  1. She also hasn't made an album in 10 years and has been teasing "new tracks" with her current squeeze, the dude from Dawes. For all I know, she married RA in the first place to help gain artistic integrity with actual adults. And I don't know if Mandy Moore is a "victim" here as I understand the term. Arguing and fighting and (I'm assuming) plates being smashed against the wall and gaslighting and emotional warfare don't make Mandy Moore a victim of anything. This is run of the mill shit in any other non-celebrity dysfunctional relationship. In order for someone to be a "victim" of "emotional abuse," and for me feel sorry for them, they need to be a child or disabled, or the emotional abuse is coupled with physical abuse or threats of physical abuse. Otherwise, this shit is just called "fighting."
  2. My parents came down for a visit today and my mom points to my Ryan Adams poster for his last Houston show and she said, "Did you hear what Mandy Moore said about him?" My mom is 66 years old and only watches local and evening network news. How does she know this shit?!? FML. *Actually, since she is retired, I bet she picked it up on one of the morning "news" infotainment shows like Good Morning America or the Today Show.
  3. That's why my best case scenario for him depends on that stuff being false or there being a lot more to the story. Yes, if the narrative is reasonably clear cut, e.g., minor child + adult knowledge + sexual contact/communication by adult, he is done. At that point, forgiveness is between him and the God of his own choosing.
  4. I'm not saying this sexting with a minor thing is going to turn out to be BS like Rolling Stones' infamous "A Rape on Campus" or whatever, but some of the facts seem pretty weird. Regardless, the FBI getting involved is a good thing. He'll either get quasi-exonerated or catch charges and get nailed to the wall. On the crime and punishment side, justice will be done. As far as using power/celebrity/false promises to sleep with much younger women who had aspiring talents, I think everyone agrees that the behavior is gross/shameful but not criminal. He seems ready to get his comeuppance for that shit, which the Times article most certainly delivered. His BEST case scenario is: (1) the minor sext shit is misrepresented or false, (2) he spends 2-3 years of public exile w/ no album releases, no tours, minimal tweeting, etc., (3) quietly returns to music in a less visible role, and (4) is able to make a humble "comeback" by giving a totally honest high profile interview. I think people can forgive him for most of this shit, but he's going to fucking need Oprah to endorse him as "rehabilitated." Only The Oprah has that kind of power.
  5. This article from Jezebel is surprisingly fair. https://themuse.jezebel.com/ryan-adams-was-hiding-in-plain-sight-1832635047
  6. Take out the underage girl stuff, and this is pretty Man Bites Dog. "Ryan Adams is a Capricious Basketcase and Dating or Being Married to Him is a Nightmare." He asbolutely has serious histrionic personality disorder, commonly demonstrates the worst traits of an untreated addict/alcoholic, and is an emotional mess in general. He has made a lot of concessions about being a jerk and doing jerk stuff in dozens of interviews way before this article. Also, he did sell this shirt at his concerts. He also wrote an album called "LOVE IS HELL" ffs. So I'm partially failing to see the martyrdom of some of these ladies. With Harvey Weinstein and Louis CK, there were definitely allegations about a lack of consent. Other than part about the minor (please don't be true) who legally can't grant consent to an adult, I'm not seeing any kind of sexual assault, battery, rape, etc. Finally, "psychological and emotional abuse" is some subjective shit and comes with the territory even in normal relationships. If being tortured by an emotional shitshow in a consensual romantic relationship is now under the "me too" umbrella, I'm pretty much going to need a position on the board of directors. Full disclosure: I really want to defend him/the really bad stuff to not be true because he is up there among my absolute favorites if not #1 in the modern era. Sucks.
  7. You know, that's interesting and a good point. I've never read a Tom Clancy book, but in Hunt for Red October and Clear and Present Danger (the movies), Jack Ryan is presented as an office/desk guy who has to get into some shit that is way over his head.
  8. Clarifying the order of things, here. Jack Straw was the rainbow/lyric shit that amazed everyone, and El Paso was Willie playing El Paso with the dead. Set Two Jam Jack Straw Caution (Do Not Stop on Tracks) El Paso (Marty Robbins cover) (with Willie Nelson)
  9. It's right on the edge for me. I mean, it's not UGLY, just not optimal. I was intrigued by these MIJ blackout strats but the gold hardware didn't work for me. Definitely looks better on a Les Paul.
  10. Acceptable. Gold hardware works with white and sherwoody dark metallic-ish green. End of list. I really don't even like it with black, which ought to work with everything. You might be able to pull off some kind of crown-royal bag dark purple with gold though. I'd need to see it.
  11. Man, this is such a stupid, brilliant little product.
  12. Holy shit, now that I'm thinking about funk/afro-beat type stuff...OVERLOAD. You could do a thread just on that.
  13. Everyone is beating me to some of the best shit. But I'd submit these as amazeballs.
  14. This is a fucking solid top 5.
  15. I think the true believer Trumpkins should move to Russia.
  16. and not a cover! And Jack Straw is my favorite Dead song. Samsonite! I was WAY off!
  17. ^^ And they make small Aqua Pusses now in the "Smalls Series." That would probably make for a more comfy fit...on your pedalboard, of course.
  18. I am imagining this in my head now and I see how they could have totally unironically pulled that off. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. All you need now is an Aqua Puss. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Chad with the smart thinking. Fender must have planned the jump into the pedal market about the time this was discontinued. Yet Fender’s initial “marine layer” reverb pedal didn’t even have a spring setting. But now they sell a trem/verb combo a la the strymon flint. (For $270). It has “63” “65” and “plate” settings. Boss surely must own the COSM technology. I wonder if they will apply to the next version of their verb (waza maybe?). Just drop the fender label and make a verb with a “1963 spring tank” setting. 21. I saw them do this but in Austin. Really cool idea for a bluegrass cover.
