  1. Sounds like you had yourself your own billy baroo. The Hancock dude was looking for a Billy ba-blew.
  2. I like your chances if it comes down to which QB can make something happen when the play breaks down. RL is a superp athlete, incredible basketball player in his prep days.
  3. Big fan of Riley Leonard ever since that Clemson win. He had Notre Dame beat too but for one play and then the injury. Re-aggravating it cost them the FSU game otherwise Duke would have had 3 very solid wins last year. Could have those flip flopped. I hear they (Domers) lost their starting LT, so we'll see how they handle that, but Riley Leonard is a great athlete in the vein of Arkansas Matt Jones, super long strider and deceptively fast. Really hope they beat the aggies. Leonard has not played on a stage that big so we'll see how he handles it. Could make himself a lot of money this season. My daughter (no pics) is very good friends with him and his gf, so kind of hits close to home. Rooting for the Domers this year.
  4. yeah i agree, it was more of a true freshman playing on big stage for the first time against D1 players (even CSU) and then the following week being on biggest stage of them all. Lot can happen to any player when its game on.
  5. Good news indeed , but whole new ballgame when live ammo starts firing out you. Its the Mike Tyson saying that everyone has a plan until you get hit in the face. Id like to think he'll be ready for what CSU is going to bring, but when the lights come on, the curtain opens, you find out real quick how well you know your lines.
  6. To be fair that wasnt Mack's kid.
  7. carry #5 got him, the 32 yarder. Nada after that vs Rice.
  8. Who is the Ramonce Taylor of this WR corp? He lined up as a back and played both very well before the backpack incident. That would be our answer. Not saying RT ran between tackles much, but if we have a guy like that in the WR depths, we should be fine with Blue, Gibson, TW and then spreading some carries to an athlete or two.
  9. I can see us using a lot of screens and jet sweeps with Bolden .....gimmicky type runs early in games to open up lanes for our smaller backs to run vs less occupied boxes. We'll have to run up the gut no doubt at times, but losing our big back (Baxter) and now depth (Clark) will force our hand a bit. With speed to burn on O, we'll see a lot of designed runs in space and then let Blue take his shots using tempo. The 4th and 1 or less than 5 where we go for it will be something to see how Sark handles. Baxter housed the one vs KSU, running through an arm tackle with a quick cut . If Gibson (he has the size) can prove to be durable, that will help tremendously. Loved Baxter, but IIRC he got hurt on his first carry. Granted he came back vs Bama the following week.
  10. Torture the numbers, they'll confess to anything.
  11. Not great at comparing, but I would think College Trent Richardson would be an apt comparison. From memory Richardson was a bit heavier 20lbs maybe , but about the same height and body type. The video on Gibson is not great b/c he was playing at IMG and tough to know what the competition was but seems like a similar build to Trent Richardson from his Bama days
  12. yep, Trent Richardson starter kit. Also, i see a lot of Brooks running style in Wisner, from the limited reps on tape at least.
  13. Gibson...next man up
  14. Just looked it up, knew nothing of this story. Finishing up March by Geraldine Brooks at present, but I may read this one next. I seem to recall an older movie about a Belgian outpost overrun by locals and the battle that ensued, that may have been loosely tied to this era/region. Cant say for sure though.
  15. he also hurt his shoulder on the first run of his career, a nice 20 yarder, went down hard on the sideline and i think may have missed the rest of the game.
  16. I can see Bolden lining up in the backfield some or running the orbit route ala Davantae Smith. With reports of his quickness and suddenness, that little route Bijan would run out in the flat is going to be deadly.
  17. Pretty hot for a Mayor.
  18. I see your points for sure. It's a play on words, obviously....6th St Journal-Wall St Journal. Im sure the business end of the board is at odds with the charm end of an "if you know you know" conundrum. In my day 6th st was legendary and outside of the several niche bars, it was the go-to, though I likely skew older than the avg Surler. I would imagine as we attract lurkers from the SEC, they will think its a bar/entertainment forum and then see its more about business and move along. I dont think, and i could be wrong, many SEC football types will come back to this site for non-football /recruiting, but I know that's the point....to create engagement across a spectrum of disciplines and thus retention. We all get it, but we know the history of ATX and will stay here b/c the content across the site is outstanding...I may be in the minority, but I rarely use Reddit, as I can get all I need right here.
  19. FWIW I like the name 6th Street Journal.
  20. You've probably not wandered over to the "Id Pee in Her Butt" thread i take it.
  21. May not be germane to the question, but financial literacy is a problem for many. The old adage is more people spend time on planning their vacation than planning their financial future. My feeling is people are intimidated by the markets and maybe a bit apathetic about finances. WIth the run up in home values, people think they have it made since their home is worth so much, so they spend all of their disposable and dont take the time to study. I really like this board and dont get over here as much as other boards, but i always come away with better perspective. My personal top board list, approximately (though you may have better stats on me than me): 1. Daily Texan 2. Football goes to #1 in season 3. Recruiting 4. Baseball in season 5. Movies/6th st/travel
  22. Im 54 and been pounding Index funds since i got out of Texas. I didnt start being able to save money until I was 25, so figure appx 30 years of Index buying and holding. Almost entirely S&P 500, with the exception of 10% of the nest egg in cash (probably more than what is recommended). The strategy has served me well; without going in to too much detail, we should be fine. Buy and hold, dollar cost averaging, only time I sold was right after 9/11 and I was late to sell. Got it all back of course. Fortunately my company has a defined pension...that plus SS and savings and wife is realtor (she'll do that forever).... trying to go another 7 years before heading to the house. I think the Boglehead strategy is not sexy and wont win the dinner conversation, but i come from the millionaire next door ethos where its best to sit back and let others discuss the next big stock pick and bide my time. Full disclosure, I will say i have one IRA from my wife's previous employer where i own microsoft, Meta, apple , amazon and AMC (got caught up in the meme options mania), plus an inherited IRA with Vanguard in their inflation protected bond fund tied to 10 yr.... been a dog lately but with the 10yr under 4, it should start a price increase trend. Other than that, im all S&P. Good luck!
