is getting the culinary recognition. When I moved back to Austin from Dallas in 2003, we were still several years away from the advent of (1) fine dining, and (2) outstanding BBQ that surpassed the old guard. Guess it just comes with overall growth as a large city.
  2. I miss the Big XII where we were everyone's rival.
  3. Shit, I hope he got laid by someone local instead of waiting for his Sooner girlfriend. It might improve his play.
  4. Well this is an outstanding reference.
  5. If you thought it was already tough to book at table at the Chili's on 45th and Lamar, it'll be impossible after tonight.
  6. Baller move. Pass on the head coach and hire the guy with no head coaching experience and one year of OC experience at the power conference level. OU must do this.
  7. A year or so ago I tried tracking calories on MyFitnessApp for a month or so. It was mostly out of curiosity, first to get a general sense of my daily caloric intake, as my food intake from day to day is pretty much the same without many wild swings (my Monday through Friday diet is pretty standard and boring), and second to see how I was getting to my daily protein target. But it seemed like too much work for someone who right now does not really need to track calories for a deficit (weigh loss) or surplus (getting swole). I've pretty much weighed the same for the past 10 years, and any swings are usually those times of the year when I consume more alcohol (holidays, vacations, football season).
  8. It's been said by others, but what a huge pickup for Sark in the portal. Really wish we had him for another year. But with Wingo, Moore, another badass from the portal, a badass freshman stepping up early, and Parker Livingstone, we will be stacked again at receiver.
  9. So, working out when sick . . . . Late last week I had developed a little head cold that I initially thought was allergies. Probably caught it during a short mid-week work trip. But I had also taken a customary week off of lifting, and although those rest weeks are recommended every 8-10 weeks or so, at the end of them I tend to get very anxious to get back into the gym. So on early Sunday morning I woke up feeling okay, a bit rusty after some copious beer drinking during the Florida game, but good enough to get back into the gym, and I had a pretty good lower body work out. But a few hours later I started feeling really run down, and despite hydrating like there was no tomorrow and consuming my usual post workout supplements and nutrients, by the evening I was feeling worse, and now it's in my chest. Not terrible, and I feel good enough to be in the office. But bad enough to miss this morning's workout. I've read numerous articles saying that if you're feeling sick but symptoms are confined to the neck up, it's probably okay to work out, but you should make it a lighter workout, because a rigorous workout can actually suppress your immune system for a short time while your body is in recovery mode. And the safer play is to just take a day off. Looks like I should have taken that advice, but stubborn me didn't want to extend my off week. Any thoughts on working out with a cold, or similar experiences?
  10. Good point. He's certainly no spring chicken, but 63 can still be relatively young for this game. I do think one potential negative against Cignetti is the current NIL/transfer landscape of college football. He's been at a big conference program for less than one full season, and he didn't have to deal with roster management on the NIL/portal level at places like James Madison and Elon. Recruiting is one thing -- it's relating to players and their families and selling them on your program, playing time, etc. But it might cause OU some hesitation to hire a guy with no significant experience in what is now a significant part of a head coaches responsibilities. And it's not like Venables has shown that roster/portal management is a strength for him.
  11. Yeah, that was a head-scratcher. If Cignetti is really the next hot rising star and is ready to cash in his success at Indiana, I can see him viewing OU as an attractive job, and maybe OU won't have much competition. Is USC going to shitcan Riley? I don't think so. FSU probably gives Norvell a pass coming off 10-3 and 13-1 seasons, and even if they fire him I don't think their financial position is any better than OU's. Cignetti is a West Virginia alum, but I don't see that as an attractive job over OU. Who else would be OU's competition, and who are other candidates? Cignetti end up falling in OU's lap.
  12. So how was the imitation crab? Just like the real thing?
  13. They’re terrible, we should win convincingly.
