  2. For whatever reason the mix is all weird. You can hardly hear the drums and bass line but whatever. Not perfect, but a close approximation. This is all compressor.
  3. Gettin' crazy with the overdubs! Goofed around with the Canyon's looper today. You can do some cool shit with just a guitar, amp, pedals, and an iPhone. 1) Drums - Isolated drum track off youtube, mic'ed from my phone into my guitar pickups 2) Bass - Guitar played an octave lower with treble rolled off 3) Guitar 1 - Boss Waza Chorus, medium speed/intensity, some Boss Waza delay timed to 1/8th notes 4) Guitar 2 - Chorus on a higher/warbly speed and more intensity, heavier delay 1) Guitar 1 - MXR Phase 90, Barber Gain Changer low gain setting at noon 2) Guitar 2 - Same as above with more treble 3) Guitar 3 - Boss Waza Blues Driver standard setting at 1-2 o'clock, medium delay 4) Guitar 4 - Same as above
  4. So, Ryan Adams and Walrus Audio created a $300 boost pedal... Which you can buy for an extra $15 in a limited edition PACKAGE that looks like a 1980's toy at Radio Shack... . Not to be confused with the $269.00 Volume/Chorus/Reverb Smiths-in-a-Box thing he created with JHS and looks like an early home video game consule... Or the "Flux Capacitor Delay," of which 50 were made and zero available on the used market. But the dude claims to be taking pre-orders for a second run, but hasn't updated his blog since 2015... or.... The "Replicant" delay pedal, which seems to be a mash up between a faux tape echo and a Memory Man but with Blade Runner font. I'm not convinced this was made by a company that ever existed. or... ...Or this pedal, which I don't know what it does, and there is probably just one in the world, but it has a little mechanical mouse that steals your guitar pick while a cat looks on. It is clearly made for 40 year old children. I kinda want all these.
  5. Jerry's stuff (and variations) during the chorus. The regular tabs don't show the harmonies he's doing. Also was looking for the shepard's tone kind of walk-up right before the solo. On the studio version, it's 3:10 to about 3:30. But in the live versions, he's way up the neck at the end and throwing down some cool little extras. See 5/8/1977 at 3:22-3:38, for example. This dude actually links some pdfs that are handy with the basics. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B487PU9df8DPZDhHY3VZQnlxbW8/view https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B487PU9df8DPdjNZQ1ZoOG5rVTQ/view For example, I did not know this song was in 7/4. I probably ought to know the song's count, right? EDIT: I'm fixing to order a Micro Q-Tron so I may page you in the "Song you're playing on guitar" thread. Shakedown Street's up next.
  6. All the guitar tabs for Estimated Prophet suck so I had to resort to finding a video lesson. I stumbled across this guy, God bless him. Takes him 8 minutes to get past the first two notes. And he's all, "I hope I didn't sound kinda condescending there..." over nothing. Dude saw his "Mean People Suck" poster and felt guilty. After he gets past the first riff, he sits down and you're like, "NOOOOOOOOOooooo. Go to the next part!"
  7. In addition to having what appear to be three extremely illegal video poker units, the corner store down the street from me sells these: You know, for when you want to freebase tobacco.
  8. Nice to know Skynet's got a lighter side. See y'all in the bunkers.
  9. Check out this limited edition one: Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. ASAT special. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. That’s a costly book but it looks amazing. I’d read that shit cover to cover and drool on the pictures. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. I bought a guitar on an online music auction once so I'll get an e-mail once in a while from them. Bo Diddley's last used stage guitar - Current Bid: $5,000.00; Expected sales price: $20,000.00 to $40,000.00. Bo Diddley guitar strap - Current bid: $300.00; Expected sales price: $1,000.00-$2,000.00. I need to copy the full description on this: A group of three quarter-inch magnetic tape recordings (7.5ips) featuring tracks from the 1968 The Jimi Hendrix Experience album Electric Ladyland, together with five reel boxes bearing titles and recording information from the Ladyland sessions, including notations made in Hendrix’s own hand. Reel 1 contains a live studio “jam” version of “Voodoo Child” with Steve Winwood on organ and Jack Casady on bass. The reels were reportedly gifted to a member of the Welsh rock group Amen Corner while they were on tour with Hendrix in Europe. Reel 1: “All Along the Watchtower,” “And the Gods Made Love,” “Crosstown Traffic,” “Voodoo Child”; Reel 2: “All Along the Watchtower,” “Burning of the Midnight Lamp,” “Gypsy Eyes”; Reel 3: “Gypsy Eyes.” Current bid: $12,500.00; Estimated sales price $50,000.00-$7,000.00. Whoever buys this shit needs to convert the tape to digital and put the Voodoo Child jam online. Happy bidding!
