  1. Finally figured out how to post pictures so I’ll put a couple up. I have a Boykin spaniel that I get to hunt over. Great little dogs and a lot of fun. Another forum member had a dog from the same litter as well. Ignore the double t; buddies truck. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Did my best shooting ever last time at the ranch! Ear holed two hogs: 424 yards and 404 yards Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. I’m actually giving it away but if it was awesome I thought about gifting another bottle. Been really enjoying OGD114 lately based on suggestions from this thread!

    Dallas | Burgers

Had the double cheeseburger with grilled onions and japs from skyrocket based on suggestions from this thread. It was very, very tasty!
  5. I picked up a bottle of bookers “granny batch” today. Has anyone tried it; was it worth the $75?
  6. Thanks bill; I passed. Figured it wasn’t the same as the old stuff they sold overseas
  7. Anybody tried the very olde st. nick? I saw a bottle at the local place that was $149 for the rye which seemed crazy
  8. Agreed, 407 is not good. Tried twice and wasn’t impressed
  9. She did mention that last night matter of fact! J/k I had a 90yj that I loved but damn if you had a head wind or were going uphill those 112 horses were struggling

    Countryisms

My grandpa used the term “post turtle”. I.e. that fella is in way over his head; he shouldn’t have gotten that job; he’s a post turtle. 10 yr Cknight asked what a post turtle was and it was explained this way: a post turtle is a turtle that is put on top of a fence post in the middle of the country. He doesn’t know how he got there, what he’s going to do and how he’s going to get off. That’s a post turtle
  11. It’s crazy how different parts of the country have different selections. I’m in Southern California for a wedding and the local liquor store has cases of buffalo trace and eagle rare as well as numerous EC12 ($74), WLW ($799) and the most of the BTAC. I haven’t seen mass quantities of ER10 in the metroplex in a long time
  12. Grandpa always said that there are two kinds of animals: animals that make you money and animals that screw with the animals that make you money. Sounds like our families would have got along!
  13. For any of you guys in the metroplex; Specs in Lewisville had McKenna 10 on the shelf
  14. We limited Sunday evening outside of Lufkin and the pup did really well. Also, shot my first banded dove! I’ll try to figure out how to upload some pics
  15. Good luck today; I’ll be out this evening trying to get a few! A horns victory; a limit of birds and getting to watch my dog work! Doesn’t get much better
  16. I’ve got a lot of fun memories of being the “bird dog” for my dad and his buddies. They would shoot and drink beer and I’d go chase down the birds. It is kinda sad though as almost all those properties are now subdivisions
  17. That is some excellent eating right there!
  18. Getting excited about dove/teal this year. I’ve got a Boykin spaniel that’s doing really well and can’t wait to get her on some live birds
  19. I got to shoot a older 8 point Saturday evening. He is not a high scoring deer but definitely mature 17 3/4” inside spread and weighed just under 170 lbs on the hoof. I’ll post pics if I can figure it out
  20. That's the one and that guy is a crook. I'm trying to remember some other prices: ER10: $39; RY10 $69 (had 5 bottles); McKenna10: $32. The Kentucky Owl at $100 over MSRP just pissed me off.
  21. Bottle king in east Fort Worth has two bottles of Weller 12 on the shelf for $70, three bottles of OWA at $50 and then for only $299...Kentucky Owl
  22. Costco in Lewisville had stagg jr. on the shelf for $59. I picked up a bottle but haven’t tried it yet. Did I do good or not?
  23. Bottle King off of eastchase in east Fort Worth had bottles of Weller 12, Weller antique, Blantons, staff jr., Elijah Craig 12 year and some ER on the shelf. I just asked away with a 12 and antique but he marks them up($70 12 and $50 for antique)
  24. For cheap drinking and good scenery on 7th; I love Chimys off of Foch Street. Happy hour is 3-7 I think with $1.50 tacos; $2.50 drafts and $3 double wells
  25. We went to the arts festival Saturday and hit up Heim before. IMO it has fallen off significantly since the food truck at the old location by the Republic Bar. It wasn't bad by any means but about on the same par as Rudy's. Art Festival was great as usual; the rain drove a lot of people off so the crowds were light.
