  1. I never thought Herman would get another job at the level near Texas. But count me as surprised that he's doing so poorly at a place like Florida Atlantic.
  2. By the time I got to UT in the mid-90s, the Arkansas rivalry seemed like it was in the distant past, though I know it was only a few years prior that Arkansas left the SWC. I just don't loathe that school like I do aggy and OU, its academic standing has been creeping up, and Fayetteville is sort of blue-ish in an otherwise heavy red state. I'm fine with my son going to Arkansas if he wants to, and yeah, the tuition makes it one of the better bargains if your kid wants to go to a large state university outside of Texas.
  3. Awesome. One of the greatest moments from that series.
  4. I've been thinking about this, Mr. Hand. If I'm here and you're here, doesn't that make it our time? Certainly, there's nothing wrong with shitting on our time. FIGHT!!!
  5. Maybe not. Mack would've still had Tryone Swoopes as QB1, but I can't believe Major as OC would've been as bad as Shawn fucking Watson. Greg Robinson would've still been a solid DC, but he was a one-year stop gap after Manny got shitcanned, so Mack would've had to hire a replacement. Maybe Mack's game/clock management would've eked out another win or so. Who knows.
  6. Well then, fun college town with polite midwestern farm boys who won't try to go past second base.
  7. That's an aspect I'll be watching/dreading. Of course Trump knew about Project 2025, and his claim he didn't is another obvious line of bullshit on the campaign when he started to understand it could be a liability (just like a national abortion ban, IVF, etc.). But now that he's elected, will Trump just do what Trump wants to do and appoint his own folks over whomever The Heritage Foundation may want to handpick? Or is he feeble enough/giving less fucks and will put them in place early and let them do their thing?
  8. Among other things to watch in the coming months is the Trump transition. NPR was talking about it this morning, and how the first Trump transition to the presidency was an absolute disaster of disorganization, with a large number of his cabinet, staff, and other appointees being a terrible fit and lasting a hot second, preventing a lot of simple shit from getting done. The guy who was interviewed says he's getting signs of a similar transition this go-around. I know, shocker. Hey, at least there will be some entertainment.
  9. Congrats! I bet Dave Chapelle will make an excellent son-in-law! TEXAS!!!
  10. Yeah, it was probably a good idea that I wasn't getting my annual cholesterol bloodwork at the time. But I was in my 20s, so I was invincible.
  11. Haven't had those in years, but I remember sometime when I lived in Dallas in the 1999-2003 range a national publication gave the Snuffers cheese fries the distinction of the unhealthiest restaurant dish in American. I know there's a "Napoleon, like anyone could even know that" aspect to it, but I'm sure Snuffers didn't mind the recognition, and it didn't keep me away.
  12. That's awesome, Pescado. Congrats! I'm hoping Arkansas is on Kid No. 2's radar.
  13. Fun college town with a bunch of hot midwest women who like to bang.* *I know none of this to be true, but wishing the best for your son.
  14. From NW Austin, ready to get back the Longhorn mojo against the Gatas . . . TEXAS!!!
  15. Add Prima Nocta to the platform and I’m in.
  16. One of my favorites, and I don’t think that‘s shared among many King fans. Something about the Florida coast setting, the painting/premonition device, and the Persephone mythology, just captured me. I’ve read it twice and will probably read it again.
  17. Oregon is a good call because the rainy weather will surely improving his catching.
  18. Will plan on being there bright and early with the wife and two friends, one of whom is Brisket, who will bring sunshine and rainbows. Will there be food?
  19. For me, source only matters in that I’ve cut down on red meat to keep my cholesterol down, so I opt for chicken and fish. Shakes are good because the amount of protein we need as aging men on a fitness routine makes it difficult to meet the daily recommendation with just whole foods. Also, people will say that source matters based on rate of digestion. For example, a whey protein shake will digest quicker than a caesin shake or a chicken breast. But I don’t think that really matters, and I just focus on my overall macros for the day.
  20. I took creatine for a few years until last year, when my doctor noted that my creatine level was high. He asked if I was taking creatine, I told him I was, and he said pretty bluntly to stop doing that. So I did, and my creatine level was normal this year. I know studies have debunked the concerns from a couple decades ago that creatine was bad for your kidneys, and as recommended I drank a ton of water every day when I took it. But I really don’t notice a difference in performance or lean muscle mass now that I’m off it, at least not enough that an almost-50-year-old dude should care about. Short version: Take it or don’t take it. I think its efficacy is marginal, and better to focus on discipline with your weight routine and your nutrition, especially protein intake.
  21. I love my dad, but he voted for Trump, and he gets disability from the Marine Corps. Have fun with that, pops, and see you at Thanksgiving.
  22. You won’t without a Ouija board.
