  1. im crying laughing. First timer, cant believe I've missed that one. So funny.
  2. Dan Lanning is a cold blooded killer and if you are focusing on one play to define him, you are making a big mistake. Sark coached a hell of a game Saturday night and several of is in-game strategy calls out foxed Elko. Just like Lanning has done this year time and again.
  3. Im no doctor, but looked more to me like "bruised achilles". IIRC it wasn't as much of a sprain or turn of the ankle but more a ton of weight coming down on the back of his lower leg above the foot, but fuck if I know.
  4. Yeah, Sark out-coached the hell out of Elko. Sark milked a timeout out of them when he sent Arch out for the second time. IIRC Elko burned at least 2 timeouts for no reason over the course of the game. Really impressed by Sark's Lanning-esque coaching Saturday night. He was really dialed in, even from the gameday interview, that i assume was pre-recorded, he was all business.
  5. In other words QE might herp derp us to a natty like ol’ case. Would that be something.
  6. I was told there would be no math
  7. Same , I was there. We kicked the dog out of them. Back then you had to read the magazines to get news on recruits. I remember Mackovic securing Ricky's committment and the subsequent write up in Athlons gave us all hope. I used to go to Barnes and Noble on my lunch break and read the magazines front to back for any mention of Texas recruits. Back then FSU, MIami, Notre Dame got all the good Texas kids. Dallas morning news would also do lists, 1 for National, 1 for "regional" or conference and 1 for State only. We always had 1 or 2 on the national list....Lovell Pinkney was a big WR out of DC we were also super hopeful about and of course Ricky.
  8. Agreed, I think in the moment, he should have said "....to the Seniors dont let this be the best day of your life..." and if he was more Saban-like, he would have said the rest of you returners, back to back starts next week.
  9. i remember the bird interview but not the $200 quote. Yeah he had some of that old south, Bobby Bowden aw shucks passive aggressiveness to him for sure.
  10. Cool story bro. I was in Mobile for the GMAC Bowl years ago. I had a customer who knew I was a Texas Grad and Mack Brown was the keynote speaker at the Fellowship of Christian Athletes breakfast, so he invited me to town. Got a picture with Mack, said hello etc...after the event, I hauled ass to the airport to fly back to Dallas on AA one of their small regional jets...I was the last to board so I just plopped down on row 1 since there was no one else behind me and the whole row was open....next thing I know , who boards the plane....Mack Brown. I said hey coach take that seat the row is open....he recognized me as we had just taken a picutre together 30 minutes prior. I talked his ear off for 2 hours and he was as gracious as could be. I asked him about a few plays and we had laugh or two as I always had a knack for remembering quirky plays/situations. Back then, Tech was a real pain in our ass. We were at Tech one year (Simms era) and had a lead early. Back in those days it was like a tennis match where you had to hold serve (ie score) and hope to break serve(get a stop). Mack was always good at deferring the ball to the second half and hoping to score late and steal a possession/score to start the 2nd half. Good dude, but I fear he's out staying his welcome in NC. Incidentally, many may not know his wife was a pretty savvy business woman in her own right. Also, Mack was AD at Tulane to go along with HC of the Greenwave. He's not thought of very well by many on this board for doing less with more, but he is a very accomplished and good for the sport overall. He was the right hire for us at the right time. He claims DKR told him the key to success in Austin was putting the bb's back in the box.
  11. Sounds like they are getting Walker back after all. In addition, Deone Walker, Barion Brown, and Jamon Dumas-Johnson are no longer on the injury report, so they’re set to return this week. https://www.aseaofblue.com/2024/11/20/24302063/kentucky-vs-texas-injury-report-deone-walker-jj-weaver-barion-brown
  12. https://www.aseaofblue.com/2024/11/17/24298392/deryk-jackson-injury-kentucky-football-lb-out-for-season This article indicates that they are both banged up , Stoops is hopeful they get back “by the end of the year”. Sounds like their stud LB (transfer from UGA) is out, but also seems like he’s been out a few games. The QB played last week but was concussed the previous game.
  13. Well that could be. He may have worded that post very poorly. UF turning it around would include a W over Ole Miss which helps us. We hold on to Ffrench despite the Gators winning.
  14. He is currently balling out for Ole Miss iirc. Big part of their DL rotation. Yeah, we really don't want UF rolling. That would not bode well for our National recruiting net right now. Back in the Mack Brown days, maybe, but we recruit all states now and losing a 5* to a conference foe is not ideal. We are deeply entrenched in the state of FL for recruiting, espeically this cycle.
  15. Not sure about that , looked like he scooped it at the 5 and it was going to roll dead at 1” line. Took a nice hop and he had a little space. I didn’t mind that play. There was one earlier where he fielded the punt falling down that game me the widow maker. He looked banged up late in the game.
  16. Kentucky -Kstate is an apt comparison in general terms. Older, veteran , over-achieving bunch prone to gaint killer status periodocally. We’ll need to play good , complimentary football , smart ball and we should be fine. I still think the deep ball success is coming and when it does , watch out. I hope D. Moore’s injury is not serious and it looked like Bolden injured his shoulder too. Might we see One of freshman WR? What about the CA kid? The WR with the great film. like to see him. Bond, Golden, Wingo and then the Freshmen I presume, if Moore and Bolden are banged up. This is where Cook fucked up. Could be getting big minutes.
  17. Well this escalated a bit. I just want to beat Kentucky.
  18. If it was easy, everybody would be doing it. We don't want it any other way. Chance to show the world what it means to wear the Texas on the jersey. Cant wait. Beat Kentucky and get ready for the Ags.
  19. I could see a scenario of Clemson USc 11 am Iron bowl 2:30 Texas 6:30. alL on ABC. There is almost no way we’re not prime time if we beat Kentucky. Will be one of the highest rated games of all time imo if the SEC title game appearance is on the line.
  20. The jones fumble was similar to the AC swipe today. Not an exact replica but similar. Believe the defender on Jones was Big Roy Miller , a late OU flip for Mack iirc. From Killeen or Harker Heights area.
  21. We looked solid today. Dominated the first half defensively. QE protected the ball, our OL played well . We ran the ball against a huge front. We had some drops. QE wasn’t perfect but overall fine. Deep ball is meh to poor. Wingo catches the tip, we run a different play on 2nd and goal and this games a lot different ala Vandy. Again , I rather not peak , but have our best ball in front of us. best Uk and I think we’re in playoffs either way. Pull off a W at Aggie and for sure we’re in. I love this team. We have 2 dozen ballers at least on this squad.
  22. Lot of season left. I’d rather not be peaking, but still winning. Our best football is coming. Not perfect today, but the run game is improving, Sark seems to be coming around to running football.
  23. Nah, he was hit from behind by a trailing DT after evading the rush, scrambling back through the middle and that's when he was tackled. From memory he had the ball in his hand and not against his body but he forced that fumble. This wasn't a Matt Nordgren deal.
  24. It happens. I have a very good friend from Memphis who went to Bama. He is without a doubt the biggest TN fan I know, total die hard. The story he gave me was his best friend from HS was a total derelict, hard partying kid and he knew he'd have to be roommates with him and likely be a terrible influence....so he ended up in T-town.