  13. I never skip any tracks on these albums and I never need to take a "break" from them. I especially find myself being able to listen to well-made live albums over and over. Also, some of these I associate with good/fun times in my life where the album feels like a soundtrack from my life. I also have to leave off certain albums that I, overall, like better than these because radio/commercials/media/myself have all combined to hit breaking points at one time or another. I need like a 6 month hiatus just to listen to the first track of certain five star masterpiece albums. "Black Dog," "Sympathy for the Devil," "Whole Lotta Love," "Welcome to the Jungle," "Whiskey River" can all turn into a beating if you try hard enough. U2 - Achtung Baby Springsteen - Darkness on the Edge of Town Zeppelin - III, Physical Graffiti; Soundtrack to the Song Remains the Same James McMurtry - Where'd You Hide the Body; Live in Aught Three Rolling Stones - Sticky Fingers Leon Russell - Leon Russell; Leon Live Jimi Hendrix - Live at Winterland Neil Young - Harvest; Everybody Knows this is Nowhere; Rust Never Sleeps Bob Dylan - The Bootleg Series Vol. 5: Bob Dylan Live 1975, The Rolling Thunder Revue; Hard Rain Robert Earl Keen - Gringo Honeymoon Grateful Dead - Tons of shows that have been formally released, e.g., Dick's Picks Volume 18, To Terrapin: Hartford '77; Cornell 5/8/77 Ryan Adams/Whiskeytown - Jacksonville City Nights; Stranger's Almanac Willie Nelson - Teatro Heartless Bastards - Stairs and Elevators Sam Cooke - One Night Stand! Live at the Harlem Square James Brown - Live at the Apollo Antonio Carlos Jobin - Verve Jazz Masters Vol. 13 Otis Redding - Dock of the Bay; Live at the Whisky A Go Go
  14. That offset Tele is the bomb. I wonder what a custom made fiesta reddish pickguard would look like on that.
  15. Foggy is now our king until someone else has a NGD.
  16. I don't recall you posting here, so if this is post #1 you're off to a hell of a start. Also, please be sure to visit our amp thread and effects pedals thread.
  17. It would take certain teams 2-3 games to put up the offensive yardage Mahomes had in this game. Shame that Tech lost.
  18. This album is legit good. This track, featuring Leon Bridges, is the best post-60's modern Christmas song I've ever heard.
  19. Grandioso

    Vinyl

Comes out 11/23. If you need this album,* might as well have on 180g gold records (2LP, gatefold). $34.99 is pretty reasonable. https://u2.fanfire.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/Store.woa/wa/product?sourceCode=U2TWEBWWUSD&sku=U2T84113 *This album went platinum in the UK within 48 hours of being released. In the U.S. it reached 10x Multi-Platinum status in 1995 is now certified Diamond. It has sold 25+ million copies worldwide. I feel like that number is still too low.
  20. Some of the most bitter, pessimistic, shoulder-shrugging lyrics in any song. But they're so fucking clever and they're all sung with a wink and a smile. Also, tons of Dylan: With God on Our Side, Most of the Time, Not Dark Yet, Things Have Changed, Hurricane, If You See Her Say Hello, and The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll. Exemplar Lyrics: Sundown, yellow moon I replay the past I know every scene by heart They all went by so fast But now we got weapons Of the chemical dust If fire them we're forced to Then fire them we must One push of the button And a shot the world wide And you never ask questions When God's on your side. Most of the time I'm halfway content Most of the time I know exactly where it all went I don't cheat on myself I don't run and hide Hide from the feelings That are buried inside I don't compromise And I don't pretend I don't even care If I ever see her again Most of the time There's not even room enough to be anywhere It's not dark yet, but it's getting there Well my sense of humanity is going down the drain Behind every beautiful thing, there's been some kind of pain People are crazy and times are strange I'm locked in tight, I'm out of range I used to care, but things have changed Couldn't help but make me feel ashamed to live in a land Where justice is a game
  21. [Lions fans leaving the stadium at the end of the third quarter, the Lions having scored one field goal and down 13-3] "Fuck it, let's beat the crowd and go get something to eat."
  22. This looks like the Chargers took their starters out after the first half and Denver didn't put theirs in until the second half. (Shout out to Jammer with the 80-yard pick six).
